[Group] SUZUKI GSR 400/600
http://www.motorcycledaily.com/30september...zuki_gsr600.htm
The 600cc with all the right stuff.
Fully adjustable sus
Unseat exhaust
Front 4 pots calipers
Digital meters
A sweet looking swing arm
GSXR engine...
Everytime I see naked 600cc with front 2 pot calipers, only preload adjustable sus and look like 2 metal block swing arm, 600cc naked are one the best choice on ur rds but somehow lack of the "want it" factors and finally SUZUKI have all the great things we always wanted on a 600cc naked....

2. Pricing
For GSR 400 non ABS machine price, it should be between 11k to 12k. Things to take note for OTR will be the road tax(normally 6 months), insurance rate (depending on age and years of riding experience), COE rate(depending on the COE market), IU unit with bracket (depending on the shop), transfer fee if any, 7% GST for your machine and not including insurance, road tax and COE. And of cos how many years of loan you are taking and the interest rate varies from shop to shop.
For GSR600, prices range for $15,500 to as much as $17,000 OTR.
ABS version yet to hit Singapore.
Ultimately, its the individual effort to ask around the shops for the exact quote that the shop can give. Get a benchmark from there and can start the bargaining session. That will include your machine price, OTR, free gifts or free servicing.
3. Running-In
Two methods of running in of bike. Hard and soft. Which one is the best? The owner decide. Simple to say, soft running in is to take the bike for a slow walk, restraint from over revving. Hard running in is to rev the bike to the max for all gears.
To get the details of running in, ask the shop for recommendations.
Just remember to use mineral oil for the running in.
The two quotes below serve as a guide line for running in. Its NOT A STANDARD running chart.
Quote:
Regarding run in for new bike. Basically once a new bike is fully installed in the factory, they will rev the engine until red line for one minute then after that they will send it for shipment.
So in conclusion, there will be lots of metal chipping inside your engine. So it is very much advisable to change your Eo after you have clock around 100km. Remember to use the most basic minerals oil for oil change and change oil filter together.
1st Oil Change and Oil Filter is around 100km
2nd Oil Change and Oil Filter is around 500km
3rd Oil Change and Oil Filter is around 800km
4th Oil Change and Oil Filter is around 1500km
After the fourth oil change, you can use fully syn for your bike.
This is just a guideline for you. Enjoy your ride...
|
Quote:
from other threads on running in, theirs is as folllows...
500km => 50-80km/h (varies your RPM to about 4K-5K), change with mineral and oil filter
1000km => 70-90km/h (varies your RPM to about 5K-6K), change with mineral and oil filter
2000km => 90-occasion above 110km/h , change to semi and oil filter ( at this stage your bike is quite good to go)
5000km => up to you limit, change to fully and oil filter run in done

Suzuki announced the naked GSR600 at the Paris Motorcycle Show this week. A modern, powerful 600 featuring a version of the GSX-R powerplant, the GSR600 takes some of the styling cues from the Boost King concept shown at the Tokyo Motor Show several years ago. The sport bike motor has been tuned for broader power and more low-end and mid-range torque.
The GSR600 is fuel injected (utilizing two double-barrel 38mm throttle bodies) and offers extensive instrumentation, including analog tach, LCD digital speedometer, LCD digital gear position indicator, odometer, dual trip meters, fuel gauge and a clock.
The GSR600 meets EURO 3 emissions requirements. No word yet whether this bike will be offered in the United States in 2006. We may know more in a few days.

Nice bike, but doesn't it compete directly with the Bandit 650S? And to a certain extent the SV650 too. What is Suzuki thinking?

Maybe Suzuki is marketing the 3 bikes in the following ways.
SV650--- for V twin lovers.
Bandit 650---- for those with a passion for retro styling. Economical.
GSR600----- streetfighter lovers. High spec but non faired bikes.
Just my opinion.

yammy have been distinctly top in this category way too long. suzuki now seriously wants a slice of it and give yammy a run for the money!
the specs are tempting and let's have our fingers crossed that they are of good quality.
one big big no no for me though is the tank...

What's wrong with the tank?ANyways, the 400 version will kick S4 ass anytime. No offence to S4 owners.Just that this bike on paper looks good.Specs oso much2 better than S4.Me intend to get the 600 version.

Maybe Suzuki is marketing the 3 bikes in the following ways.
SV650--- for V twin lovers.
Bandit 650---- for those with a passion for retro styling. Economical.
GSR600----- streetfighter lovers. High spec but non faired bikes.
Just my opinion.

sounds like a spot on analysis

The bike has arrived in HK. They have priced it at HK$65800= $14000. The pricing in HK is often very close to ours. Hopefully it will be around $14500 to 15K.The review of the bike is good too.
