What advise can I give you? Just make sure you can maintain IPPT gold or silver (pass not good enough).

oh..coz I am now in my final semester of studies in NP...and then ah...suddenly got so many informations from different sources juz come popping out to me...was just wondering, 1st: is there any possibility that I will be transfered away from the vocation that I am assigned to?(which I don't want it to happen) 2nd: the Dos and Don'ts 3rd: The life inside... thanks in advance

If I am not wrong, once you sign the scheme as a Signal Specialist, your vocation is fixed. Your beret will be blue, very unlikely red, khaki, black or green.

Well.. I nearly signed up for the JPSDS scheme. Went through everything; Interview, test, medical. Just so you know, I'm really glad I didn't!

Don't let the lure of the cash drag you in. Consider all options first, ya?

From my understanding, Signals Specs are often deployed to various units such as the Infantry (f**k the tree), Artillery(Bomb Bomb man) to set up comms....
Very unlikely perform duties as a section or platoon.

Hope some Sig Specs can enlighten me on this, thanks.

Changing of vocation is possible..
but unlikely your parent unit(as of now Signals) will let you go..
SAF shortage of Regulars.. what's your Diploma? if relevant to Signals, they even wun let you go..

another choice would be go for SOF or CRF selection.. earn more than your peers of the same rank..

I signed on JPSDS in the late 90s. Disillusioned. Played out. Dirty politics. Left the force in 2005. Even I had to restart my career, up till today I did not regret even for a single second that I made up my mind to leave SAF.

Good Luck. And don't ever think of signing on after your contract ends. Because it will not be nice if you end up like the 50 year old WO being forced to retire early. SAF is not an organisation who will talk about integrity and honouring every agreement made with you.
