    which year?
if the newer facelift model then go for it. Looks good!
If the older model then drop the idea.
If got budget, go for the legacy GT wagon la... that's the sweetest haha

Like all subaru cars, fuel economy is not it's strong point.

For a 1.5 l car with a 1.3 ton body, it will naturally feel sluggish, so do expect Vios, Swift to outgun you at the lights. What it lacks in acceleration, it more than make it up in handling, and safety (NCAP) standard.

The handling is quite unlike a typical jap car as the steering is more weighty so you will feel it is firmer at high speed.

The AWD and a reinforced rigid body makes it one of the safest car in its category.

On Simgapore road, you may not feel the engine being stressed but on the NSH, especially on the hilly stretch from Ipoh to Taipin, you will feel the engine is struggling for pace.

Personally, the 2 l engine will give the car more performance.

Don't expect much for the 1.5 to perform like its brother in the 2.0L body. If you intend to have the 2.0L performance, just go for the 2.0L. No regrets, else buy something else if you've the budget. If you ask me, now is the worst time to buy a 1st hand car because of the high COE and etc.

Hi all, thanx for the inputs. For info, I'm looking for thw 2009 - 2010 models. Quite like the exterior and interior. But I also understand the FC and laggy acceleration for this car. Considering between this and cerato forte.. still looking around...

Putting the price difference aside, the Impreza will win hands down in driving pleasure. However KIA's 5 years, unlimited mileage, warranty will really give you peace of mind, unlike Motor Image warranty on Subaru, with so many exclusion clauses.

    are you driving a subaru?
I've more or less decided to get the car. Went for a test drive and I like the feel of it. True that the acceleration is kinda laggy. But its still better than my 6 years old kia.... haha... Most important thing is that I like it.

There are plenty of aftermarket stuff for the Subaru, especially the Impreza, and WRX, all readily available locally.

If you want performance, even with all the money in the world, there is only that much you can improve within the LTA legal limits. So don't waste your money.

You want a fast car, start with a WRX. Unless you are only going for bling

If u got deep pocket for a change in e look u can consider some of this below

-->> Bodykits side skirt, diffuser, spoiler, carbon fibre bonnet
-->> Lowering Spring, Coilover, Big Brake Kit, Nice Big Rim 16-17inch with low profile tyre
-->> Handling eg: Structbar, swaybar, Camber bolt n camber setting etc....
-->> Meter/Gauge: Defi, Pro Sport, Auto Gauge etc...
-->> Pedals, Gear knob, Steering Wheel to WRX/Sti Seat or bucket seats
-->> HID headlites, Led Pole Light, Led Brake light, Led lighting Cabin etc...
-->> In Car Entertainment aka ICE LCD Headunit, Amp, Spk and woofer
-->> Aftermarket Airfilter/Air intake system wif CAI
-->> Aftermarket exhaust muffler + Extractor to bring out tht Boxer Note if crave to hav the sound..
-->> ECU Reflash or Piggback Tuned eg: Unichip, E Manage etc...
-->> Crank Pulley eg: Perrin, Alutec etc..

My advice would be stay stock but thts hard so those highlighted woud be gd IMO
I personally prefer this for my daily ride (highlighted in red)
However if u wan a fast ride then a WRX is still e better choice

afterall i still find ts is a better drive if compare to cerato forte....

    Advantage of subaru:
    Bigger group of ppl
    More workshops that specialised
    more 2nd hand aftermarket parts
more dealers supplying 1st hand different kind of aftermarket parts
stockist usually has really stock in sin
Becoz market is too competitive for this brand, price is much lower than the past.

rims and exos is just cheap stuff u can get it from mostly everywhere... likewise u can consider west spec listing or maybe even more by switching to a bigger rebuild engine with larger turbos, but afterall dun expect much from a impreza ts, its meant for daily drive purpose with a maybe just a little fun factor.

Gonna change my rims the moment I collect the car. Any good shop to recommend? Been to Stamford, Htyre and Leong Seng to check the rims out but not too sure which one is more reliable. Any advice?

The subaru stock rims are really solid from Japan, and you get peanuts from the trade in. Use up your stock tyres first, and by then you may want to change your brakes, and that would have an impact on the rim selection. Otherwise you could be spending unnecessarily.

Meanwhile you can lookout for a set of used WRX rims. WRX owners usually prefer bigger rims with more aggressive offset which flush with the body or/and their aftermarket brake calipers cannot clear the stock rims. So you can usually buy these rims cheaply, and these are really good rims.

    2nd hand or 1st?

cheaper ones u can try swee heng building (opp geylang police station) got one "N tyres" shop, alot of ulu brand rims, can bargain.

leong seng those put outside one is 2nd hand rims, condition mostly should be ok or with some minor parking scratches. there're not the type who sell crack rims.

likewise if still cannot fit ur budget, can pay a visit to the infamous poh h3ng at amk... long waiting, reverse thumbs services, price now so-so not like last time that type of earn u $10 also will do that kind of business.

direct owner resale type, just go to subaru forum or rexfactor forum and see their buy/sell folder.

btw new subaru ts comes with wat tires now? potenza? the old ones are real solid tires where it comes with RE070... Classic~~

Now i only go to rexfactor... seems like the slightly more active one. Car forums really unlike bike forums.. not many ppl posting.

Anyway, care to teach me a thing or two about offsets? I have been reading about it everywhere but don't understand. For example, what does 17 x 8J +40 means? What is a good or normal setting? Bike stuff I can still understand, come to car I totally blur...

Also, any recommendation for strut bars? Any good one or is it all the same.. just a piece of metal? Thanx for teaching!

no worries man... rex tiny brakes wun overkill de, in fact they might save u from our local street culture sometimes.. in fact my brakes save me save me 2 times from our extreme street culture.

Brakes will only "overkill" when u fit a GTR brembo set into a picanto... the rotors will become his rims

err coz car forum mostly is ppl viewing and tok lesser in forums for subarus culture, mostly will meet up and tok co*k more, coz alot of sensitive stuff.

    17 x 8J = 17" diameter with 8" wide rims... +40 = offset..

offset just to clear ur brakes calipers (rims to calipers space) and will determine whether u need spacers..

ts wun have much issue on that

For strut bar i dun think u will really need any of those.... sorry to say but the car is too slow for it, adding it will be just adding weight. Even if u r hardcore driver, i still dun see how the bar can deflect before ur stock suspension system says goodbye to you.

haha if warranty is ur concern then leave it stock till the day u scrap the car becos Harry Potter are known to void any damn thing tht they can find on ur ride if u happen to change anything. Worse still maybe by changin pedals, seat or gear knob might even void.

depends how hard the person drive..

Go track can be leisure where the person may clock 3mins++

Go track can also be define where the driver drives 2.30 section and below.

Setup will be different, handling parts will be different, no defination.

haha.... thanx for all the inputs. I am quite sure I am not gonna touch my brakes... 4 disc brakes for a 1.5L car should be more than enough...
I think I'll mainly do things to enhance the look of the car... singapore cars, look fast, sound fast can already... dun need to be fast

Some question abt exhaust... for cars, do they sell exhaust tips? I know for bikes got endcan and full system... is it the same for cars?

ur car can play ICE like west spec... pimping, or maybe placed a PS3 inside so next time i can play inside =x

eh... I wanted to do a 17" but was advice that 16" is good enough. 17" apparently will result in higher fuel consumption. Still havent decide yet.

Also will change exhaust. Last I heard was that Supersprint is legal... wait till I wanna change then find out.. haha..

CF bonnet thought about it before, but will it affect the crash zone of the car? as in, cannot take the impact it was suppose to take with the original bonnet?

I wanna play ICE too but I realised that I am usually playing pirated music.. if fix such good sound system, then all the flaws of the pirated music will be damn obvious! hahahaha.... My fren spent $20k on ICE... see already also sweat... haha...

17inch rim will look better wif fender flush look when car is lowered. FC wise should be gettin 10-12km/l depending on ur right foot.

well my setup also haven't reach the 15K mark n it still sounds gd to me n other of my frds.. jus tht it requires more fine tune on my staging etc.. well whts most important is noe ur Budget for ICE and wht kind of setup u intend to do then u focus into the kind of speakers, amp, headunit n woofer tht fits ur budget.. at times certain used audio items fr the net can help save u some $$ so end of day u still get ur ICE n ur setup might jus cost less than $5K or below. If ur prirated source of music are clear not to the extend blurrish kind, it will still sound gd (not best as in compare to actual orginal CD).
