if u getting from shop you should ask them to do for you servicing 1st. unless its from a private buyer, bring to a shop do servicing. see whether there's an accident on the bike as well

Just ride, got any prob than go to those reputated shop and do.
Don't go top service or open your bike and do even though nothing is wrong.
Bring someone experienced and go with u to view bike.
Any ideas of what bike u intend to ride ? Street ? Sports ? Tourer ?
what to do . Life is tough

Honda vara 125 ? lol
Generally, check for visual damage or cover-ups due to some hidden past. Check thoroughly and take your time. If the seller got nothing to hide then he won't be afraid that you check carefully. Check for signs of wear and tear and also rust on parts like forks. Check the electronics to ensure that its working good also. IF you are unsure, ask someone experienced to go along with you.
If ur getting a used bike, dun have a high expectations that e bike will perform like a new machine...

free the bike from stand, hands on the handle compress the front fork repeatedly... it should compress and rebound freely, same goes to the rear as well. Check for leak, damages & loose fastener. Triple clamp should turn freely, free the front wheel from ground you should not experience binding, vertical movement and uneven movement from the handlebar.
Free the rear from the ground, grab hold of the swingarm & try moving it side to side... this would verify the swingarm bearing
bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

I think there is one hundred and one things to check. Bring someone experience. Yes.
Usually, interior can't check much.
To me, if a 2nd hand bike... can't expect much.
1) tyres... threading?
2) exterior body crack?
3) Meters
4) chain... loose? extended all the way? stil loose? ( old chain)
5) suspension, ( as mentioned by mild slevin) (Fork is expensive to fix if spoil)
6) start engine.. listen to engine, any funny noise (exhuast got modified before..)
7) check below the engine is there is leaking of black oil or something. (sealing, or gasket need to replace)
8) brake pads wearing out? push it forward n back wards.. hear got any funny noise?(worn out brake pads)
9) braking disc, any scratches ( brake disc oso not cheap to replace)
10) check the the headlight...when openingthe throttle, doesnt the headlight become brighter? If it doesnt, most probably is the batt , alternator, rectifier got problem.
Bringing sum1 experience oso does not guarantee dat e bike u get will b "orite"... Juz dun blame dat sum1 in future if e bike u get based on dat person valuation go bonkers![]()
