Hi, anyone out there know the correct spec for spark plug gap for Super4 CB400? I have a VTEC-II.

I know most people don't gap their own spark plugs and just install them but surely there must be a recommended gap so that we can check new plugs then later clean, check and adjust plugs. Also where is a good place to buy a gap meter?
Does the owner's manual state the proper gap?

Spark plug gap refers not to the valve, but to the distance between the electrodes on the spark plug itself. For example, I have NGK CR8EH-9's in front of me. On the box diagram, step 1 tells you to check the gap and shows you exactly what the gap is.

Every engine (bike, car, whatever) has a spark plug gap specification for it to run optimally. When I tuned my own car when I was studying in the US, one of the things I would do is measure and set the gap before installing each spark plug. It can be done using a very cheap tool that looks like a disc with varying thickness all the way around. Usually the gap specification is in the owner's manual but I don't have the manual for my VTEC II.

Here is a site that shows this for a different bike but concept is the same:

Wow I am impressed. I have learned something. I personnally seen those gauge from my friends B4 but never seen anyone selling it

actual it don't really matter ...
you can't really feel the much different unless you change the full set
i used to use splitfire for my s4 even with the cable
yes i agree that it may increase 1 or 2 hp but not for long

according to my mech, the performance will not last ... you can check the plug after 3mth, the condition is like having to change a new one liao...
and it so much expensive
now change back to normal honda NGK plug liao

hope it help you with your decision ...

Try before both brands Good for smaller bikes cos veri easy to kick start As for response pretty good lor One thing is it may help you to prolong the period(subjective depend on manufacturing and wear n tear) b4 your next services For me i using NGK iridium pretty good not as bad as denso and veri easy to start after prolong period of not using the bikes

the only special tool u'll need is a special spark plug remover for S4 (buy from LAB $7 but i get for $5 ). its longer cause S4 spark plug r fixed deep inside. the rubber thingy on top of the spark plug is removed by shifting the thing left n rite n in the same time upwards, repeat tis n the thing will come out. use the spark plug remover with a spanner n remove the plugs lor

haha, of cuz easy lah, i so stupid also can remove, u sure can one lah. jus remove ur seat 1st, then u'll see 2 screws holding the tank to the bike, unscrew them then tilt the tank forward by holding lifting up the part where the screws were holding the tank. ur tank now can be removed. i normally jus remove with the fuel hose still attached n let it lay against the handlebar but if u want to, u can remove the fuel hose also lor. when u wanna put back ur tank, note tht there two rubber round things on the frame tht ur tank needs to grip on to. its jus like sloting the tank it cause ur tank will have two "C" brackets made nicely to fit the rubber thingys. hope tis can help n
