I don't even know there is a air filter before reading the previous posts. which the filter wasn't clean / replaced for at least 4 years ago.. lol.
I had a somewhat similar but slightly different experience regarding improved FC.

After getting the bike, I changed and put in Fully Synthetic oil and saw that my FC was doing 22-25km/l. I also realised that the oil is being consumed quite quickly. After doing some research online, I realised that Brazilian riders were using mineral oil for the Twister 250. It also makes sense as the engine was probably designed for lower running cost in Brazil.

I switched to el cheapo mineral oil (ah...$6-9/liter...what joy) and discovered that the oil consumption vanished, the power is better (less oil burning in the cylinder helps) and FC improved to 28+km/l. Heh...a pleasant surprise!

I use SAE40 EO (mineral oil) since I took over 4 years ago. and Every oil change is 1.5L, with or without oil filter change.
by right is 1.3L with oil filter and 1.2L without. never got "eating oil" issue as I change EO every ~2500km.
of the 4 years owning this beauty, I when up to Thailand (Danok, hatyai & Betong) 4 times.
Great to know the performance of this beauty.

That is great! What was the cruising speed of the CBX250 on the NS Highway? Around 100 to 110kph?

I was not so sure if it will survive a long distance constant high rpm trip but apparently it did in your case! My trips have so far been on bigger bikes.

    Please share.

I was cruising at 100~120kph, top at 140+kph. RPM maintain around 8K, top at 10K for around 30 sec.
but GPS speed was about 5~10kph slower
hoping to go Thailand border on quarterly basis.
is a classic good and low cost maintainance bike. too bad, only 250 of them in SG.
number getting lesser as some already scrapted.

    Thanks for sharing.

I changed my front sprocket from the standard 13 teeth to a 14 teeth last Sunday. I was curious to know if I could get a less frantic engine at highway speeds and better fuel consumption.

The result is abt 500rpm lower at equivalent speeds. The bike feels calmer on highways, but I would probably change it back to 13 teeth soon. The bikes has lost it's free spinning engine and eager acceleration that made it so endearing. It was previously a closet super moto and now it just feels boring.

Oh standard final gearing is 13 front 37 rear.

I haven't been able to gauge the fuel economy yet as the tank has yet to need a refill.

Excellent choice. I usually get my parts from Ever Success at Lembu Street. The uncle is always friendly and helpful.

If BS doesn't have the part u want and gives you the BS about it being Brazilian bike, parts difficult to get and all that rubbish, just go online to Masada and contact them. They will ship direct to Singapore. Send them an email like I did.

My experience purchasing from them has been written down earlier in this thread. Enjoy your bike!
