The latest creation by the speed factory in Bergamo is the new Polini Maxi Speed Control for Vespa 300. It distinguishes itself for being the only variator for maxi scooter equipped with “air speed”. In order to get a better acceleration and amazing performance, Polini’s technicians have increased the excursion of the belt on the sliding surfaces. This peculiarity has been achieved by changing both the fixed pulley (air speed) and the unfixed pulley; in this way a very unique kit has been created. The new “Maxi Speed” for Vespa 300‘s sporting character is the outcome of an advanced project, which has been studied and developed in order to get as much satisfaction as possible as for the owners of this scooter. Actually, it is a real jewel of modern technology, able to express various driving features on every kind of road. Particularly, Polini “Maxi Speed Control” transmits an important impulse when accelerating for the departure, for passing or for slope. It optimises the engine performance along all the period of use. It stands out for the innovating system of lubrication, which not only increases the output, but also guarantees a longer life. The sliding surfaces of the pulley are exposed to a particular treatment, which reduces wear and tear and optimises the rollers sliding. The outside surface assures the utmost friction to the driving belt, allowing a steady traction. The semi-pulleys are made of die-cast, high silicon aluminium alloy. Compared to the original group, the better excursion of the roller allows to start with a shorter ratio, in order to get a quicker acceleration and a greater top speed. The piston pin is made of casehardened, tempered and chromed plated steel. The grounded, lapped outside surface characterizes it. The light alloy air speed allows, moreover, the cooling, for the benefit of better and longer performance. The rollers are made of thermoplastic wear proof resin. They have a specific formulation for the use. As optional spare parts series of rollers with different weights (starting from the original one) are at disposal, in order to achieve a better personalising of the variator’s features. The different rollers colourings make the identification of the chosen series’ weight easier.
