Yes, they are still VERY cool.
I think the Racer, Classic, and Griso are still there.

Did you get yourself one, Scubasimon?

No I did not. The model I wanted is the V7 Special which they did not have and do not intend to bring in.

I also like the Stelvio NTX with the bigger tank but again it is a model they do not bring in.

I just got myself a Guzzi 1200 sport recently... the transverse V-twin engine is so intoxicating...

True abt d NTX, it certainly has value for $ for the offroadworthiness. However, I feel that the region of SEAsia doesn't do a heavy off-roarer justice. It really starts to become meaningful once the terrain gets flat and wide like central china onwards. Otherwise a medium weight offroadworthiness circa 180-200kg dry would work better given out close terrain and tight mountain mud trails. Of course we have open terrains but they don't go for hundreds of kms. That's just my opinion which many100+ccGS owners would attest against. But everyone's got an opinion like we have A$$h01e5! ;-)

Here, for big bikes, road bikes do well, light and mid-weight off road do well.

BTW, Looi's brings in the new steel tank- totally revamped V7s. Go ask them! A Stone just came n for a very happy owner.

Hi Hakimi, I can't tell you about a 1200 sport the way that Sankar73 can, but I can te you what I like and know about it:

You already know that the 8v and less than 100cc more over the 1100 breva churns out >85horses more. That's already a major plus!

The ride position, compared to a breva is more sporty due to the standard handlebar o. Clamps compared to the breva's higher reach. If spot is what you prefer over upright, then you'd be sold.

Accessories -wise, you're in luck cause it shares the same chassis and body work as the breva and Norge. This means you have an array of pannier and box systems to make the an effective Lo g distance naked sport tourer. Woohoo!!
I did a relatively deep study of the reviews on the various pannier systems around and I believe the original panniers designe by Guzzi are far better than the Hepco&Becker ones and also large as well as well designed. (I hope to be able to write a review on it soon.)

    I had a look and mounted one in Perth just last December. The beautiful white dials were reminicent of the sports machines and bikini fairing was really sleek. Here's a nice review;

    http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-...rsa/18026.html

Hope this helps! All the best in your search. In all cases, you won't regret getting on a Guzzi!

    Hi Hakimi,

I ride the 1200 Sport 2V model (2 valve per cylinder. It has 7 horse power less than the 8V model). I am the third owner of this bike.

Sitting position is very sporty and not upright as you would expect from a naked roadster. The handlebar is very far forward for my model. But I have read that the new 8V model has a revised handlebar for a more relaxed sitting position. Anyway, I have changed the handlebar on my bike to an aftermarket handlebar too.

The bike handles beautifully and is very stable up to 210km/h when I tried it recently. It goes into corners with assurances but do not expect sportbikes handling like Ducati Monster and the Aprilia Tuono. I have installed a centre stand on mine so ground clearances in tight left corner can become an issue if I try to be too adventurous (anyway I am a very tame rider). Mine came with the original Aprilia side panniers but I have removed them as I have a ST11 for touring purpose.

The seat is a little low and the fuel tank is big (23lites) so it makes you sit into the bike. It would be nice if the seat is a little higher as I have a tall rider with a big ass. The bike is much heavier than the other naked bikes in its class (BMW R1200R) but it has a lot of torque that pulls its weight well.

I was looking for a Griso but when this came along I just grabbed it. And I am very happy with it. I think I made the right choice too.

I am not sure if the 1200 Sport Corsa is being brought in by Mah. I think it has been removed from MG's line-up too.

    Hi Hakimi,

You may not find any MG at Mah. They only bring a few V7 models. There is only one Griso 1200 on display which belongs to a customer. You may have to approach other parallel importers if you really want a 1200 Sport. The Malaysia importer seems to be promoting the MG far better than Mah.

You are welcome to meet up with me to view mine in person.

I went for a ride on the Guzzi with some friends this morning. We did a lot of trunk roads.Oh boy, what a bike. It handled so wonderfully that I am falling in love with the bike. It is very stable in corners that you feel like you are riding a sports bike. The torque is so sweet that it pulls hard in all gears. i am very sure that all Guzzi riders feel the same way with their bike.

Sweet sweet! I love the Bellagio - a Cali design with the CARC. I think I might just have some problems with the peg position and the saddle to peg height, being a long legged spider like me.

I'd love to see your bellagio in real life one day! :-)

    ride safe!

    Hi Guzzistas

I'm happy we've got this thread to connect Guzzistas in SG. this seems to be the most connectable thread for us. I thought the title could be tweaked (if technically possible), to remain relevant.

So I've asked Webmaster to tweak the thread title a bit to help this thread stay relevant to current. We must thank TS Gerd Holler for starting it back in 2006. we will carry on. This is what I sent. I hope he can help:

    _________

    Hi Kushinagar

    How are you?

Firstly, thanks for the good work on SBF. We'd be lost without you!

    My request:

Gerd.Holler started the MotoGuzzi Lovers 2008 thread back in 2006.

Lately, a few of us Guzzi fans have been starting to connect. I'm very encouraged.

The year 2008 in the thread title is misleading. It's a short thread, but it's the one we tend to turn to to discuss.

Would you be able to change the title that Gerd Holler started with, to a simple "Moto Guzzi Lovers" just remove the year. We still respect what Gerd started with, but it needs to meet the need of today and a yesteryear dating doesn't help.

    Thanks very much!!

    _____________

I hope this helps update the thread.

I'd like to have it connect SG Guzzista even better.

    Cheers!

    Well, almost!

Guzzis are very basic, but familiarity makes it all sweeter when we're talking about mechanics.

I had to leave my regular Honda mechanic when I had my Guzzi, but found a very helpful chap - Ah Hock from Combine Motors, Sin Ming Auto Centre Level 2. He knows Guzzi, ducs, beemers as well as classic bikes like CX500s, etc.

Honest and sincere chap. He's my first stop.

I think for more technical work Alan at Ubi (they call him BMW Alan, but he does mainly big bikes. He'll do more techy stuff. So dwg, you Qn on TPS reset and the ECU, ... maybe he might be able to attend to.

Finally, Kenny in Mah (serangoon) or Sporting Motors' mech ... (Sorry, my memory fails me for his name) will be able to help as they were send to do Guzzi training when Piaggio took over Guzzi and Mah got the deal - as I understand, but stand to be corrected).

    Hope that helps!

    Moto Guzzi California Vintage 2007

The bike that got a way!

I almost had my dream Guzzi in my grasp!! almost! Just as got my funds ready, a family crisis occurred and I had no choice but to redirect my funds to the urgent matter. Sigh! Cest-la vie - that's life! it'll be a while before I can get the resources to buy it. So I thought I'll share my disappointment. My dream. The CalVin (affectionately called) marks the end of 35 years of Californias which were civilian versions of the Eldorados and Ambassadors which made their mark in the LA Police Department as a CHiPs bike (Ah! Erik Estrada - for those of us who lived in the 70s! - although Erik never rode on a Guzzi - Hollywood had to have an american bike for the series, the rest of the real California Highway Patrol cops did). Guzzi won the tender and made significant business and influence on american motorcycling. The Californias came after the Eldorados and Ambassadors.

The Calis were special cruisers that had an excellent long distance touring ride position (proven by patrolling the long California Highways), super nimble among cruisers, simple to maintain, hardy as guzzis are, and the CalVin just has a understated class so unlike the "Look at me everybody, I'm so different from all the other H----- D-------s!" attitude of the cruiser crowd. The Moto Guzzi is different, Full stop. And only those who really are stand by them. (okay - just to make sure I don't sound discriminatory let me qualify my statement. I mean: Almost all Guzzi riders are different people, but that doesn't mean that all different riders need be Guzzi riders"

Anyway, back to the bike: With the new Bellagio and California 1400 with CARC transmissions and engine design, the CalVin made its mark as the bike which ends the line. I love end of the line or start of the line bikes (Remembering my 1995 R100G/S PD Classic, and my current Breva v1100).

Anyway, the following posts are some pics of the beauty that got away!

Wishing the lucky rider who'll get her well.

    Hope you like them. Cheers!

I second Combine motors as well. They are the old school mechs and no half past six jobs.

By the way, there's a indie movie that's just come out in 2012 on motorbiking and it's tension on freedom, and the struggle to freedom for a woman. It DEFINITELY is not a chic flick! An of course the motor bike star of the movies is a Guzzi 1000S (looks like the 750-S3 that kickstarted me on fantasizing about guzzis). check out the trailer and the director's commentary - http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...n-feature-film

I dig women riders, there's just something cool about a person on a bike -be it a woman or a man. It's just that for the former's so much more exciting to look at attitude-wise than the common latter. :-)

    Go ladies!

    Hey all,

Glad to see this thread very much alive!! So when are we organising a Guzzi outing? A Saturday day ride to anywhere in SG or Johor perhaps? It will be fun to see all the MGs together!
