so u got a brand new aprilia rs125? i'm a potential aprilian so just would like to know more thanks

A brand new aprilia rs125 with the rs pipe i hear that its horsepower(hope i am nt wrong) is twice the older models thats y it is much powerful. If u get a brand new aprilia, i believe it will nt have much problem as parts are all new and this should serve u well for next few years and provide u take gd care of it. But are u upgrading for 2a? if u are getting a brand new aprilia wont be a gd choice as u may just ride for 1 year + and upgrade ur bike and therefore u will lose quite a sum of money.. But if u really like aprilia and have the extra cash to it, i would still suggest u getting a new aprilia rather than second hand as second hand tends to have more problems due to wear and tear and other unforseen circumstances. Aprilia rulez :cheer:

01 x FW plate Ducati 999s
01 x super old Aprilia rs125 extrema, the squarish lights

they do have R1s and GSXers too new ones...chio manz
I think the tuono/rsv milles are cool la...just sad haven't seen one on the road!... i'm sure R1s and Ducatis are more ex than aprilias

Juz got this problem recently, whenever i ride my bike at slow speed or high speed, it seems like my rs125 vibrate a lot whenever the rpm is juz at 3-4k. But after 4k rpm, the vibration is not that much. I'm sure I'm at the right gear at the respective speed. can anyone tell me what's wrong with the bike?

Vibrate? Well, i dunno if it's the same prob i and archarrow had encountered.. Is it the kind of jerking effect that feels like ur bike is gonna throw u off??

well, I encountered that when i maintained my RPM at ard 5 (below 6).. According to ah boon, it's becoz the flow of petrol is restricted (I forgot wads the thing called... :D ), once ur rpm is above 6, this thingy wont happened.. Now whenever i need to maintain my speed, i keep it above 6rpm to avoid the jerking thingy...

think ah-boon is referring to the CDI restriction

hehe the CDI restriction can be removed but i scare wait i did myself then CDI goes wrong then die liao.. haha..

Method of how to de-restrict the RS125 CDI to remove the environment dip :
-----------

With a sharp knife, dig out a rectangular hole in the BACK of the CDI (where the silicone is) about 30mm by 10mm in size and about 5-10mm deep. It may take some time to dig the hole out completely because the silicone that's used in the CDI is very strong. Once you've dug out the hole, you'll notice a bit of circuit board, this is commonly known as "the bridge". Using a screwdriver or a pair of pliers, break the bridge. After you've done this, fill the hole you've dug with Silicone, make sure you do it properly so that it's waterproof and no water gets in!. After you've done this, there should be no more environment dip between 5-6,000rpm!!

Ah Tee --> Still haf ur valve wif ya?

i do not have my valve wif me, mine is a specially fabricated valve

its made of stainless steel which dun break that easily...

previously i broke 3 valves one shot n realise there is no point in getting another one as the original one is too weak

i source ard n found one place which fabricate stainless steel valves

not sure if they still do it.

unless u r using a modded milo, no point getting that valve coz that valve open slightly later as its abit heavier, prevously my milo is modded that lets me rev to 12k, so 8.5k to 12k is still something to drag

if original milo prolly rev to 10k to 11k then abit no point

interested in the stainless steel valve pm me

i m not doinf advertising for them coz i dun like them myself,i got no choice then buy from them one

Recommend
--------------

2T Oil = castrol TTS

Spark Plugs = ngk gold B8EGV or B9EGV

Transmission Oil = Castrol RS (i know this is for 4-stroke engine oil, but it feels much much better then rock oil)

Air Filter = stock sponge filter should be good enough, however u got to change it frequently(around $6) as it absorbs water like a sponge & becomes crappy messy sponge residue after some time (dun leave home without it)

Brake Pads = any organic pad would do, This bike has damn good brakes.

Chain Lube/Wax = Castrol chain wax. (lots of people recommend motorex now, however it isnt available then)

Tires = GPR70

Lightbulbs = hmmm, i've never changed this before. It should be able to last quite a long time.

do consider rs125. take your time and choose a good 1. i personally think aprilia engine is quite tough if u really go and take care of it regularly. Maintainance wise is actually not be that ex. very much same as other bikes..change engine oil, top up 2t, wash carb, all this basic things how ex can iit be? 2nd hand parts can be purchased easily la.....
unless u whack it like hell. in this case, of coz engine will be stressed out and will cost u a bomb as there r the impt parts. engine, pistons etc...all these don't comes cheap. like sp, krr etc....

ArchArrow
19-11-2003, 10:26 PM
yes, i agree with solid pig.. do really consider rs 125.. i am totally in love with it.. it gave mi a feeling that my ex bike couldnt have given mi. it has larger tires and bigger body frame work with gd gemeotry that allows u to corner and cruise with ease and u feel more stable riding that bike.. Maintance wise it is about the same as the rest of the 2 stroke bikes, change gear oil, top up 2t wash carb and clean valve once in a while.. But there is a common problem in aprilia that is with its valve which tends to break and the magnetic coil.. valve breaks still okie u can block the valve (Dead valve if i am nt wrong) and save up $ till u got money buy new valve but if magnetic coil spoilt si bei xiongz.. battery wont get charge and horsay bike cant start liaoz.. got to push start  if u are afraid of this problems go for the new rs123 03 model. sleek cool and comes with the new rs pipe instead of MILO KONG. Hi,I'm thinking of getting a 2nd hand RS 125...i hear alot of ppl saying dat maintainance is rather or very expensive..how tru is dat??and was wondering if we could get the newer pipe and ask LTA for appproval...has anyone tried dat??cos the milo pipe is kind of a turn off...if not I would prob get a KRR...hope u guys can comment
One of my frens changed to the new approved arrow.. cost a bomb but to me, an approved arrow, how much power can it provide? He din update me abt the pipe tot..

The other fren of mine put in an unapproved one and hide it inside milo.. Cant be seen but can be heard.. Nicely done up by ah boon.. He'll be selling his rs really soon... DUnno if i shld buy over his arrow..

U interested in RS? my fren is selling his FS plate y2k..

yes, i agree with solid pig.. do really consider rs 125.. i am totally in love with it.. it gave mi a feeling that my ex bike couldnt have given mi. it has larger tires and bigger body frame work with gd gemeotry that allows u to corner and cruise with ease and u feel more stable riding that bike.. The raw power coming out of it is damn shiok but haiz too bad mi no $ or else go for the new rs

I would rather crash 125 first. gain experience first...must fall then will learn..my theory..using it to test my limits. first time on a sportbike no exp on 125 and 250 so i did badly on track so i need to downgrade in order to upgrade.

The technique is the same. The most impt thing is to "feel" the bike. I dont know wat makes u thing tat different cc got diff methods of in and out of cornering. Do you find any major diff in the methods in the 125cc, 250cc, motogp class or SBK?? If you happen to notice any diff, pls tell me, i would want to know too...thanks :D

Would u like to elaborate more... :? :? :?

If u were to compare the engine 2stroke vs 4stroke..than there is a difference in shifting gears (dont know how to describe in english) but not in cornering.

My point of views
-------------------
* 125 cheaper to get - $800, no insurance & road tax (not goin to buy also)
* 2nd hand parts are easily available
* 125 - a trainer bike for track
* 2nd hand bike - more daring to try. will not feel anything if crush.
* gain exp too.

the rs125 u buying u sure the front fork and rear suspection can support u when u go in corner ? condition of teh engine allow u to wrack the bike ?
still got some common problem like valve jam ,no power top maybe 140km/hr,drink petrol etc ......
u dont buy insurance how u going to transfer ownership unless u buy liao u cancal away that a different story.

i am still lookin for it. It is not a hurry for me but i have some in mind. Suspension is the main consideration of the bike. Aprlia stock fork cant be adjusted like my 600 fork. The front fork dont have preload and compression adjustment. Did not check the rear suspension but i doubt it got preloading. As long as both are stiff enough; not much of sagging, its ok. I dont expect thr aprilia125 to perform at its peak but it is a exp/"feel" im lookin for in the track. Crush...just scrap or repair.

You can purchase a bike without insurance and road tax. The trouble is u need a tow track to tow it away, unless u r a risk taker. You cant start the bike and ride it off on the road. Anyway, if your bike is heavily mod, u also cannot ride it on roads, unless u are a risk taker.

went to check with MahMotor. OTR $16.7 including 2nd party insurance. Really very gian. Somemore these are the really few left in Singapore and MahMotor are having them. Aprilia will NOT be producing any more 250CC and eventually there will be no more 2-stroke bike in future due to the emission by 2-stoke. So the question is will 2-stroke be rare or difficult to maintain. :cheer: But I would love to get a brand new 1 if I could afford. :cheer:
Difference between a older model RS 250 is that the older 1 is smaller than '03 RS250.

as long as they are the same length & thickness and the end tip "catches" are the same.
i've used before 'chiong' ones. abit too long but still work...check your clutch lever(most probly i think its chiong one) for any sharp edges or hindering of the cable when clutching in and out. continuous scuffing of the cable with the edges will one day cause your cable to kink and start to fray. once it starts to fray, it wont be long before it snaps.

abrasion. used "chiong" clutch lever haha, plus cable also chiong one lol. Originals are too expensive.

Those who ride before rs125 be it extrema, replica, y2k versions would feel that they have to REALLY use the clutch alot compared to other 2b bikes :P More use, more wear & tear. :D

as long as they are the same length & thickness and the end tip "catches" are the same.
i've used before 'chiong' ones. abit too long but still work...check your clutch lever(most probly i think its chiong one) for any sharp edges or hindering of the cable when clutching in and out. continuous scuffing of the cable with the edges will one day cause your cable to kink and start to fray. once it starts to fray, it wont be long before it snaps.

just send my bike for checking yesterday.. my bike nt clutch cable snap is the clutch plate and housing spoilt..  this time big headache.. no money still got tons of bloody problem..

Thats why no one recommends to get a 2nd hand aprilia.
clutch plates $100plus i think. i never changed before. normally what i heard is clutch housing loose is a common problem but u should still be able to change gear. where did u send for checking? u cant change gear? or cant clutch in? or?

anyway my ex-gsxr also used to display hard to change gear symtoms from 1st to second, neutral damn hard to get. down gears feels like it stucked. Then i went and got my clutch plates changed, the whole thing is feels like new liao.

well for my ex-aprilia, when i went for servicing, ahboon from ideal commented that my clutch housing also loose, but i have no problems with shifting gears. just that 'clutch out' there is some very soft loose clanking noise, but when clutch in the sound disappears. he says no need to change as most old aprilias are like that.

so i belief changing your clutch plates(i dunno for aprilia, if u can buy the clutch plates seperately or if it comes in one whole unit together with the housing anot) will help alot :P and there might not be a need to change your housing as that will cost like 400bucks. But of cos, im not a mech so u'd might as well seek the opinion of other mechs...
dunt know where ideal motors is? i can bring you there(but they are expensive:D) 1st motors at ubi is pretty good in aprilias as well, also ah kiong/ah ken at hkl(the rest can forget it) also good in aprilias.

can just check with u all, how do u guys maintain the electrics of the aprilia...heard cleaning it every now and then plus greasing the contact bits help a lot.

thing is, should clean the terminal contacts with simple electric contact cleaner from sim lim tower

for greasing the contact bits, what shoudl we be using? just plain vaseline from ntuc?

abrasion. used "chiong" clutch lever haha, plus cable also chiong one lol. Originals are too expensive.

Those who ride before rs125 be it extrema, replica, y2k versions would feel that they have to REALLY use the clutch alot compared to other 2b bikes :P More use, more wear & tear. :D

can give a rough step-by-step guide on how to change the clutch cable? do u need the special tool as stated in the aprilia manual

tealeaf
11-12-2003, 06:16 PM
hmmm i dunt remember any special tool though. u dunt do this every day so u wont remember exactly enough to put it up on paper on how its done just by doing it once or twice in a yr. its more of a when u see it, u'll know thing. just take a look at mech do it, or u can bring your bike down and i can show u. i'll only remember when i see it. at the same time i can show u how to wash e valve, adjust the solenoid etc...

for electrics just wd40 them will do. Contact cleaner will do fine as well but try not to get it on rubbers/plastics.
i've not used grease or seen anyone use it though, dun think its a good idea as it worsens the electrical contact. unless thats terminal that u wont be accessing it frequently.

okie it s a stupid newbie qn... but wats the rpm u guys change gear>>

maybe you can try this for gear 3 and above...
when your rpm reach 6k, put your left hand in the air, right hand close throttle, left leg kick the gear lever up and open throttle again
if you succeed, congrat, you have learnt the clutchless up gear hee

how then can the bike tahan... try not to go redline rite? but still muz clear carbon... so which engine speed best for clearin the carbon?

as long as your valve open, can liao lah...
make it a point to open your valve for every gear when you ride..
and try to maintain the valve open for that particular before changing higher gear..

you can always get a cheaper and better Y2K under $3500, provided you are able to fork out the full cash. it is always better and cheaper to get from a private seller. but if you're incapable, getting from a shop would be the only alternative..
try to settle full cash and get a 3rd party insurance..

i think you can search around the forum, had seen people selling aprilia parts.. the signal light cover cost like a few dollar from Ah Boy and the mirror you have to a the whole piece.. original costs around $50/-
or you can go to Aprilia Owner Club Forum (http://forums.delphiforums.com/revenge6/messages) to check around.
Guess that's all i can help.

your speed should be around 80 - 90 km/h, right??
no lah.. there shouldn't be any vibration..
if there's vibration, imagine how would it feel if your bike travel at 170km/h
when i tried that speed, i only experience great wind blowing my helmet away.. so have to stay low..

post to try my luck to sell my bike
hehe.. i'm selling quite expensive.. to be frank..
but cheaper than shop.. but condition wise is tip top..
it's not a Y2K but a Harada Replica.
Paintwork is the only 1 in Singapore.. <--- actually nothing special, many bike also 1 of a kind paintwork in Singapore.
BUT it's really a beauty. Aprilia GrandPrix Playstation 2 design It has a hidden arrow crouching milo pipe, a size 34 extrema carb, steel braided brake lines and Ohlin front shock <-- sticker paste only haha

Look at the rims
alright I'm letting go at $4000, PM me if you're interested.. anyone interested can PM me for contacts.. If you intend to try out my bike, I will have to consider 1st. my baby is too precious to suffer any damage

yeah.. very familiar and scary experience.. Happened to me be4.. For my case, It suddenly happened when i was riding.. still rem i was at the Mah Pte Ltd junction and my bike out of the blue haf that prob.. scary journey home.. Need to rev and play on the clutch a lot if not, it'll stalled.. but after I changed to 2nd gear, everything went smoothly.. At that point in time, juz pray hard that i dun needa stop.. if not will take hell long to get the bike moving....

ah boon just helped me tune again.. that's all.. Think it's due to the "magnet" that I installed..

you can make your milo swallow the arrow pipe at Wing Yap. It's located
along Balestier Road, you gotta check out the exact address dude
altenatively, you can do it at the famous Ideal, but they'll charge you
$300+, whereas Wing Yap charges you $220+.
I dunno the price at JB, but imagine you have to carry the pipe through
the custom hehe
it'll be a funny sight

no need lah. mine original milo can also can open valve....

the the diff is when u nearing redline... open valve also no use coz the can restrict the exhaust from flowing

it's kinda difficult to open your valve if you're using a normal milo..
cos the rpm is restricted.. you have to drag until very jiak lat..
the better way is to drop gear..
but i think it's not advisable to drag your milo bike lah..
cos 1stly, the air trapped inside the milo will cause your bike to be very
hot.. so the more your drag, the more strain will be on your bike...

unless mine already done up loh... but i dun think mine done up before... i tried 1st 2nd third and forth gear drag til 9k change gear all can then can feel the valve open at 7 k .... so i dun think will have such a prob

could it be your valve break liao or too much carbon so cannt open le???

u try four or 5th gear cannt go up more then 120 meh?

hidden arrow crouching milo, RPM max 12k
I'm still exploring ways to push the limit
might be doing porting to my bike and changing to a Boyesen Dual Stage Reed Valve.
I already mentioned, maybe you can try dropping gear eg. when your in gear 6 RPM 7K, drop 2 gear to 4th gear to open the valve.
But I still advise you to operate your milo or change to a RS or arrow pipe,
cos I really feel that a milo really strain your bike. Your bike feels very hot and the air circulating in the milo really strain the engine.

not of much use 1 lah... you tried my Y2K before, right??
how it feels with the RS pipe?
before I sold my bike, I changed it back to the milo, max speed only 110
and I feel I just installed an oven between my legs.

well guys, too bad you all missed out the Aprilia gathering.
Thou the no. of those who turned up were not that significant, but we still
enjoyed it..
shared a lot of stuffs about bikes, envying each other's bikes. We also
visited South Buona Vista, did a bit of riding here and there and finally
settled at Pitstop Bistro for some drinks.

I would really hope to see more Aprilia riders to participate in the future
gathering, even though too many of the riders will spoil the fun in riding.
Too many riders on the road is kind of a hazard.
But the more the merrier lah..
