How is the Basic Police Training like?

Im enlisting on 11th September 2007...

You will spend your time in the barrack sleeping, in the classroom studying, in the pool swimming, evenings running. March(Full-U) or Run (PT Kit) anywhere you want to go. Wed Bookout. Alternate between fri or Sat bookout. Training almost 5 months and then some given a choice of where they want to serve their remaining full time NS. Life quite good as long as you follow the "rules". That of course was back in 2002 at the police academy. Not sure of the current "lifestyle" in the Home Academy. Just remember to enjoy yourself... and be a "good" PO after you graduate. haha :cheeky: You will see a lot of "stupid and crazy" things people do after you get posted out but it's all good for you. :thumb: That does not change much. People never change... haha.

admin: staff assistant,despatch,etc
sai kang: logistics,etc

but i tink nobody will want SENTRY vocation

just be grateful that you dont have to spend a week in the jungles feeding mosquitoes...doing SOC with SBO & rifles....

u also makan pau ar?? time change liao la.. now wed no more bookout .. friday evening bookout sun 2130 must fall-in. then training nowadays 3-4 months depending whether u pass your ippt b4 enlisting. now HTA got SPRING MATTRESS LEH! too bad my batch is the last batch in old PA.. but i enjoyed the life there.. the trees .. the slope.. the hills and the "friends" .. unlike HTA so dull .. zzz

ehh... depending.. my squad everytime woke up at 620am.. the fastest way to get into PT kit is to

1) wake up and change to ur pole tee and pants and shoes FIRST
2) tidy bed, pull the bedsheet till no lines can be seen
3) brush teeth
4) fall in at 640 and march to jog to parade square.
5) stand there till 7am, flag raising, mass call, then breakfast.

I still rmb got two public hols in a week (hari raya and deepavali) sun book in, mon book out, tue book in, wed night book out, thur book in, fri book out...

my OC was then SSS Karem Mansoor.. haha.. great guy.. like to talk **** but then when comes to SBT, hes pro man..

FI all slack... park bike infront of ur barrack ah.... last time i parked my bike at P.A damn scared siol... after 5 days den can see ur bike... somtimes parts get stolen all... Now at HTA so safe... Bro, enjoy your training days ah. Like many forumers say, training time the best. No stress, no logsheet to write and no complains from nonsensical MOPs.

A few things things to take note. Make sure your helmet got PSB sticker and visor not tinted ah. Also, if on p-plate make sure display prominently. If not go back take bus. I'm from 122th intake. During my time got this senior officer ride bike so every friday book out time he will wait at carpark and check all the Trainee REMPITS. Never comply take bus go back. But i heard he posted out to SOC already. So i think should be quite safe la but don't take the risk ah unless want to go back take bus on Friday.

Oh ya, convey my regards to SSS Firdous. I'm sure many forumers will remember this lai jiao instructor. Very nice instructor but don't get into his black book ah. If you inside his blackbook, jia lat liao.

SSS Firdaos..he simply control the parade ground.GOD! But at the same time he has alot of enemies too..was told that he was depromoted to SSS for slapping a recruit. Or else with the years in the force,why is he left at that rank o_O But salute the OLD MAN!

I know SSS Justine is now OM (Operations Manager and not outraging modesty, OK? :lol: ) at Woodlands Ring Primary School. I approached him and talked to him when I brought my rugby kids there for the Inter-Primary School Rugby competition. SSS Ong, I saw bringing kids to the Traffic Show for primary schools at Singapore Expo about 3 years ago... :)

Regulars don't work 1/3 of a month. Other than daily job, they got those grassroot stuff, paperwork. Not forgetting there is in-service, recall duty, etc...During IISS period, no need to rest liao. hohoho.

Recall duty still can claim hours mah. in service good mah. learn things. part of the 100 training hours. where got organisation pay you to go 100 hrs of training. maybe got la but i not aware of.

Not really that shiok though cos my mrs went to work two days after our wedding and I'm left to my own devices when she's at work. My 'orang lama' colleague used to clear 28 days at one shot during the holy month of Ramadhan and still had some more leave to spare cos he served for than 10 years liao... :thumb:

however for NSF enlisted after MAR 07 are not entitle to any leave carry foward.

Go volunteer for crime rounds and stuffs lor. Like me SA also but when got chance to go patrol i sure volunteer. No hours or money la but go for the experience. At least learn something. I know ppl might say "Wah no life ah". lol.

Actually SA will know a lot about police procedures and stuffs. But not first hand experience.

too hard, in singapore every thing veri ex nw, GST 7 percent, income tax, a lot of tax la.

wah sad case for those 126th onwards NS intake last time they all used to clear 21days at one go due to the accumulated 7 days from 1st yr of service.. regular officers for JO is still 14/14.. = 28 days per year.. not inclusive of extra hours you claim.. hmmm

actually SA got good got bad laa.. likewise, NPCO also, got good got bad de..

SA - u got to mingle more with senior officers and officers from your own div and other divs. this role can also help u in planning, management and organization. in future, if you work in business sectors, it will more or less help u in a way.

NPCO - generally, in SPF, NPCO is the main posting which everyone wanna get into, because SPF - police - patrol - investigate.. haa... so in a way also help in the investigating and observation skills... but where to put in use in future? but good laa.. got the experience...

SA - u got to mingle more with senior officers and officers from your own div and other divs. this role can also help u in planning, management and organization. in future, if you work in business sectors, it will more or less help u in a way.

NPCO - generally, in SPF, NPCO is the main posting which everyone wanna get into, because SPF - police - patrol - investigate.. haa... so in a way also help in the investigating and observation skills... but where to put in use in future? but good laa.. got the experience...

my portfolio requires me to liaise with all LG and LG-PAs, COs..etc.. hence is a very good mgt skill for me although i'm not at the frontline.. at least i can put my learnt skill in my future career.. lol.. esp. 'Planning' & 'Organization'

yeah thats what i heard from my friend in TRACOM also. Anyway i doubt he will get SI. There are some complications in his career. Nonetheless, he's a great guy.

After 1 mth prep course then start the basic police training then during this basic police training, there will be IPPT every week I think. If you either attain silver or gold in your ippt, theres monetary incentive. If you get gold, then serve ns 1 yr 10 mths...

IPPT try get above silver. When people are slacking in the barracks at night go joggin. it will help.

Shooting, wah this one if you pro means you pro. but try your best. get techniques from the instructors. I am bobo shooter. lol.

PDT close eyes also can pass but must remember the steps thats all.

And most importantly, don't be a trouble maker. Try to get noticed doing the good stuffs and not be notorious.

actually the most impt thing is SBT - Scenario Based Test. That will train you how to approach different ground cases when you are posted to NPCO..tt one is fun.. u'll be running around with ur fake arms to chase the culprit.. some culprit will even 'di siao' u.. haha

You will spend your time in the barrack sleeping, in the classroom studying, in the pool swimming, evenings running. March(Full-U) or Run (PT Kit) anywhere you want to go. Wed Bookout. Alternate between fri or Sat bookout. Training almost 5 months and then some given a choice of where they want to serve their remaining full time NS. Life quite good as long as you follow the "rules". That of course was back in 2002 at the police academy. Not sure of the current "lifestyle" in the Home Academy. Just remember to enjoy yourself... and be a "good" PO after you graduate. haha :cheeky: You will see a lot of "stupid and crazy" things people do after you get posted out but it's all good for you. :thumb: That does not change much. People never change... haha.
