SINGAPORE (AP) --
Three wives of a Singaporean man who raped five of his young daughters were jailed Wednesday for helping their husband commit incest, according to court documents.
The 45-year-old owner of a transport company was sentenced to 32 years in prison and 24 strokes of the cane in April last year for repeatedly raping his daughters. He has 10 wives and 64 children.
The man, a Muslim who conducted religious classes for his family, told some of his wives and daughters during one class in March 2004 that the Muslim holy book, the Quran, said he owned his children and could have sex with them.
The wives then acted as his messengers, notifying the girls - then between 12 and 15 years old - whenever the man wanted to have sex. He was arrested in June 2005 after the eldest daughter notified police, the court documents said.
Two of the wives were sentenced Wednesday to three years in jail after pleading guilty to charges of abetting incest over an 18-month period from December 2003. The other wife was sentenced to nine years because she played a more active role.
"Instead of acting to prevent their daughters from falling prey to the sexual perversity, they meekly surrendered their maternal instinct and duty to protect their daughters," District Judge Shaiffudin Saruwan said in his judgment.
The judge ordered the names of the man and his wives to be withheld to protect his daughters' identities.
The man has 33 sons and 31 daughters between 9 months and 16 years of age. He had four lawful wives under Muslim law, while the other wives were "contractual" - an arrangement in which a Muslim couple enters into a union for a fixed term.
Singapore law allows Muslim men to have four wives. Contractual marriages, however, are not recognized and are invalid.
All of the three sentenced wives were legal wives.
A syaitan in the guise of a human. I hope that this beast of a father will rot in prison and may the 'welcoming committee' in prison do to him like what he did to his daughters...

Considering what he had done to his OWN children, is he even human in the first place???
Are they fit to be called mothers???
MOTHER, why did you let this happen?
Why did you let father have sex with my sisters?
These are the questions that Madam Siti (not her real name) has to endure now.
She is the fourth wife of a man who has been convicted of raping six of his daughters.
There is no anger, just remorse.
She failed them, she said.
She regrets her failure as a mother but now, bit by bit, she is trying to get her children back on their feet.
They are all my children, she said.
There are many of them, all from one man with multiple wives.
She is trying to create a normal life for them.
But Madam Siti no longer knows what normal means.
The names of the wives have been changed to protect the identities of the incest victims.
Madam Siti spent a few hours on the phone with The New Paper. She had a simple message: She admits the adults failed the children.
Just don't punish the children, she pleads. They have suffered enough.
Between December 2003 and June2005, the man had sex with six of his daughters.
On 18 April last year, he was sentenced to 32years in jail and 24strokes of the cane for fivecounts ofrape and four counts of aggravated rape.
Despite having several wives, he started targeting his daughters, all under 16. One by one he robbed them of their innocence.
His first three wives were charged with helping the man commit the crimes.
Madam Siti and some of the other wives now play mother to all the children.
All the victims, who are in their teens, have now returned to the family home after staying at a shelter.
Said Madam Siti: 'Every time I see my children's faces, I'm reminded of the incident (the rapes).
'There is not a day that I forget about the giant mistake we have committed against ourdaughters.
'Our community knows what we have done and they're angry.
'We accept that we have to pay (for our mistakes). Only that it will now be harder to look after our children as the three mothers are in jail.'
Before yesterday's sentencing, the remaining wives discussed what they should do with the first three wives behind bars.
One is now a full-time mother, helping to look after all the children.
The others hang on to their day jobs while helping to look after the children.
With the man behind bars, the family business crumbled. At first they thought of starting a food business.
SISTERS
Said Madam Fatimah, another wife: 'We wanted to run a food stall as one of my sisters knows how to conduct such a business.'
The wives refer to each other as sisters.
When the three wives were jailed, that plan was shelved.
Their financial situation is difficult. They need money for food and they need to keep the children in school.
About half of the children are in primary school, while the rest are in secondary school.
Madam Siti said they lost $28,000 after the family business collapsed. Without their husband, the women were forced to work to support the family.
They found jobs as a teacher, an accounts assistant and a factory operator.
They have a combined monthly income of $6,000, but that is not enough for the whole family.
About $2,000 is spent each month on medical bills, utilities and insurance.
Said Madam Siti: 'We are lucky that our MP and some organisations have stepped in to help us. Some of our children get pocket money while others get free text books. We're grateful for all their help.'
Sometimes, kind strangers drop off provisions like rice, sugar, oil and softdrinks at the family's doorstep.
Madam Siti said she is not expecting sympathy for the adults.
She said some people have told her 'it is a problem that we have created for ourselves and that we deserve it'.
Madam Siti added: 'It's for the children sake that we have to endure this situation.
'We are trying to rebuild our lives and trying to give the children better lives. We just can't do nothing about it.'
The children visit their father in prison at least once a month.
The older ones tell him of the problems they face as teenagers while the younger ones ask when he will be returning home.
Only the victims have not visited their father, said Madam Siti.
In letters to the daughters he violated, the man has apologised for his vile act, said Madam Siti.
Said Madam Fatimah: 'We try to make them happy and less stressed. We have noticed that some of our children are dwelling on the past.
'Since some of them have exams and tests coming up, we don't want them to worry. All we want is for them to do well in their school and succeed in life.'
Guilt and worry creep into the minds of some of the daughters.
One of the victims regrets reporting her father to the police, said MadamSiti.
She did not expect her report to lead to the arrest of the other mothers, said Madam Siti.
Madam Siti said: 'I try to console her (the daughter) by telling her not to feel guilty. She did the right thing because for every wrong deed, there is a penalty.'
Now the younger children, particularly those in primary school, are beginning to question their mothers.
Madam Siti added: 'We don't want to hide anything from them because it is their right to know the truth.
'I tell them all this happened because of the weakness of your father and some of us.'
Two of the younger children have had trouble in school and needed counselling.
One of them - Madam Siti's son - has turned rebellious and distant.
Said Madam Siti: 'The boy held his father in high regard. I blame myself because in the beginning, I didn't tell him the truth (about the rapes).
'I just didn't know the proper way to tell him.'
There is no excuse for all that happened, they know.
But Madam Siti is adamant that the children should be given back what is their right. Innocence.
Although for six of them, it is too late.

well in the world is an unfair world
cant blame anyone
CAN you understand the mind of an incest victim when, after all the trauma, she writes a letter pleading with the court on behalf of her tormentor?
Jean (not her real name), 35, can. She's been through it all, having been raped when she was a teenager by a relative who was a 'father figure' for most of her childhood.
In a word, Jean calls it 'confusion'. She said: 'It was a confusing time - I kept trying to figure out what I had done to deserve it.
'I was going through puberty, and with all the hormonal changes, I felt like I had invited the sexual attention from him (the relative).'
Her self-blame didn't end there. She also felt responsible for a rift that developed in her family.
'My parents asked me why I wanted to break up the family, and told me to keep quiet about it,' she recalled.
She has not forgotten the trauma. It was a slow, hard, long road to recovery. Only after years of silence did she decide to confront her memories.
'This book called 'The Courage To Heal' by Laura Davis was practically my Bible. I carried it everywhere,' she said.
She religiously did the writing exercises in the book, which were an outlet for her pent-up anger.
'I just kept writing to let all my anger out,' she said.
She added that a conversation with a close social worker friend helped her realise that the rape wasn't her fault.
She said: 'My friend showed me that what happened was not my fault at all. Realising that was the first, and most important, step in my recovery process.'
Now Jean counsels girls who have been through similar experiences.
She said: 'The first thing I tell them is that they are not at fault, and that they shouldn't be afraid to be angry.'
Ironically, guilt is what's most likely to haunt victims of incest, on top of the shame and fear they already feel.
Psychiatrist Brian Yeo told The New Paper that common among incest victims is the guilt associated with feeling they were responsible for breaking up their families.
Because of this, some cases of incest don't surface until the victims reach adulthood.
He said: 'They keep it all inside because of the possible effects on their families. Family members could begin taking sides and this could cause the family to break up.'
He said that most incest victims had a tendency to feel responsible for causing family upheavals, such as changes in living arrangements.
'Most often, if the father commits the crime, the family's financial situation will also be affected,' he said.
Dr Yeo added that the extent to which an incest victim was affected depended heavily on whether her mother and siblings believed her account of what happened.
He said: 'A big issue is that these victims need to be believed - it's a crucial part of the recovery process.'
He added that cracks were most likely to form in families where the victim's mother did not believe the child's account, choosing instead to believe the attacker (often the father).
Dr Yeo said: 'This is why incest is far more devastating than rape, where the attacker is somebody outside the family. In those cases, the family is on the victim's side and can offer support, which helps the victim heal faster.
'With incest, things can be more complex and victims could take a long time to recover.'

When i was younger I would have agreed with this (typical young adult male, full of anger).
However, by doing so, the children will also be condemned as they will be recognised as the children of the father and that will affect their live tremendously. And this may not be the best choice.

There is no orthodox religion that will encourage this type of behaviour, be it Buddhism, Christianity or Islam. This type of behaviour is beyond human, and in my opinion, even beyond being animalistic. I believe even animals dont have sex with their own young (I have minimumal knowledge on zoology, so those that have please do correct me).

wow.. he got 60+ children....
HE is a fundamentalist church pastor who said he wanted to teach his teenage daughters how to be good wives.
That was why he had sex with two of them over about 10 years, a South Australian court heard.
The 54-year-old man, who cannot be named to protect them, was today sentenced in the District Court to 8 1/2 years jail, reported the Australian Associated Press.
He had pleaded guilty to seven counts each of incest and unlawful sexual intercourse.
The court was told that the pastor had sex with his daughters for nearly a decade from 1991 when they were 13 and 15 at the family property.
The sex took place at various places on the property, including in a shearer's shed, a paddock, on the back of a utility vehicle and, on one occasion, at the girls' grandparents' house.
The man claimed that it was not about fulfilling his desires but about teaching his daughters how to behave for their husbands when they eventually married, as dictated in scripture.
During sentencing, Judge David Lovell said the misrepresentation of scripture to justify the abuse of the girls 'defied belief', and that the father had 'hypocritically betrayed' his religion and principles.
Judge Lowell said: 'You said the acts were about learning about sex rather than engaging in the acts of sex. I do not accept that.
'You treated your daughters as your property... using them to satisfy and gratify your sexual urges.'
But the judge gave full credit for the man's guilty pleas, saying he was genuinely remorseful and had a good chance of rehabilitation as his wife and the church remained supportive.
The pastor will be eligible for parole in four years.

He himself was sodomised by elder brother, who also raped the sister.
ON A SUNDAY he was allowed to go home fom the Singapore Boys' Home last September, a teenager raped his older sister when he got back.
The 16-year-old pleaded guilty in the High Court today but the case was adjourned for an independent psychiatric assessment.
His lawyers felt that he could be emotionally scarred as he had been sodomised by an elder brother, who also raped the same sister in 2002. His brother, now 20, is serving sentence.
The court earlier heard that a psychiatrist at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) had found the sister, who is two years older, to be mildly retarded with an IQ of 64, lower than the normal 90-100.
She was raped in her bedroom of their four-room HDB flat at 4.20 pm while the mother was sleeping in the master bedroom and an 11-year-old brother, who is also mentally retarded, was in the living room.
The offender then returned to the Boys' Home with his mother. The raped sister decided to tell an uncle living nearby. The uncle called the mother and told her but her son bolted as they were approaching the uncle's flat.
He was arrested five days later. He had been placed in the Boys' Home for two years for committing robbery with some friends in April 2005, while on probation for burglary, receiving stolen property and inhalant abuse.
An IMH psychiatrist found him to be beyond parental control and without the capacity and motivation to change for the better.
None of them can be named to protect the identity of the victim.

IMAGINE the nightmare this poor girl has had to endure.
First, her elder brother, who was entrusted by their parents to care for his siblings, raped her.
That was in 2001, when she was just 12. It is not clear how many times and for how long he preyed on her, but when he was taken to court in 2003, he faced two charges, with another two taken into consideration.
She may have breathed easier after he was sentenced to 20 years in jail.
But last year, she relived her worst nightmare.
This time, her younger brother forced himself on her in her bedroom in broad daylight while their mother was asleep in another room.
The family's tragic tale unfolded yesterday when the younger brother was convicted of raping her.
The boy, 16, who pleaded guilty to one charge of rape, faces up to 20 years in jail, like his elder brother.
Both accused and victim are mentally-challenged, with the sister, now 18, having an IQ of 64. None of the family members can be named to protect the victim's identity.
Details of the family's six-year saga of rape emerged when his lawyers, Mr Noor Marican and Mr Sunil Sudheesan, asked for the mitigation and sentencing to be postponed.
They want another psychiatrist to examine their client, who was also molested by the same older brother in 2002 when he was 11.
Mr Marican, of Marican & Associates, argued his case after Deputy Public Prosecutor Stella Tan read out the facts of the present case.
Asking Justice Choo Han Teck for an adjournment, Mr Marican said: 'There was an incident in 2002 when our client was sexually abused by his older brother. The brother is currently serving a 20-year imprisonment.
'If we mitigate based on the facts of the case, it wouldn't be fair to our client. We seriously feel that an independent psychiatric assessment on our client is necessary.'
The boy was on home leave from the Singapore Boys' Home when he raped his sister last 17 Sep.
Since April 2005, he had been detained at the home for breaching a probation order imposed in 2004 for committing theft, receiving stolen items and inhalant abuse.
But he was allowed to go home three Sundays in a month, and it was on one such Sunday that he committed his crime.
Around 4.20pm, he entered the victim's bedroom and closed the door.
Their mother was sleeping in the master bedroom and their 12-year-old mentally-challenged younger brother was playing a computer game in the living room.
BE QUIET
DPP Tan told the court that the accused told the victim to be quiet before forcing himself on her.
She tried to push him away, but he was too strong and raped her three times.
Upset over her ordeal, the victim cried in her bedroom, while the accused woke his mother up as he had to return to the Boys' Home by 6pm.
After her brother and mother left the flat, the victim went to her maternal uncle's home nearby.
Noticing his niece was not her usual self, he questioned her.
She cried and told her uncle and aunt what had happened.
The uncle called her mother and told her to take her son to his flat, instead of sending him back to the Boys' Home.
When she asked her son if he had done anything wrong to his sister, he denied it.
On their way to the uncle's flat in a bus, she asked him twice if he had had sex with his sister.
He swore that he did not. But on reaching the common corridor of his uncle's flat on the 17th floor, he turned and ran down the stairs.
His uncle and mother pursued him, but lost sight of him.
That night, the victim stayed with her grandmother, who took her to lodge a police report the next day.
FAILED TO RETURN
At around the same time, the Boys' Home lodged a police report against the boy for failing to return.
The accused was on the run for five days before he was arrested during a routine police check at Block 310 in Yishun Ring Road.
Dr Cai Yiming, a psychiatrist at the Institute of Mental Health, found the accused to have a nonchalant attitude.
In his report on 20 Dec last year, DrCai wrote: 'He spoke in a matter-of-fact manner with a lack of feeling for the victim. There was no sense of guilt or remorse of what he did.
'He could give an account of the offence. He stated that he raped the sister while on home leave from the Boys' Home.'
A further report on 17 Jan this year showed the accused, who had relationships with gang members, lacked empathy for his victim.
Dr Cai wrote: 'He was impulsive with poor behavioural control and risk-taking. He was beyond parental control and doesn't appear to have the capacity and motivation to change for the better.'
The boy will be sentenced at a date to be fixed.
Justice Choo ordered him to be remanded at Queenstown Remand Prison in the meantime.
The accused's parents, who were present in court, were solemn as details of the case were read out.
But they appeared concerned when the accused was brought into the dock, and communicated with him using hand signals.
The New Paper understands the victim is still living with her parents and siblings.

AN UNEMPLOYED man was jailed for 14 years and ordered to be given 24 strokes of the cane on Thursday for raping his stepdaughter.
The 44-year-old man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim, pleaded guilty last month to raping the 14-year-old girl at home in June 2006 and on March 1 last year.
He also admitted to squeezing her breasts one night in June 2006.
Eight other rape charges were taken into consideration.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Jean Kua told the court that one night in June 2006, the accused called the victim to his room and asked if she was having a fever.
When she said no, he felt her forehead and remarked that her body was warm. He took eight small white pills from his drawer and asked her to swallow them with some water.
After taking them, the victim felt dizzy. He told her to lie down on the bed and sleep so that the dizziness would go away.
Later, she felt someone pulling her T-shirt, shorts and undergarments. She opened her eyes and saw the accused naked and on top of her. He molested her but she was too weak to do anything.
The victim fell asleep and was later woken up by the accused who asked her to return to her own bedroom as her mother was coming home.
DPP Kua said when the victim woke up, she felt something in her vagina which she had never felt before. That night while she was watching television in her room with her younger step-siblings, the accused came and told her to make them sleep.
While she was asleep, the accused woke her up and asked her to go to his bedroom. She complied. The DPP said he chatted with her and asked to see her stretch marks.
He asked her to open her clothes but she refused. He then threatened to beat her up, accusing her of having sex with her boyfriend. The victim then took off her clothes and underwear and he raped her.
On another occasion after midnight on March 1 last year, the accused entered her bedroom and woke her up. He ordered her to remove her clothes and raped her. He stopped when the step-sister woke and began to cry.
On March 1 last year, the victim's teacher asked about her poor performance in school lately. She then revealed that her stepfather had sexually abused her.
The teacher informed the principal who in turn reported to the Ministry of Community Developments, Sports and Youth.
The victim then made a police report. Four days later, the accused was arrested.

Raping a stepdaughter is considered rape and not incest, right? Cos a stepdaughter is related by marriage to her mother only and not by blood... :?
yup no blood relations.
Incestuous activity need not be confined to blood relationship. Sexual activity between closely related persons, especially within the nuclear family is also considered incest, such as between a parent and an adopted child.
The most publicised case of such relationship is between Woody Allen, and his adopted daughter, Dylan

Well, if you choose to define incest on the surface level, OK. Point accepted. However, if going by definition as stated in dictionaries, incest is 'the crime of sexual intercourse, cohabitation, or marriage between persons within the degrees of consanguinity or affinity wherein marriage is legally forbidden'. A stepfather, once divorced with the mother, is in a legal position to marry his stepdaughter (perverse as that may sound). :faint: So logically, you can't say that both the stepfather and stepdaughter have committed incest, right??? :?

Josef Fritzl: 'I'm No Monster'
Updated:11:03, Wednesday May 07, 2008 SKYNEWS
Josef Fritzl, the Austrian man who imprisoned his daughter and continually raped her for 24 years, says he is "no monster".
Fritzl has been in custody since his daughter Elisabeth and three of her children were found locked up in a purpose-built cellar in the town of Amstetten.
While locked in the dungeon beneath his home, Elisabeth had seven children by him, one of which died shortly after child birth.
Three of her living children were imprisoned with her in the cellar.
But Fritzl's lawyer has told Austrian tabloid Oesterreich that his client says, "I'm no monster."
He added that Fritzl claimed credit for saving the life of his daughter - but that he could have killed her and all the children.
"I could have killed them all. Then there would have been no trace. No-one would have found me out," Fritzl said, according to lawyer Rudolf Mayer.
Fritzl's crimes were discovered when Elisabeth's 19-year-old daughter, Kerstin - who had lived her entire life in the cellar - was rushed to hospital on April 19.
But Mr Mayer told the tabloid that Fritzl claims it was his act that saved her life.
Doctors say Kerstin has been put into an artificially-induced coma and put on a life-support machine.
"If it weren't for me, Kerstin wouldn't be alive today," Fritzl allegedly said. "It was me who made sure she was taken to hospital."
It comes as an Austrian prosecutor meets with Fritzl for the first time since his arrest.
In addition, there are reports that photographers have been hiding out in the woods near the clinic where Elisabeth and her children are being treated, in apparent attempts to get the first pictures of the family.
Authorities have stressed how serious they are in protecting the family from the media glare.

This is one sick muther-fcuker! No, he's not a monster, he ONLY locked them UNDERGROUND, WITHOUT SUNLIGHT FOR 24 YEARS! Even prisoners are treated better!
24 years of raping ur own flesh and blood? Heck if that isnt a monster, i dunno what is. I think she should be like mid to late 40s already.

Oh wow, that is truly new old news.
Does it count step daughter which is not from his spouse.
Eg: Woman married a man with a daughter. Men dies leaving her a widow with his daughter.
Woman marries another man. And divorce.
Can this other man marries this 'step daughter'?
And I am only asking hypo question. Not intending to flame or anything.

Father-daughter incest case told of second baby
Daniel Emerson
April 8, 2008
A SOUTH Australian father and daughter who made world headlines after showing television audiences the child they conceived together had another baby seven years ago, who died from a congenital heart defect, court transcripts reveal.
John Earnest Deaves, 61, and Jennifer Anne Deaves, 39, are at the centre of a national incest scandal after telling Channel Nine's 60 Minutes that they fell in love in 2000 when they "discovered each other later in life".
The pair claim it was after meeting each other for just the third time in 31 years that they formed an attraction to each other, ended their respective marriages and moved in together along with Ms Deaves' two children, aged nine and 14, from a previous marriage.
The father and daughter each pleaded guilty in the South Australian District Court on March 20 to two counts of performing an act of incest with the other. The second count related to the intercourse that resulted in the birth last year of their daughter, Celeste, shown looking happy and healthy on television when 60 Minutes aired on Sunday.
The first count related to the conception of their first child, who died in 2001 after a few days because of a congenital heart disorder, according to court transcripts.
Judge Steven Millsteed banned the couple from having sex with each other, but released them on a three-year, $500 good behaviour bond.
Mr Deaves' former wife, Dorothy, disputed their claim that they were virtual strangers when they fell in love.
"They were in contact all the time," she said.

25 Years 24 strokes
Man tries to retract his police statement but is convicted of raping stepdaughter
By Selina Lum
HE TOLD the police he did it.
He told a psychiatrist the same thing.
The 37-year-old IT specialist admitted to having had sex with his stepdaughter since she was 11, but that it had been consensual.
But when the case went to court, the Indian national changed his tune - insisting that there had been no sexual relations between them at all.
Yesterday, the High Court's decision was clear: He was guilty of all the charges brought against him for raping and having oral sex with the girl, now aged 14.
The Singapore permanent resident, who cannot be named to protect the girl's identity, was jailed for 25 years and ordered to be caned the maximum 24 strokes.
STEPDAD
IN 1995, the IT specialist married a mother of two who had left her first husband. At the time, her daughter was about two years old, and her son was older. They all lived in India.
... more
During final arguments yesterday, the constant refrain of the man, who defended himself during the eight-day trial, was: 'Where's the proof?'
Prosecutors pointed to five statements he gave to the police over a period of three weeks after his arrest last May in which he confessed to his crimes in lurid detail.
But he claimed he had given 'false statements' out of fear and to get the investigations over with, so that he could tell the truth when he got to court.
'In my fear and using my imagination, I gave such a story as I was told to do so,' he said.
The reasons for his fear: he said he had been handled roughly - one officer stared at him while another told him not to 'beat around the bush' - and he was badly treated by the police in India.
As for his interview with a psychiatrist who examined him, he claimed he had to stick to his fabricated story as he was still in fear.
The man said the prosecution had no 'concrete evidence' against him. 'I'm asking the prosecution, what proof do you have that I did it?'
He also complained that the police had not stopped his wife and stepdaughter, both key witnesses, from leaving for India last August.
He asserted that he had been set up by the two of them after his affair with a colleague came to light.
The prosecution viewed their disappearance differently - that his wife had taken the girl away to get her husband, whom she has apparently forgiven, off the hook.
The Interpol bureau in India has been asked to help find them, but there has been no news so far.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Amarjit Singh told the court that the police have no power to stop people who are not accused of a crime from leaving.
DPP Gordon Oh argued that the victim's absence is not a reason for acquittal. As the law stands, a person can be convicted on his police statements as long as the court is satisfied they were made voluntarily, he argued.
DPP Oh refuted the host of reasons given by the man to explain away the incriminating statements.
Given that the man had claimed he was angry with his wife and stepdaughter for making a false report, the DPP said that the man making things worse by confessing to the crimes 'defies logic'.
As a highly educated person - he has a master's degree - the man would have known the consequences of confessing to a serious charge such as rape, said DPP Oh.
He also noted that the accused had no credible explanation for why he admitted his acts to the psychiatrist either.
Justice Tay Yong Kwang questioned the prosecutors on their stand on whether the sexual acts were consensual.
DPP Singh replied that there was a 'certain degree of consent' but questioned if a child of that age was capable of giving consent.
Although the issue of consent is irrelevant in deciding guilt in statutory rape cases, it would have some bearing on whether the accused receives a heavier or lighter sentence.
Under the law, any person who has sex with a child below the age of 14 - with or without consent - is guilty of statutory rape.
In convicting the man of all 42 charges, which included statutory rape and oral sex, Justice Tay said the evidence as a whole left him with 'no reasonable doubt' that the accused was guilty.
Four friends of the man, including a former colleague and a neighbour, attended court, but declined to comment.
The man stayed calm on hearing the sentence.
His only question to the judge, through a Tamil interpreter, was: 'What should I do if I want to appeal?'

Maybe you can ask your Chinese religious elders why no such rulings in Chinese marriage?
The 4 wives rule is a Islam 'optional' rule but not a must or obligation.
Neither should you convert to a Muslim just to be able to marry 4 wives either.
Its not a very common practice today. If you want to marry a 2nd or even 3rd wife, actual written assurance is to be given that the earlier wives are to be treated equally as the new wife. If any of the other wives complain, good luck.
To me, it may be a practical thing in the ancient times but not very practical one nowadays.
Taking care of one wife is already a headache. Imagine looking after 2.
I already have headache looking after 2 wives (my wife at home and my wife at the carpark... :P ).
One of the more valid reasons of having 2 wives is if the first wife is impotent or incapable of conceiving and proven medically.
Again, the husband has to prove and assure that he will treat both wives fairly and equally.

US Polygamist sect's children to be returned
WASHINGTON - MORE than 400 children taken from a Texas polygamous sect will be returned to their families immediately, a court official said Monday, two months after they were seized over abuse allegations.
A Texas judge ordered that the state's Child Protective Services (CPS) begin surrendering custody of the children to their legal guardians starting at 1500 GMT (11pm Singapore time).
The order requires that the children remain in the state of Texas, that the parents take parenting classes and cooperate with the ongoing investigation into charges of systemic sexual abuse among members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, The Dallas Morning News reported.
The judge also said CPS workers may remove the children for interviews if needed from the 690-hectare ranch near El Dorado, in central Texas, and put no time limit on the ongoing investigation.
'We wished it was a better order but, hey, get the mothers and children back - so we'll take it,' sect spokesman Willie Jessop said about the court order, issued after three days of negotiations between the judge and hundreds of lawyers from both sides.
The order followed a Texas Supreme Court ruling on Thursday that said the children must be returned to their parents, and that state child welfare officials had overstepped their authority when they took the 468 children.
The ruling upheld a lower court's finding that Texas child welfare officials failed to prove the children were in immediate danger when they were taken from the sect's Yearning for Zion Ranch.
CPS spokesman Shari Pulliam said the state was pleased by the judge's order because it allowed 'a prompt and orderly' return of the children.
'The court's order ensures that the state's investigation of abuse and neglect continues with strong provisions in place to prevent interference and ensure compliance by the parents,' she added.
Sect lawyer Jessop urged reporters to 'be super-sensitive' as the children reunite with their mothers, adding that after two months of separation, 'the toll on the children is showing.'
Texas police and welfare officials raided the reclusive sect's sprawling compound near the small town on April 3 and took the girls and boys into state custody amid allegations of systemic sexual and physical abuse.
Officials said girls were being 'groomed' to accept sex with their middle-aged 'spiritual husbands' as soon as they hit puberty and boys were being indoctrinated to perpetuate the cycle of abuse.
Sect members believe that polygamy is a way to get to heaven.
But despite the shocking allegations there have yet to be charges or arrests in the case. Police say the investigation is still underway. -- AFP

Rapist dad: I used condoms
PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA: He used a condom every time he raped his daughter.
For that precaution, the rapist said he should get a lighter sentence.
This mitigation riled Court of Appeal judges Tengku Baharudin Shah Tengku Mahmud, Datuk Sulong Matjeraie, Datuk Ahmad Maarop and those in the court gallery.
His counsel S.I. Rajah mitigated that the sentence imposed on the accused was excessive.
"Justice should be tempered with mercy.
"The accused used a condom every time he committed the offence," the lawyer said.
"You mean it is okay to rape using a condom?" asked Tengku Baharudin.
Rajah had no reply.
The roti canai seller, now 49, appealed against sentence because he was a first offender and was remorseful for his action.
Four years ago, the Sessions Court in Petaling Jaya sentenced the accused to a total of 36 years in jail and 20 strokes of the rotan on four counts of rape.
Sulong, who delivered the court ruling, said the appellate court found no reason to disturb the sentence of the Sessions Court.
He said the sentence was appropriate to send a strong message that such an act should not be condoned and to protect society.
According to the facts of the case, the roti canai seller raped the girl between May 2003 and August 2004.
The offences took place at their home at night when the mother had gone to work.
The victim was then between 11 and 12 years old.
Deputy public prosecutor Aslina Joned told the court that the accused, a father of five, had betrayed the trust of his daughter.
Aslina said the father would give the victim RM5 as a reward every time he raped her.
A class teacher noticed her to be in a state of depression and the girl told her what had happened.
Police arrested the man on Aug 12, 2004, and he pleaded guilty to the charges in the Sessions Court a week later.
On the first three counts, the then Sessions Court judge Nurmala Salim sentenced him to 18 years' jail and five strokes of the rotan for each offence. The sentences to run concurrently.
He was sentenced to a further 18 years' jail and five strokes of the rotan for the fourth count.
Nurmala ordered this sentence to run consecutively.

The Straits Times
He started off molesting her, his biological daughter, and then moved on to rape. The rapes began when she was 13 and took place at least once a month. On Thursday, the 39-year-old admitted to raping her 23 times, outraging her modesty thrice and insulting her modesty by watching her as she took a shower.
His punishment: 28 years in jail and 24 strokes of the cane, the maximum allowed under the law.The victim, now 16 and studying in a secondary school, is the oldest of his three children.
The court heard that her father began molesting her in late 2005, entering her room to grope her at night. The molestations went a step further each time. The girl, then 13, was shocked and disgusted, but did not dare resist his actions and pretended to be asleep.

Does God exist? Is Satan winning? Who pays the price of children's suffering, they do not even know what to do, they pray to God also no help.
End up adults and their stupid laws listen to defendent's nonsense defence, the victims have no say even if brought to light their plight.
How to have faith? The strong is bullying the weak, and goodness is reducing to a drip.
Evil begets evil. Some of these children end up abusive themselves, and the cycle repeats itself. As they acquire more knowledge than the older generation, the next sphere of abuse is even wider and imposing. Like a whole bunch of people suffering because of pyschotic or abusive history of one smarty pants like dictators. These widening sphere can be seen in internet, terrorism methods now, mass suicide, food poisoning. The world is in a total mess.

Bury me near Nonoi
Nonoi's stepdad was hanged last Friday for killing the 2-year-old girl. His last wish to family:
Last Friday, 2.30pm
As raindrops splattered down on the red mud at Lim Chu Kang Muslim cemetery, the imam's words rang out strong:
'The case is closed. The man is in the grave.'
In front of him, a crowd of 50 stood around a freshly-covered grave.
The man they came to mourn was Mohammed Ali Johari, convicted for the 2006 murder of his 2-year-old stepdaughter, Nonoi, and hanged just hours earlier that morning at Changi Prison.
'He has paid his price. May he fulfil his way to heaven,' the imam continued.
Old women sobbed into their scarves. Young men - Ali's buddies - stood stoically at the edge of the grave, clothes stained red with mud from having helped carry Ali's body, wrapped in a white shroud, into the pit.
In death, the convicted killer's face was serene; his neck marked, however, by a ring of bruises from the hangman's noose.
Earlier, at the ritual washing of his body, relatives had sprinkled rose water on Ali's face and tenderly kissed his cheek.
In death, Mohammed Ali Johari departed as a killer in the public's eye. But in his loved ones' hearts, he left as a son, brother and friend, forgiven and mourned.
Last Friday, 6am
Mr Rahim Johari, Ali's younger brother by seven years, fiddled with a crackly old radio in the kitchen of his Circuit Road flat, trying to find the call to prayers.
The 24-year-old security guard's head was spinning. He hadn't slept for days and hadn't eaten much.
But now, he stood in a neat, black baju melayu, dressed and ready. He checked the clock. 5.50am. Ten minutes to go.
Friends had told him that the prison hangs inmates at 6am on Fridays.
Mr Rahim quickly settled down, gathered his thoughts and began to pray. He imagined the lead-up to the execution and Ali's final moments, behind the high walls of Changi Prison.
At five minutes past six, overcome by emotion, Mr Rahim rushed out of the flat and stood alone at the side of a basketball court, in tears.
Above him, the sky was already lightening. His brother, he knew, was already dead.
Last Thursday, 5pm
This was the last day of visits. Mr Rahim said his final goodbye in a spartan room, through a glass panel and speakers.
Ali had made Mr Rahim promise to take care of his 3-year-old son, Daniel.
He signed documents to donate his kidney to his diabetic mother and asked to be buried near Nonoi (as there was no lot near her grave, this wish could not be fulfilled).
Ali, Mr Rahim said, had cried, but only a little. He had been joking, trying to cheer his family up.
The family had been told about the execution date three days earlier, on their routine Monday morning visit. Relatives and friends rushed to visit.
In his head, Mr Rahim counted down. The hours were slipping by so quickly.
31 Aug 2007
Today, the verdict would be given. There was still hope then, if only a strand.
A year and a half had passed since everything started. The trial itself was exhausting.
But today, as he took his seat on the wooden bench inside the fourth-floor courtroom, Mr Rahim hoped for the best-case scenario - life imprisonment.
He didn't understand much of the legal jargon being spouted. His parents, who do not understand English, listened intently, nonetheless, to every word.
The hours of drudgery ended abruptly with a shouted order from a court assistant. Everyone stood.
A pause. Then, the judge read out his verdict.
Amid the long jargon-filled sentences, Mr Rahim's ears pricked up when he heard the word 'execution'.
'Eh, siao lah!' he muttered.
As the judge turned to leave, wails filled the room.
On the second row, Ali's mother had collapsed on the lap of her daughter. Mr Rahim rushed to the front, raising his hand accusingly at Ali in the dock, as if Ali had somehow let him down.
Ali sat emotionless. He mouthed the words 'mama' again and again to Mr Rahim, and beckoned with his head for Mr Rahim to go to their mother's side.
A cousin rushed in to hug Mr Rahim tight. In front of them, the lawyers sat, half turned around on their swivel chairs, and watched silently.
Ten minutes later, the police officers beckoned.
Amid the sobs in the courtroom, Ali stood, smiled, waved awkwardly with his hands still handcuffed behind him, and left.
January 2007
The waiting. This had been the hardest.
With Ali in police custody and the case waiting its turn to be heard in court, Mr Rahim kept himself busy.
Ali's Kawasaki motorcycle still sat outside the flat, covered under an old grey canvas.
Once a week, Mr Rahim pulled the canvas back, greased the old bike and walked it around the basketball court. It would be ready whenever, if ever, Ali walked out.
Ali was the elder brother Mr Rahim looked up to, the one who taught him in his teenage years how to fish and repair bikes.
The case had faded out of the news, but three times a week, a sharp pain returned, when the family passed under the Aljunied Flyover where Nonoi was found, as they wheeled Ali's mother to her dialysis sessions.
Each time, the chatter would stop. They would look straight ahead, until they got out from the other side.
1 Mar 2006
Red berets and sniffer dogs swarmed the Circuit Road estate. Two-year-old Nur Asyura Mohamed Fauzi, also known as Nonoi, had gone missing.
Mr Rahim gathered his buddies to comb the neighbourhood, worry and exhaustion etched on their faces. But at least, it beat sitting at home, waiting.
All this while, Nonoi's little body lay under the Aljunied Flyover, wedged into a muddy, dark spot at the narrowest part of the flyover just half a metre high, and covered with a mound of trash.
When she was finally found, Nonoi was naked. The pink blouse and pink three-quarter pants she was last seen wearing were gone. Later, it was discovered she had been sexually abused.
It was Ali who had woken up on the Saturday morning, three days after Nonoi's disappearance, and confessed to his family.
A crowd would watch grimly, from behind police cordon tapes, as Ali led police officers dressed in white jumpsuits into a ditch under the flyover.
On Wednesday, 8 Mar 2007, exactly a week after she went missing, little Nonoi was laid to rest.
The search for justice was on.
It would finally end on a rainy Friday afternoon, almost three years later, at another freshly-covered grave.
Dunked in a pail of water
WHEN Nonoi was discovered missing from the Circuit Road flat of Ali's parents, he blamed his family for not taking good care of her.
He even joined the search for Nonoi.
Three days later, he confessed, claiming her death had been an accident.
Ali said Nonoi was crying at his Pipit Road flat, a stone's throw from Circuit Road. Trying to make her stop, he slapped and punched her but she did not stop, so he dunked her in a pail of water. She died after the third dunking, he said.
Ali then carried Nonoi's body to the Circuit Road flat and left her there, before dumping her at the Aljunied Flyover later.
An autopsy showed that Nonoi had been molested. The definite cause of death could not be determined. But the condition of her lungs was consistent with that of a drowning victim.
For months, Ali told the police that he had left her in the water during the third dunking to take a phone call.
But it was discovered there was no such call.
Ali then changed his story to say that he had heard a ringing noise.
Last August, Ali was sentenced to death.

Man will also be caned 18 times.
A GARBAGE collector, who raped his 11-year-old mildly-retarded daughter three years ago, was only found out when police were investigating another molest charge in the family last April.
It appeared that his brother-in-law who was living with the family allegedly outraged the modesty of his two other daughters.
In police interviews, his fourth child revealed her father's sordid act and he was arrested.
The 40-year-old father, whose IQ of 60 also places him in the mildly-retarded group, was deemed fit to stand trial.
In the High Court on Monday, he pleaded guilty and was jailed for 16 years and ordered to be caned 18 times.
The court ordered the names of the father and daughter not to be published to protect the victim.
The man had lost his wife in 2004 due to a kidney illness.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Wndy Yap told the court that sometime in December 2006, the daughter, who has an IQ of 59, was sleeping with her two sisters when her father woke her up and told her to follow him to his bedroom.
There he tried to kiss her and ended up raping her despite her refusals.
Two days later, he tried to rape her again in the flat's toilet but had to stop when his youngest daughter walked in.
This charge of attempted rape was taken into consideration by Justice Chan Seng Onn in sentencing.
Relatives of the family told reporters outside the court that the youngest daughter is about 10 now, while her eldest sister is about 16. Her two brothers are aged 18 and 20.
The family was then living in a four-room flat in the east with their maternal grandmother and the brother-in-law.
The father initially maintained that he had no sexual intercourse with his daughter.
He claimed that he had returned rather drunk from a nightclub that day.
He had shared a taxi with a club's hostess but she declined to go up to his flat. However, while at home, he saw a woman resembling the hostess.
He claimed that he waved to her to go to his bedroom. Instead, she pulled down her trousers and got him aroused.
Asking Justice Chan for leniency, the father, who broke down repeatedly during the hearing, said he would like to return home soon to care for for his children.
The minimum sentence for raping a girl below the age of 14 is eight years jail and 12 strokes of the cane. The maximum is 20 years jail and 24 strokes.
The case against the brother-in-law will be heard next month.
