	Vespa has revealed the the all new Vespa SXL 150 Racing Sixties edition series, which is now available at <strong>Unique Motorsports</strong>. The premium that you pay over standard scooter is not overly exorbitant, and it gives you a very unique decal that Vespa says pay homage to the racing scooters from the sixties, and also an all LED headlight up front. Inspired by the racing Vespa scooters of the swinging 1960s, the Racing Sixties looks ravishing in white body paint and with sporty red stripes, with contrasting golden alloy wheels. All the chrome bits on the standard variant come finished in black instead on this special edition, including the mirrors and headlamp bezel. It’s an absolute head-turner.

	<strong>The scooter looks right at home along the city streets of Singapore</strong>
</p>

<p>
	The Racing Sixties is a colour scheme that Vespa has been offering around the globe on most of its larger scooters. This particular colour that we've had on this test bike is called the White Innocenza (translates to white innocence). The base colour is gloss white with a red and golden racing stripe running through the length of the scooter. Even the flared side panels get small racing stripes. The signature Vespa alloys are gold finished complementing the blacked-out mechanicals well. Also, the small windshield that you see on the scooter is standard on the Racing Sixties.

	<strong>The view from the rear ain't too shabby either</strong>
</p>

<p style="text-align:center;">
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" data-fileext="jpg" data-fileid="101636" href="https://www.singaporebikes.com/uploads/monthly_2022_01/V_SXL150RS-06.jpg.c3abec954bf3733eb61d29260d99bf16.jpg" rel=""><img alt="V_SXL150RS-06.thumb.jpg.f4401125f3f6d45bc47f3e53eff3a3c1.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="101636" data-ratio="100.00" style="height:auto;" width="600" data-src="https://www.singaporebikes.com/uploads/monthly_2022_01/V_SXL150RS-06.thumb.jpg.f4401125f3f6d45bc47f3e53eff3a3c1.jpg" src="https://www.singaporebikes.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></a><br />
	<strong>The "Racing Strips" are evident both from the front, side, and rear</strong>
</p>

<p>
	Aside from these changes, Vespa has not altered with the SXL 150 in any matter. The rectangular headlight has been one of the distinguishing traits of the model for years. Now, there’s an option of either getting conventional bulbs or LEDs for the headlight on the base edition but on the Racing Sixties, you get the latter. The semi-digital console is not the most informative with the inset displaying just a tripmeter, odometer, clock and a fuel gauge.
</p>

<p style="text-align:center;">
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" data-fileext="jpg" data-fileid="101638" href="https://www.singaporebikes.com/uploads/monthly_2022_01/V_SXL150RS-08.jpg.70b58eb805f98e9df8917e1b4ac85775.jpg" rel=""><img alt="V_SXL150RS-08.thumb.jpg.8fe5040980049fa7432bad56a33e7a00.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="101638" data-ratio="100.00" style="height:auto;" width="600" data-src="https://www.singaporebikes.com/uploads/monthly_2022_01/V_SXL150RS-08.thumb.jpg.8fe5040980049fa7432bad56a33e7a00.jpg" src="https://www.singaporebikes.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></a><br />
	<strong>Square LED headlamps and gold wheels - CHECKED!</strong>
</p>

<p>
	For the SXL 150, both the Racing Sixties Edition and the base model gets full-LED headlamps, a USB charger, and an under-seat lamp. The space is good enough to fit an open-face helmet, plus there’s a storage box up front as well. The instrument console, however, remains retro with an analogue speedometer with a small digital display.
</p>

<p style="text-align:center;">
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" data-fileext="jpg" data-fileid="101642" href="https://www.singaporebikes.com/uploads/monthly_2022_01/V_SXL150RS-12.jpg.41718b64940272596cc76f970593818e.jpg" rel=""><img alt="V_SXL150RS-12.thumb.jpg.9d3289948236d5c396d64ed728a48f47.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="101642" data-ratio="100.00" style="height:auto;" width="600" data-src="https://www.singaporebikes.com/uploads/monthly_2022_01/V_SXL150RS-12.thumb.jpg.9d3289948236d5c396d64ed728a48f47.jpg" src="https://www.singaporebikes.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></a><br />
	<strong>Semi-digital dash gives you all the convenience of a digital screen, but with an analog and retro vibe</strong>
</p>

<p>
	The SXL 150 is powered by the same 149cc single-cylinder engine that puts out 10.46PS and 10.60Nm in its new BS6 guise. The typical trailing link front suspension and monoshock suspend the signature monocoque frame with no changes in tune to the units for the models. Braking hardware remains the same as well with a 200mm disc up front and a 140mm drum at the rear. The braking is aided by a single-channel ABS system on the 150. You can check out the full engine specs at the end of this article.
</p>

<p style="text-align:center;">
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" data-fileext="jpg" data-fileid="101640" href="https://www.singaporebikes.com/uploads/monthly_2022_01/V_SXL150RS-10.jpg.da5749b547e3d9139f8af8d6fb28e8e5.jpg" rel=""><img alt="V_SXL150RS-10.thumb.jpg.9349464b0a06c78571c611a416665702.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="101640" data-ratio="100.00" style="height:auto;" width="600" data-src="https://www.singaporebikes.com/uploads/monthly_2022_01/V_SXL150RS-10.thumb.jpg.9349464b0a06c78571c611a416665702.jpg" src="https://www.singaporebikes.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></a><br />
	<strong>The all new BS6 149cc engine makes the ride a smooth and vibration-free experience</strong>
</p>

<p>
	The Vespa SXL 150 Racing Sixties Edition is a peppy machine with sprightly acceleration. Wring the throttle spiritedly and it quickly picks up pace, accompanied by a throaty exhaust note which is typical of a Vespa. The shift from carburetor to FI has resulted in a slightly crisper throttle response, while the vibrations are also more contained now. Another reason for the lively performance of the scooter is its light weight of 114kg (kerb). The low kerb weight of the Vespa also contributes to its nimble handling and flicking it through lanes is effortless. Further aiding its agility are compact dimensions and the rigid monocoque chassis which concertedly deliver a fun and engaging experience. Also, the extremely short turning radius means taking U-turns and squeezing it through tight parking spots is easy-peasy.
</p>

<p style="text-align:center;">
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" data-fileext="jpg" data-fileid="101641" href="https://www.singaporebikes.com/uploads/monthly_2022_01/V_SXL150RS-11.jpg.4c7269b9360b3bf550149a10d87d1664.jpg" rel=""><img alt="V_SXL150RS-11.thumb.jpg.49e2f2ecb37f3945c3232b840d6ae703.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="101641" data-ratio="100.00" style="height:auto;" width="600" data-src="https://www.singaporebikes.com/uploads/monthly_2022_01/V_SXL150RS-11.thumb.jpg.49e2f2ecb37f3945c3232b840d6ae703.jpg" src="https://www.singaporebikes.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></a><br />
	<strong>Blacked out trim around the scooter gives it a sporty and aggressive look</strong>
</p>

<p>
	There’s no change in the mechanicals as they remain based on a monocoque chassis, with an 11-inch front wheel with a single-sided link-type suspension while the rear gets a 10-inch wheel with a monoshock. Ride is still on the firmer side, giving the Vespa nimble handling that goes well with the sporty theme.
</p>

<p style="text-align:center;">
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" data-fileext="jpg" data-fileid="101639" href="https://www.singaporebikes.com/uploads/monthly_2022_01/V_SXL150RS-09.jpg.82e5b9509bb7e10f279054a5a2a9e625.jpg" rel=""><img alt="V_SXL150RS-09.thumb.jpg.b60239eed278ac18e78fea86bbf31521.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="101639" data-ratio="100.00" style="height:auto;" width="600" data-src="https://www.singaporebikes.com/uploads/monthly_2022_01/V_SXL150RS-09.thumb.jpg.b60239eed278ac18e78fea86bbf31521.jpg" src="https://www.singaporebikes.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></a><br />
	<strong>The single-sided shock on the SXL 150 with front-channel ABS</strong>
</p>

<p>
	One interesting point to note about the Racing Sixties Edition we've had on hand, is that in addition to the cool retro strips and modern touches of semi-digital display and LED lights, there's also an old-school kick starter! This has been a very useful edition that we've since seen disappear from many of the other modern scooters. This really puts you in a bind when having left your bike un-ridden for a period of time, it is most inconvenient to get it started again. Even the other scooters in the Vespa range do not come with the kick starters. This was certainly one cool thing that we noticed and hope that more manufacturers can follow suit. Whether this was put in to get it a more retro vibe or not we are not certain, but definitely a welcome addition.
</p>

<p>
	One thing we'd like to see however that was not evident, was the inclusion of a keyless entry system. With the Vespa priced at a premium and being a modern 2020/2021 model year, it shouldn't be too much effort to put in a keyless ignition system. Once you've tried the convenience of not having to take your keys out of your pocket every time you want to get riding, this is a hard convenience to forget.
</p>

<p style="text-align:center;">
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" data-fileext="jpg" data-fileid="101643" href="https://www.singaporebikes.com/uploads/monthly_2022_01/V_SXL150RS-13.jpg.503bd53f909fe5f9c045c2bef2456706.jpg" rel=""><img alt="V_SXL150RS-13.thumb.jpg.114cbfae331ab1cd13ae77cb999d7dc0.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="101643" data-ratio="100.00" style="height:auto;" width="600" data-src="https://www.singaporebikes.com/uploads/monthly_2022_01/V_SXL150RS-13.thumb.jpg.114cbfae331ab1cd13ae77cb999d7dc0.jpg" src="https://www.singaporebikes.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></a><br />
	<strong>A manual key is still required for starting the scooter, we reckon the Unique Motorsports keychain is a nice touch</strong>
</p>

<p>
	While you might be able to get other Japanese econ scooters are a lower price point, Vespas are more of lifestyle products meant for buyers who prefer form over function, exclusivity over practicality, and boldness over subtlety. We think this Racing Sixties Edition is a winner, and worth every penny.
