Default Tips to taking Class 2A

    Hi guys,

those who has class 2a licence, any tips to first time pass TP?

eg. the pushing up of the class 2a bike when it falls might be difficult for me as i find some 2b bikes abit hard to put to main stand alr, let alone to push up a 2a bike..

abit scared as im not pro in riding and its been 1 yr back to driving centre (BBDC)..

i heard from my friend he spent $200 in overall only..

    advice pls!!

hey there. i just signed up for 2A recently at bbdc as well. i was advised that typically expenditure is around the $300 range, inclusive of everything.

if u've not been riding for the past 1yr, it takes a while to get used to the bike again... rusty la. each lesson 100mins about ~$25 only.

yeah, jus did my s/crank/e-brake/bump today, totally chui. s-course no confidence to go fast, not like 2B where the bike was lighter n easier to handle.

crank i dunno y my gear1 kept jumping... change bike alrdy also no use. so in e end need more prac sibe sianz...

ebrake was alright, just whack only. but bumpy i scared falldown, so the first few time went too fast, instructor see alrdy also tell me jus practice, cos i need another lesson to practice.. lol!

ok la, all in all 2A got just 3 practical lessons only. but if ure not a frequent rider, expect to repeat every lesson. get the experience and go thru the lessons 1 by 1. normal to repeat

as someone once told me, given enuff time, anyone can train an idiot to do anything. just need time nia.

there is no SP for 2A/2. it is actually RC but wear SP tags. RC can only be booked after you pass 3.01. have fun in your learning journey!

ya, abit fast! but also cos 2A only 3 practical lessons only, quite chop chop wan. bbdc also smart, eat our membership fee. $60+ for a year, when each year we can only take 1bike lesson nia. zzzz...

yup! as Jeethan said, need to pass our 3.01 first before u can book for revision circuits

i got 1 month from now till my TP! hopefully book 2 sessions of SP is good enuff. since 2A dun haf to go road, jus circuit nia

    Hi guys

I'm planning to start my 2A classes next week at bbdc. Can someone give me a guide on what to expect for each of the practicals?
E.g. Practical 1 - Slope, plank, slalom, E.Brake, pick up bike
Practical 2 - S course, crank course, bumpy section etc etc.

I hope to know the lesson structure beforehand so I can prepare myself. Hope this makes sense.
    Thanks!

hahaha...you already given out the answer.

anyway, all the things you need to know can be found in your 2a booklet.

i have only gone for 1 session & flopped very badly. All the bad habits i got over the years caught up with me. Got to recall how my 2b was like ( many years ago ). If you passed 2b just last year, should not be a big problem...same "style" ( no neutral, no right foot, check blind spots, proper signalling, proper hand grip, same circuit courses as 2b etc. )

not much difference, i will probably fail 2b if i have to take it again...all my bad habits & all. 2a bike is just heavier that is all...the rest is the same.

I'm rather worried about the bumpy course.. Is it hard?
To ride on the road, You need skills,Stamina, or even luck.

But to be a good rider, you have to change with your environment, and adjust yourself to its rhythm.

Cultivate the confidence to face the different situations. Don't let yourself to be subdued by the environment

i have the same fear like you before. you will get better after some practice.

it is more easier than it looks.

half standing on the foot rest. clutch in or step on the foot brake to slow down.

open throttle when the bike need power ie too slow or about to fall over to either side.

Remember to stand on the foot rest else you will feel very sore at somewhere delicate.
it happened to one of the chaps on one of my practice lessons. ;-)

for ebrake, remember tis few points:

    1. check blind spot, and accelerate till 40km/hr at 1st cone
    2. maintain 40km/hr after 1st cone.
    3. when ur handle bar passes the 2nd cone OR ur bike meter crosses the white line, apply 20% brake to ur rear brake and 80% to ur front brake. lock ur elbow oso.
    4. when bike wanna complete stop, clutch in and lower ur left foot.

    Done.

no 4 should be lower left foot? you lower right foot only when after the stop and u want to down gear back to gear 1.

after u stop u put down your right leg down then kick down gear on your left. then put your left leg down and right leg up. then signal before you move off.

I dont remember need to signal first. I down gear first before signaling during my 2A. I will be taking my class 2 lesson 2 soon, so can recall the right method

Hmmm... tats weird coz it's too early. For me, I would signal right after putting my right leg to pedal... n then check blind spot, move n stand half straight for bumpy course.

I just checked the motorcycle training hand book, it says signal right after putting right leg to pedal... so I'm right actually...

Narrow plank is easy bro. Just remember tis few points.

    1. Look ahead or look at d end of narrow plank when u r riding on narrow plank.
    2. Accelerate a bit faster when starting to go up the plank if u hav tendency of wobbling when going up the plank.
    3. Play with u clutch n rear braking. Simply say, clutch in, maintain accelerate n tap rear brake if Speed too fast. Clutch out slightly, maintain accelerate n release rear brake if Speed too slow.
    4. Grip ur tank with ur legs to have better stability. Dun ever open ur legs.
    5. Remember u r in control when on the plank. U can steer left or right lightly to balance up. Dun worry, the plank is not so narrow, still wide enuf for u to counter steer from time to time. And steer by moving ur arms only, not ur body!
    6. Count 8 secs (i think for class 2a) while riding on narrow plank in ur head so u know u pass d requirement.

Good luck bro, last time i thot its d scariest course of all, but actually its d easiest.

Look ahead means focus ur sight ahead at the end of narrow plank when on the plank. Dun look down or head down while on the plank as u could lose balance easily. Body posture would b sitting straight but with both arms relax doing balancing. Do not lock ur elbow oso.

Think should be ok ba, since u manage to pass class 2b. Maybe u can check with driving centre, and they might change to lower seat for u to ride.

if i'm not wrong, these super4 are custom made for driving centre. So, no VTEC (what for since it's only being used in driving circuit), rear light old design etc...

tats why when these bikes are sold outside to motor shop, the shop will normally sell at a very cheap price. so, must b extra careful when buying super4. Hehe.

Hi guys, sorry to revive an old thread.

I am planning to take my class 2A in June this year. Hasn't been riding since I passed my 2B as I have no money to get a bike yet due to being a student still. Any advice? I feel like take it asap so that when I graduated and started working, I can get to at least a 2A bike which gives more stability than 2B.

    Thanks
    Class 3 (31st October 2014)
    Class 2B (18th June 2015)

Waiting to take Class 2A and Class 2..

    Advice as to the costs?

I recently enrolled on 3 Nov at BBDC, and the minimum costs are as follow:

    Enrolment $70.55

    Riding Theory Lesson $17.12

    Practice 1.01-3.01 $28.89 x 3 (or $33.17 if peak hour)

    TP Test $79.01

=> You should be looking at $250 if you do not wish to go for any revision. While I cleared all my practicals on first attempt, I will be going for 3 Revision sessions (once per day, for three days before my TP on 30 Nov) as I have not rode since 2B.

So my costs for 2A is of or about $350.

In summary, minimum costs is $250 thereabout. Additional costs would be: peak hour surcharges, locker fees, circuit revision and repeat of any practicals.
