Default Any Chery drivers around here?

Not an elite brand but certainly value-for-money. Care to share your experiences with your Chery ride? Would like to get some opinions before commiting

Why would you say its value for money? You ought to know if it really is then there'll be at least one of its makes OTR when you count 1000 cars going by. Still I've not owned or driven one yet. Would really love to try one when groomwerks loan me their courtesy car when I send mine in for grooming.

I must admit I haven't had the opportunity to sit down and watch 1000 cars pass by yet. As for why Singaporeans haven't take to it I suspect its more a matter of stigma rather than quality/value

I thought it was value considering the features for such a cheap car, rear aircon vents, ABS, EBS, dual airbags, climate control, steering wheel audio controls just to name a few. For a rider who wants a second vehicle for occasional family use, I am giving it some consideration

Go test drive it, I really hope you think again regarding its gadgets compared to its drive. I've seen their headlights go blurry before. And nope, its not getting fogged up, the plastic is of low quality which becomes yellow and blurry over time. Still, I'd like to try driving one for the fun of it ;]

Go check it out in their showroom and look carefully in detail the engine compartment and interior.

Also consider the resale value of the car after driving for 2 to 3 years.

If I am given the choice, I would consider a Malaysia made car like the proton or perodua which is also as cheap and much more sought after than Cherry.
It doesn't make any difference whether a motorcyclist has the right-of-way or not, the rider is the one most likely to get hurt.

I would disagree in regarding the quality issue. Just because they may have a list of features doesn't mean it is good.
An example like engine oil (something which most bikers would be familiar with). Just because rating is same, doesn't mean the oil quality is the same.
Another example, say cameras, doesn't mean 1 cam 12megapix is better than a 10megapix. important is still the lens and the sensor inside.

The design and quality all makes a big difference. Todays cheena cars are about the same standard as Korean cars perhaps in the 80's. One day perhaps they will reach a maturity in terms of quality and design. But atm, as others have said, there are many other better alternatives like 2nd hand or M'sian even.

There are 2 cheena cars i regularly see. I think about 2 yr old, frankly, the diesel taxi sounds better than than them. Also i agree, the quality of simple things like their headlamps, discoloured. Interior i dunno, never sit inside (i wanna but more life insurance before test driving- LoL)

Also in Sg, 2nd hand value is very important. They may be cheaper to buy brand new from the showroom now, but say a few years later when trying to sell.... very likely depreciation much higher than Jap/Kor/M'sia cars.

Personally, if i was on a really tight budget and really needed a car, i would rather buy a COE car, or even a 2x COE car than a CN car. Thats a personal opinion, any who thinks opposite ....peace. Its an individual choice.

well, take a look for yourself and see if it fits your criteria.

i happened to own a china brand car before and never will again. it was the worse mistake of my life or rahter, my father's life. the build quality is absolutely poor, panel gaps were like 1 cm apart. i can even stick my finger in between them. engine was also bought from old stock of mitsubishi warehouses which meant lousy performance.

but of course, the newer generation of china cars should be slightly better. once again, don't let anyone's comment affect your buying decision. it's your money, your choice.

if you like the car, go ahead!

some aspects you can consider include quality, price, loan schemes, fuel consumption, comfort, how quiet the car is when driving, how easy it is to drive (eg. power steering, ergonomic buttons) and how the car looks.

Drove 2 different Chery car before... current Chery car driving for 2 years now already... Overall I would say not bad... My car brings me to KL n genting many time already... No problem at all before... Servicing done every 10k...

First car... Chery QQ 0.8l amt. Feedback: Totally cannot make it. Braking system fail, engine strength fail, Auto gear system fail.

2nd car... after looking at many feedback from Chery worldwide user... Chery T11 1.6m
Ultra satisfied with the performance. No problem AT ALL... Really problem free... Ultra good braking system... The ABS and EBD braking system really can bring ur car speed down from 140+km/h down to 0km/h in seconds... Tried n proven on NSH.

Anyway I am still driving my T11 and is still so very satisfied by its performance. My advise to all new wannabe Chery car owner....
    1) dun get chery auto car... their auto technology is problematic
    2) dun go for their budget range car...

comment from one of their technician... the 2 reliable engine from Chery is actually the T11 and the A5 which happen to be using the same engine...

Resale value wise... I using the 2 most similar car for comparison... Chery T11 and Toyota Rush.

Chery T11 price around 50k brand new. Toyota Rush around 80k brand new
    After 1 year:
    Chery T11 : 30k lost around 50% value (total loss: 20k)
Toyota Rush: 45-50k Lost only around 40% value (total loss: 30k)
Above info all extracted from sgcarmart. value are based on brand new car and compared with used car of 2008.

Jap car depreciation is not as steep as chee na car... but my theory is... The loss still ends up almost the same... The end winner r still those car dealer... No matter wat country car u driving u r sure bound to lose money nia...

Convenient n problem free driving is still the best... At least my T11 does all that...

chery qq + power pass mod is not that bad. the only thing which is holding qq 0.8 down is its air-con therefore power pass is there to remove air-con's load

Please do not buy chery qq, the car is only made for drivers who really not soft hearted.

this car can give you a shock of your life if your not skilled, on a slope

    i tried driving the QQ

sat in QQ, T11, and A168.

imo, need a few more years to touch up on QA part and styling .... Soon i can see its catching up on korean cars....

FYI, i sat on the a168 and i think the transmission efficiency is the same as the forte 1.6 EX. only forte is more silent and refined. that makes it one notch above the chery.

chery has terrible resale value prolly due to its low omv and no demand for it. so give it a few more years, let it develop and be a better maker.

btw, qq is quite a no power car. totaly cannot run one unless u high rev it. T11 still ok, but the console's build material is quite poor. but quality wise is ok.

as for A168.. looks abit like dead man's car. you know those u burn one... and also the road noise for all cars are terribly high. LOL.

a168 is square car and sounds like fitted with a diesel engine. lol

thats my POV. current i will still take korean anytime vs china.

I don't have good impressions of China made cars as well currently. That may well change in the next few years depending on how fast they can catch up with the rest of the auto makers. But for now, Chery is neither visually appealing nor value for money for me. Koreans have made significant headway since starting out. Just look at the Koup to see how far they have progressed. (Admittedly, the interior is still found wanting in terms of quality but from the outside, it gives the more expensive cars a run for their money)

It's not even about cheap or expensive when it comes to Chinese cars......
    It's about being plain dangerous.

Or just watch the QQ crash tests or the Chery A3 crash tests......
