of course not. pot holes due to heavy object dropped on the road and not being repaired.. very commonly seen in JB.

Heavy vehicles such as trailers, buses etc contributed to pot holes too!

night time and rainy days be on the lookout and not complacent~

I'll personally think there's a relation to the heavy downpour that causes the potholes. Take a look at AYE towards Tuas, the stretch of straight road after AYE & CTE merge, there always potholes on Lane 3 after heavy downpours like what is now. I've managed to siam a handful of them. Due to the cold weather season, sumhow the roads contract more than "normal" and this with inproper drainage of the rain water, potholes surfaced on roads.

Just my two cents of thoughts....

Actually i dun find it weird cause i too had the same feeling. I was just toking to my friend this morning saying "hey" have u notice alot of pot hole recently. Then i read this post and find it very interesting. It could be due to the rain thus causing the coal to soften resulting in pot hole.

its not softened... just the layer of soil under the road gets filled up with water and thus it moves... hence, the holes... the road is not a sponge la... cannot get soft unless under high temperature become like molten lava...

I see, no lar i was just stating a "could be" i never say "it was cause by"

its possible but it'll really take a lot of yrs for the hole to appear if its caused by heavy rain

That's another reason to avoid tailgating.
If u tailgate, the car in front bocks ur view and u will not see the 1m pothole coming ur way at 80km/hr.

Guys - if you do spot a pot hole which you think might endanger other motorist (esp. bikers like us), do a good deed by calling LTA hotline : 1800-2255582.
I tried this and their response was almost like within 1/2 hr to activate an on-site team. There was a huge pot hole after the bend of Stevens Road (coming from Scotts). I almost went through it 'coz the street lightings were not so bright during rain.

The pot holes is due to the rain. for western part of area, we tend to have more pot holes or landslide becoz the soil in west part are much softer.

its due to uneducated reckless drivers of big trucks/trailers and lorries on the roads.

i think rain plays a part...in erosion of the road surface

dats why better ride scrambler...pothole shithole whatever hole/hump/kerb also no worries

scrambler if use dirt tyres easy to slip leh.
