by checking ur fuel gauge... which leads to some who mod their fuel meter such that at a flick of a switch the fuel meter will rise to 3/4... if get caught, even worse... fine for < 3/4 tank and jail for false declaration to customs officer...

You are just saving these petrol monies to pay for the fine later. However in most case, its probably imprisonment with option of fines though

Random checks i suppose. But do not test the system, just get caught once and all the money you saved pumping petrol will go to the fine

I suspect that too, must ask my wife tonight whether I have the smuggler/smoker look or not.

Last time when I drove a Malaysia registered car, they even let a dog jumping into my car sniffing and dripping saliva around…

if u mod the fuel gauge = cheating go jail plus max fine all that.

if u go in and get caught with the fuel gauge less than 3/4 or even 2/3 or even 1/2 => fine.

    I'm dead serious.
They say can't pump MY petrol on tank, nvr say can't buy and shop in malaysia.
dont be ridiculous, there are laws and customs duties governing what items and in what quantities can bring into singapore. not to mention malaysia customs also govern what items can be brought out. and petrol in large quantities outside your fuel tank definitely in the list of malaysian rules that cannot bring out. if you said 'bottle' or 'canister' of petrol mebbe still can, but you want to bring out gift-wrapped barrels?

you think the lorries carrying large quantities of stuff dont have permits and/or custom duties and/or taxes to pay? or maybe it never occurred to them to gift wrap their imported goods to avoid custom duties and taxes?

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

They do that at the Malaysia - Thai border up in the north.
If you ever ride up north, chances are you will see it happen every day, pick ups loaded with barrels topped up at the Malaysian petrol station going into Thailand like nobody's business.

Yeah they do, because enforcers lax. Try it at jb customs? Even you escape msian customs, no way you escape s'pore customs. Bottomline, laws and restrictions exist.

From the Singapore custom website, the official answer is "motor vehicle". Motorcycles were not stated "exempted" from this rule.

    Quote:
"If you are departing in a Singapore-registered motor vehicle, the motor vehicle must have at least three-quarter tank full of motor fuel supply tank. As this rule applies to all dutiable fuels, the driver of a petrol-CNG vehicle should ensure that the petrol fuel tank and the CNG fuel tank are both at least three-quarter full.

If the motor vehicle did not meet the rule, the driver can be prosecuted in court and fined up to $500."

Although you will see this sign that say "cars", they still can say that "this warning sign is to remind car owners, but doesn't mean bikes are exempted from this rule."

In the past, there have been bikers that kanna this check. Tank got emptied to find out how many litres of petrol inside.

can argue back it says 'cars' and not 'vehicles'. Also 'driver' and not 'rider'.

So going by Singapore's logic that only have U-turn sign then can U-turn, so If sign says 'cars' should mean 'cars' only hahaha

Besides some bikes got no fuel gauge, how to check? Open up tank and see also not accurate because some tanks are irregular shaped. Empty the fuel tank, how are they gonna do it? If have to dismantle the bike, I dont think they have authority to do that, unless they have a warrant

No need argue liao, just called customs to confirm, and ans is - "only applicable to cars", so motorcycles are exempted from this rule.

But if you kanna checked, dun quote me ah

I always have the notion that when the gas needle hits the red line, we can run a little more. And it was more than 5 times I was wrong with that thought. But for some reason, I still think that's right
