Congrat to all who passed the TP yesterday It was great to see so many people passing on their first try. Do you recall seeing a guy tearing up his paper after he was being called up for immediate failure? I think he bought a bike already and was waiting to ride. maybe that's why so angry
Overheard his 'loud' conversation in the room.

thats damn sad la... i have not seen an epic reaction from students who failed their TP test... he must have teared up the paper, sweared and stormed out of the room?

Phew... Glad to know that pillion riding is not part of the test requirement. I have never pillion anyone on my Vespa before. Will be back for 2A soon!

i think for you, you probably need a longer time to clear the lessons, cos your vespa is very light compared to the Super 4, no clutch to play also. you need to get use to the increased weight, clutch and throttle control. you will understand once you start your 2A lessons.

Congrats to the graduating group of Class 2A and Class 2 riders who took their TP at SSDC today. Class 2 was 100% pass and Class 2A was over 90% pass (me included, yay!!). Big shoutout to 2 of the instructors who were presiding today's batch: Instructor Shaikh and and Vince Loh (sorry I know the name starts with V, but I dont know if I recall it correctly as Vince). They were very encouraging and guided us all the way. I enjoyed my 2A course at the new SSDC in woodlands. I previously took 2B at SSDC yck, so familiar with most of the instructors. Overall positive opinion of SSDC.

Default What, so many immediate failure still can all pass lesson 2

seem like lesson 2 is just 1 step away from being able to book RC that you the instructor passed all of us today so we can save $

that only a total of 4 rider today.. maybe that is why the instructor did that.

I dont remember 2B got such good fortune. Remember paying so much for 2B lesson4.

Default Support this SSDC thread le!

yalor, compare to CDC and BBDC's 2A thread this thread is just too quiet.

Whatsup with that? I always got this impression that SSDC motorcycle course is more popular then it Car course.

And that their 2B grad will be loyal enough to travel to woodland for their 2A course (haha, like me).

    Hi guys, need your advise.

    - I started to attend the 2A lessons in Jan 2010 and now cant remember which lesson i stopped
    - Now, I prefer that I restart with lesson 1
    - I have just gone online to re-enrol but the system says I cant do that and instead, do a course extension which i did
    - Then I go to the book practical lesson and system only allow me to book lesson 3 & CR. So does that mean that I've cleared lesson 2 last yr?
    - I cant remember a thing abt lessons 1 & 2 so wud definitely fail lesson 3 and am thinking that doing CR blindly wud probably be of not much use.
    - So how do I redo lesson 1/2 or shud I just go ahead with CR & get assistance fm Instructor during the CR?

The answer is clear. Just book CR and yes, you have cleared lesson 2 if you are able to book lesson3 and CR.

CR is 50% cheaper then a lesson. There will still be instructor following you but he will be more like "Life Guard at a pool" (looking from far). You still get the chance to ask him questions and he will still be able to show you demo.

Lesson 3 is Test Route assessment. advise will be to take more CR first before attempting to take Lesson3. Get the chance familiarize with the test route and regain your "lost" memory.

I will be booking a couple of CR now in preparation for my lesson 3.

Default advice wrt enrollment for 2A course

    Hi,
having not ridden since obtaining class 2B license a couple years back, would it be advisable to take 2A straight? or would it be better to go for a refresher course (if there is such a course) prior to enrollment?

    thanks!

    enroll 2A ba.
that will be the refresher you are thinking about.

if the instructor dont think you are skill enough, you get "trapped" in lesson one lor.
just like good old 2B course. but dont trap you long.

Hi Tan, probably you could tell us which gear u were using for the bumpy. The most critical point is to maintain half standing posture, it is easier to control the bike with that posture. Normally i use gear 1 and just control the throttle will do.

Hi other guru, i have problem in checking blindspot and signalling. Mind to share :
    1.when hv to check blindspot?
2.when hv to signal left and checkback?
3.In slope, if i was in first row of Left slope (just left turn from junction), i shud signal left or right then checkback?
4.In slope, if i was in first row of right slope (just left turn from junction), i shud signal left or right then checkback?
5.When taking a long turn, say if i was in left hand (form up 2 rows), i shud signal right then checkback right then move off and check blindspot right correct not?
6.When taking a long turn, say if i was in right hand (form up 2 rows), i shud signal right then checkback left then move off and check blindspot right correct not?

Sorry for asking so many questions, cos i failed due to signal and blindspot demerit points. Thanks in advance.

bumpy course is compulsory must use gear 1 right? after pylon must kick down gear. eh i think just focus more on completing the course instead of thinking whether you will fall. it'll be over in a matter of seconds. the instructor say must lean your weight a bit in front of your seat. maybe you can ask the instructor to teach you the correct way to stand, different ppl different build the standing posture will be a bit different one i think.

    1. whenever you want to turn (junctions, going into course, going out of course)
    2. when you are turning left at a junction after coming to a complete stop?
3 and 4. signal left to turn on to slope, stop, then signal right and check inwards, both on left and right side. moving off from complete stop is always signal right.

eh i dont really get what you mean for 5 and 6 haha.

3 and 4. signal left to turn on to slope, stop, then signal right and check inwards, both on left and right side. moving off from complete stop is always signal right.

eh i dont really get what you mean for 5 and 6 haha.
Check Blind spot--- always check in the direction of turning. Just turn ur head slightly to let the instructor/tester see.
Check back when move off --- Always check RH unless Kerb or blocked. If slope or E-brake and ur bike at RH side then check inward.

Blind spot is when you turn.
Check back is when you move off.

At traffic light, before you move off, you check back. Before turning, you check blind spot. So got to check twice.

Does the standing part count alot in bumpy?
    i have no problem standing.

but when i enter the bummpy, these are the usual outcome
    1) i lose control and turn out of the course
    2) too must speed....clear the bump with no chance of slowing down
    3) too slow...engine stall

think i have bad clutch/throttle control

    any tips on that?

    I no sifu
    1) just after u completed the earlier course (pylon slalom I think), stand up as early as possible
    2) grip the top part of your fuel tank with body weight slightly shifted forward
    3) find your biting point and in the correct gear (by now you should be able to find the suitable speed just before bump entry)
    4) the very first bump let the bike roll over as uneventful as possible (at any point you feel it's too fast, use the rear break to slow down)
    5) the second bump is where the excitement begins, maintain the half-clutch point of your liking
    6) blip the throttle slighty just before your front wheel climb the bump
    7) blip the throttle again just before your front wheel climb the next bump and the next bump ... (at any point you feel it's too fast, use the rear break to slow down)

You may want to do more circuit revision classes. Tell the instructor your problem course(s) and ask them to show you how they do it. When it's your turn to go bumpy, ask the instructor to spot your mistakes.

If you stalled on bumpy, put to neutral and push bike out from the bumpy.

Your posture has to be correct. I think there is some flexibility (e.g. lean front or stand straight; full straight legs or bent slightly) but you do have to stand to a certain extent.

For me, key success factors to bumpy course are:

    1) Posture
    2) Eye point
    3) Throttle control

Hope you can master it soon. I dropped my bikes many times in the course.
