if its metal rubbing metal.. probably your brake pads have worn off.. or blow off the brake dust and see if you still have that sound..

But your REVO is so new, right? Mileage on the bike now?
    How time flies...

Big is certainly a warning but small can be downright scary! Never underestimate the effectiveness of small.

After riding this Super 4 for a year plus, it's finally time for me to change the brake pads!

I've read all the pages in this thread. I noticed that there is a lot of mention about EBC HH brake pads. Is it really good? And, does it wear out the brake disc fast?

By the way, the brake pads on my bike is an unknown brand called "Kevlar"... I'm totally un-knowledgeable with regards to brake pads.

I need all of your expert help here! Thanks!

you clock so much mileage going on tour with pplater but nv changed brake pads before? wow.. anyway, yeah ebc is a good brand.. but hearsay (hearsay only, ie baseless) it wears off the disc slightly faster than others. i think normal ones like goldfren, ferodo will do the job well.

Thanks for your prompt reply! Yep, to tell you the truth, I'm a little paiseh lah... Despite covering that amount of mileage, I've NEVER changed my brake pads before

Do keep all of your brilliant advice coming! Maybe more brand names of those mid-range brake pads?

I'm very sure that these info will benefit all Super 4 riders out there!

Hey guys, just wanna ask my front brake isn't dat effective after rain pours on my bike. I really have to pull my brake lever hard b4 e brakes take into effect. I presume this is normal? Maybe becos of wet brake pads?

Also, when it happens to my bike, I tried intermittent braking n slowly my brake start to 'makan' again.

Is there sumting wrong w my bike brakes?

whats the price of brake pads? If i'm doing my HEL brakelines i might as well get my brake pads changed, the front brakes has this weird feeling, i gotta press more than 3/4 of the way to enable effective braking, and its pretty jerky. Not as smooth.

    Hi,

You'll need an internal circlip pliers. Preferably straight jaws. 90deg jaws may not be long enough to reach the circlip properly. Rest of the tools required are the common screwdrivers and wrenches.

    http://www.machinemart.co.uk/images/.../040210064.jpg

If you're servicing the front master cylinder, you may run into problems priming/bleeding the brake circuit; it's a Nissin design problem. If it happens, let me know and I'll try to explain the way to solve the problem.

    Cheers

    dude,

To service your calipers, you'll need compressed air for ease of pistons removal. Other than that, the rest of the tools are pretty basic. Having some fine sandpaper (at least 320) will be useful if you find some corrosion pittings on the pistons and the cylinder walls of the caliper. I used a coarse paper (~150) and finished it with a fine paper (400).

You may want to change your piston seals while they are out of the caliper too. They are not cheap. Let me quote the sales person "if can afford to ride Super4, then sure can afford spare parts, it is like that one". Bollocks I'd say. The seals didn't look any different to those that are used for Phantom or Cubs! Haha

    Cheers

u might wanna look at BRAKING rotors at $450 per piece for front and $240 for rear. I will be going Taiwan this month, so going over to see their rotors. planning to change to wave rotors for the front. but BRAKING is above my budget.

    bro get galfer la,
i mean i'm not trying to push sales
or saying which is better but
during my purchase for galfer disc front and rear
i learned that galfer was the first company to start
wave design so imo i thought why not go the the fathers of the disc world?
that's why i got it. plus point is it's much thicker than the original ones.
main points is better cooling & braking power cos they disc are made of
    carbon steal =) very ex..but i can't control myself..lol.
btw they are not fully floating ah semi only..

    hope this helps,
    Fred

I just changed to HEL brakeline from Unique Motors ($150).

Instantly can feel the diff in braking, braking distance is reduced, i using normal brakepads (newfren or goldfren i forgot which one)..

The brakeline had saved me twice frm going straight to the rear of a car.. I doubt so if i were using stock ones.

Hi my front brake cannot make it. I've decided to replace the stuff that earlier posts talked about. Namely the Brem 19x20 master cylinder and reservoir, Venhill brakeline, brake pads and disc.

All this will cost a bomb. The brakes are the first thing I spend on after getting the bike.

    Default rear braking problem~

    hi guys need ur help!!!

i had changed new aftermarket flower-type rear brake disc, new rear pump kit & pad, and brake switch.

Problem 1: brake disc become very hot after a normal ride, dunno why?
Problem 2: very weak rear braking power even at slope, the bike will row back when i only step the rear brake, dunno why?

can anyone help to solve my problem? everyday travel on the road, i feel very unsafe when only front brake effective..

    thanks alot

i guess like every said....new brake disc n pads need to run in ...give it some time...it needs to mate wif each other then the full potential braking power then can be reached.im still monitoring mine......
