I only know that my platoon mates had to attend this course before they could ride into camp back when I was in NS.

But now Class 2B incorporate the 3 DRT lesson. Dunno if its the same thing?
theory and practical different i guess.....
thanks for pointing me to the thread....wah, but it's from 2007, not sure if still the same now.
anyway, the one at ssdc sounds damn thrilling man. interesting skills to pick up.
not sure if cdc does similar stuff. cos the one @bbdc is kinda different.
i saw one of the instructors playing inside fig.8 with left arm behind his back before....
maybe he was warming up for DRC
quite amazing to see them when they are playing on their bikes

Rain today. Wet and Cold and constantly drizzling. Road is slippery.

Somemore have to do Figure 8. Did not fall, but engine stalled and bike fell to the side. Timing still not good enough.

However, the instructor gave a stamp for lesson 3. He told those who pass to concentrate on Lesson 4 and then brush up during Circuit revision. I guess Figure 8 is 1 place to improve for me.

    some how duplicate post.

    any tips for lesson 4?

Please don't tell me about reading the guide book etc. Many things not written down and sometimes it helps to see it from an experienced rider.

Lesson 4 consist of 3 part, Narrow plank, Sylum (short snake course) and lastly e-brake.

The whole lesson 4, the hardest part should be narrow plank and sylum. To pass narrow plank u need to clock up more then 6sec on the plank before coming out of the plank itself. Some tips ppl will give is to keep ur knee grip the tank, give a good trottle up the plank and half clutch throughout the course. only use rear brakes to slow down, look straight and dont look on the plank or else u will drop. that's some small small tips la.. Remember, it's immediate failure if u drop down the plank during ur TP test.

For sylum, just trottle and kick gear 2 and clear the s-course, somewhat like a snake moving. But! remember not to hit the cones also, it is also immediate failure if u hit the cones.

Lastly, e-brakes it's just to wack ur brakes lo... at low speed of 30-35km/hr... E-brake onli haf immediate failure if u brake and haf ur right foot land on the floor first. Else the rest is posture or technics points.

Good luck for ur lesson 4. It's not as hard as lesson 3 Cheers!

I take prac 4 three times cos keep failing e-brake! That was the hardest for me. My bike keep skidding and tires squealing then the instructors dont let me pass.

Bike no ABS braking, cannot whack the brake. Must be controlled or else bike will skid.
Look straight ahead, dont look down.
    Clutch in when almost stop.
Bike stall nevermind. As long as you show intent to clutch in.
Maintain hand on front brake until ready to move off.
Never let someone else's irrational fears hold you back.

i think the bike will skid or.. like "tad tad tad" coz either front or rear press too much
for me... just apply front brakes.
rear brake just put your foot on the brake lever.. not need use strenght
i think u must practise until u get the amount of brake to apply...
when right red line just press the front brake hard so just nice stop.
    that's how i get it.
maybe other ppl got other ways?

this one also interesting, perhaps u can try to refer to it from time to time during all your remaining prac lessons,

when I doing lesson 3 already got ambitious people asking lesson 4~5 already.

Apparently Lesson 5 is like a summation of lessons 1~4. motorcycle handling, lane change, signal and head checks, all circuit items.

The instructor brief the people by running through the circuit on the black board then all go and run through the items one by one.

When you practicing, you will encounter other groups doing prac 1~4, during such occasions, the instructors present will also note your performance and inform you if you are not up to par, like forget to check back, never signal, timing not good enough.

Just want to check with u guys. Is it normal for CDC 2B learners to take more than 3mths to clear Defensive riding theory?? Last I check there are ZERO slots from 01 Aug till 31 Oct. If a person is lucky enough to book all 3 lesson in the mth of Nov, he will still wait ard 2 more mth for TP. That is a total of 6mths plus WAITING time.

prac 5 no more "practicing", bro.
you practise during your circuit revisions...that's when the instructors are nice enough to correct you if they notice your mistakes.
during prac 5, the instructors will be there at each obstacle to wait to assess you, no more advices...........only pass or fail.

if i'm you.... i will write in to "ask" them what's and how their planning like for DRT lessons.
it's not very efficient that ppl have to wait 3 months for CLASS LESSON!

i once write in and ask this ask that...
after the customer service reply with a standard template reply,
i write in and demand they answer my questions.
then someone from CDC called me on my mobile.
so i spoke to him and everything.

    you guys can try.
