Not all bikers do that, and only those that does that knows the answer.

because bike normally is at the front or between cars , so we go to move off abit faster than cars so that will not trap in the middle of the car when moving somemore some of the bikers will tend to move off unstable de.... hope u understand wat i mean

so that they will get banged by people like that Ferrari Ma Chi...

moving off before the green light is dangerous IMO as you never know if some numbskull is going to beat his red light or not...

This might not be related but some cars like to inch forward too because they hate bikers who filter to the front.

It's always safer to check clear first before moving off. There are a lot of people who loves to beat the amber light.

u should ask those who do a right turn jsu before the light turns green

their mentality should be i can make a right turn faster then the opposite lane cars can cross the pedestrian crossing

We can move to the front of vehicle instead of the side of vehicle at traffic light. I feel safer this way as no way can the car move before u open throttle.

Aiya... They racers ma... Anticipate the traffic light but never anticipate accidents... Want to be a racer can la... But they want to be a racer, first they must learn to cover their backside in case an accident really happens... LOL... they're so fast, if something really happens, they're in the wrong and get claimed... Learn from me, ride safe cover my backside, claim people... Especially those mother f***ers who "can't see u" at 10:30 AM in the morning with heavy traffic and expects to settle privately with a measly sum of $500-$1000... My yoshi pipe, my jacket, my fairings... Seriously? They think bikes are cheap??? Lmao... That's excluding the injury, mc, loss of use and loss of income... He thinks his $500 is very big? Lol... Lmfao...

True. Drivers think that bike parts and repairs are cheap. As for me I always ensure the vehicles really did stop before moving off no matter if the vehicle behind horn me or not. Saw a couple of times green arrow not yet appear the driver or rider confidently move out thinking there was a right turn pocket but there was not.

These ppl can't be racers, cos sure kanna disqualified even before start of race.

Anyway, only slow bikes or slow bikers moved off before light turns green - really fast bikes dun have the need to do that.

The way I see it, most bikes are already having a better pick up than cars, so really no point doing so.

I think it's because those riders who do that is not wanting to cause any obstruction/burden/delay for the cars to move off behind them. That's what I personally feel, don't hate and discriminate, not all riders who do that are 'racers' I'm certain that riders are more defensive and aware of the dangers motorist might face on the road than drivers.

Ironically, ever since the Ferrari incident, I've noticed more riders are not gunning at the green light and looking left and right before moving on.

Anyway most idiots on the roads are car drivers, you'll never know when they will 'never see you' when you're right in front of them.

He kept inching way before the traffic light turned green. He made me so pissed that I high revved and moved on, juz nice the lights turned green. Hope he enjoyed his "polka-dots" from me.

I think its fine as long as the driver or rider picks up fast. Of course his/ her situation awareness must be good too. I have seen some who just do that and drive off slowly. Its disgusting.

    cars also do that.
some cars stop 2m before the stop line. perfect for motorcycles to squeeze in.
and......in certain cities, the front zone before the stop line is reserved for motorcycles. =)

I do that cuz the delay is fcuking long and the junction is clear and looked left and right.
I feel safer to leave all the cars behind and I have better acceleration than them.
I hate cars that accelerate slowly and fcuk some even worse, change gear = deceleration

And having a lawyer who is also a biker represent you is also important.

A taxi driver didn't stop at STOP sign and hit me. He offered $50. I said no. The final successful claim amount was more than $12k.

My accident finally settle, the amount offered $85k, lawyer fees $3.5k... Interim claim amount $10k, so after deducting everything I still get about $71.4k... Not worth the accident seriously...

Usually, my practice is either im first bike in middle of the lane blocking the cars, speed off once its green light to minimize slowing down the traffic but look left right incase got red light speeding cars or else i am middle lane beside the first car and let it speed off first.

i practiced it since 2010 when i first ride on a 2B and today if i recount, 2 or mayb 3 case that i would have been choke slammed if i didnt checked and E braked by a thin hairs length. Btw, super anti against riders that inches out of stop line onto pedestrian lines or even the junction yellow box rofl. and once its green light, i make it a point to drag over these sorrowful idiots.

After the Ferrari crash at Bugis, I ALWAYS check clear left and right before moving off a green light. I don't care if the driver behind is impatient. I want to stay alive.

    I concur.

Was in KL over the weekends and seems the drivers there are much more gracious. They do not seem to insist right of way but just give way. They keep a lookout for riders even when they want to switch lanes. Horns were used but not to express disgust or anger but to warn others of a possible collision and etc. Guess its because the drivers there also does actually have and ride bikes from time to time. Perhaps those taking Class 3 have to at least possess a 2B licence and actual riding experience on the road before they can enrol for Class 3.

Singapore is abit different from the rest of SE Asia, most people in SE Asia commute by bike so chances are, people who drive there has also driven a bike before. Well stuff everywhere else in SE Asia that can be considered a necessity is affordable, even by local standards unlike in Singapore where the govt monopolize and profit off the needs of the people.

Singapore, majority drive while a small minority ride, even smaller are those that do both. Many have the mindset that I pay more therefore I have more right

Roads in KL are terrible though, huge gouges by weather or accidents, well Singapore ain't that different in the future with all the half fuk patching.

Have to agree with this. There are too many cars who think they own the road, and tailgate everybody so they can get to their destination faster by few minutes

I think when bikers pull up in front of the first car at traffic light should not stay in between two lanes. If they don't pull out earlier, they can get sandwiched by cars from both left and right. Best to stop in front of the car to your left or right after lane filtering. That way the car can't inch forward and must wait for the biker to move off first. Make your intention obvious so people can tell what you are trying to do.
