    Default Kawasaki Agent in Singapore

Hi guys, Ive done watever research i can. But i needed more before i make my decision and i appreciate any inputs especially on pple who have first hand experience in this not just kopi talk. Anyway ive heard not so good stories about the agent of kawas here in terms of support comparing to our causeway neighbour. I heard kawa is really supported and big in msia.

I plan to get a class 2 kawa but im more afraid of the aftersales support in terms of parts availability etc. Any guys riding the z1000 or versys etc can share info if u ever bought urs from evershine? if the support is nt great then y not save money and buy PI bike instead of buying from agent am i right to say that? where do u guys go for parts? ebay? jb? im more concern of OEM parts in case any **** happens. want to avoid waiting like 3-4 weeks just for parts replacement. im actually really keen on the new z800 which i found already and its hitting our shores in march. there are prob hundreds OTR in malaysia already and i heard the waiting list is long.

    Thanks!

Now Kawaii bike have the best support in terms of parts. Of course i am not referring to the local agent. You can easily obtain them up north.

If u buy PI just have to worry about recall issues. But I am sure the shop will tell you np before u buy ....
so do your research and decide yrself

so far only there recall for Concourse, none for Versys or Z1000

yup! owned a verys before. Basically Kawasaki in Malaysia is very well represented. Most shops get the parts from KL Glenmarie Industrial Park, Shah Alam, they have a big inventory of parts there .

Motomatic is a reputable shop there when it comes to servicing kawa bikes. They could be just another authorised distributor.

The main reason why kawasaki bikes are not famous in singapore is because the insurance premiums are sky high. I just did a check with ntuc income and kawasaki is on top of the list.

Are you riding one? You sure it's because of the insurance and not other factors?

Is not as though NTUC is the mother of all insurance companies in Singapore lol

My 1L Kawaii bike premuim is almost the same as my non Kawaii Cl2 maxi scooter. From this, it confirmed insurance companies specialise and have preferences for the brand of bikes they would like to cover.

    dear fellow kawa owners

anyone here ever had their kawa bike on recall? does evershine really mail you the recall letter and follow up on the recall?

currently there is a ninja 300 abs recall for two items, the abs unit and ecu, but as of right now it is happening only in USA. whether only USA models are affected or the campaign is only starting in USA, nobody knows. after all, the ABS problem originates from the ABS manufacturer Nissin, which means it should affect all worldwide models. if only ecu then maybe they have USA-specific ecu that is faulty, the rest are ok.

there is no 'kawasaki asia' website where i can cross-reference my chassis number to confirm whether affected by recall, and i can only depend on the letter from evershine. of coz i can call and ask but the recall campaign is only just starting and only in USA so i expect evershine themselves would have no news at this point.

just wondering if any kawa owners experience recall before share experience.

bro.... why "die die must buy from malaysia"?

if you dun mind the authorised distributor, just buy from evershine. if for any reason you dont want to deal with evershine, you always have the option of finding parallel importer. i'm quite certain there would be PI for the Z800, just that i dont know at this point. i dun think any bike will end up die-die must import yourself from malaysia.

my ninja 250r got recalled in April this year. Received a letter from evershine stating that it is due to Vehicle Down Sensor. Have yet to get it done as i'm unsure if they require u to leave ur bike there

thanks for the info, at least i know if my bike is affected i will get a recall letter. probably the only advantage from going with authorised dealer. pity the owners who bought from PI which brought over i think from europe.

yes i think must keep it there. there will need to inspect watever recall item, replace and record. how long the bike will be there is a question mark, after all its a free service. if they keep it there for a week, who you gonna complain to, and who else is gonna supply the recall item if not them....

but the "evershine", where is it located? consider PI? you gotten from there as well? cause i'm thinking of changing but cant find a distributor etc. so yup, sourcing around. thanks for clarifying my doubt.

but the Malaysia side I heard its the same AD as the one in SG. hence the savings is actually due to conversion rate ?

this one about @Baal asking in another thread about the perception that kawa spares are expensive and hard to find. i share my own biking experience only, others who may know more pls feel free to chip in.

based on my ownership of a CBR600RR for the past 8 years, i realized that the main bulk of parts for regular maintenance are generic parts and do not need brand-specific parts. therefore the main bulk of your regular maintenance you are unlikely to experience any issue of rarity or expensive.

a small portion of parts that may wear out may need brand-specific parts. typically, these parts that will wear out, are either stocked by the authorised distributors or parts traders like FJT. and your workshop always buy from either these two types. you rarely need to replace these parts especially if less than 5 years.

the problem is if you buang and you require model-specific replacement parts that people don't normally need. what if you buang and need Ninja300 fairing? or dashboard? or piston, or something?

only in this instance you may have a problem. the fact is, the authorised distributors can order any of these parts direct from the factory. thats the whole point of being an authorised distributor. the problem is sometimes they dont play ball with your workshop. they will just tell your workshop 'no stock' and not order it for you. because they want you to go to them for the service instead of your workshop.

so 99% you are not going to face issues. that 1% *touch wood* buang or something, i donno.

based on my ownership of a CBR600RR for the past 8 years, i realized that the main bulk of parts for regular maintenance are generic parts and do not need brand-specific parts. therefore the main bulk of your regular maintenance you are unlikely to experience any issue of rarity or expensive.

Thanks for sharing bro. Insightful. Guess the once every few yrs part will be things like the electric coil, rectifier & engine internals. But if I know that the "time" is round the corner, I suppose I could place order via own shop & get the part in the next few weeks? Sorry, FJT refers to? Can SG bike shop order from them? Price wise similar to Honda/Yamaha ? I read deep into the part on the dont play ball.....jialat man !!! wah lao eh !!

FJT is a small shop deep inside Desker Road. the shop is like a small warehouse selling various parts of bikes, of every manufacturer. i donno if they carry every single part, but you'd be surprised obscure parts they stock. example, when i needed bolts and nuts for my previous CBR600RR fairing, the kind cannot find anywhere except Honda, and cannot use any bolt and nut from DIY shop, FJT sold it. they will take out a catalogue of your bike model with all the parts, and you point out which part you want to buy. they're not the only such shop. and workshops do buy from them.

yes you're right about the brand-specific parts. but even rectifier is not model or brand specific, and coil in theory is not something that wears off every few years; assuming no big screw-up in reliability, it should last longer than 10. i certainly never needed to change it in 8 years of ownership. engine internals, definitely, but these should also be sold by shops like FJT.

by the way, the AD not playing ball part, i have no specific AD in mind coz i haven experienced it before. but i know such things happen in general.

Thanks bro. But for FJT, since they know the situation for certain brands, do they mark up & capitalise on that?.....but yet maintain a little lower than AD?

Oh and also, do you happen to know if the AD in SG is the same as that for Malaysia. Kawa.

yes i think must keep it there. there will need to inspect watever recall item, replace and record. how long the bike will be there is a question mark, after all its a free service. if they keep it there for a week, who you gonna complain to, and who else is gonna supply the recall item if not them....
buying PI does not mean its not covered for recall parts. If ur buying from a reputble shop, they will definitely do the same as what evershine is doing for recall units. regardless the parts ccomes from kawa to all bikes purchase doesnt matter from europe africa or wherever. my z800 also had its ABS recalled for some reason and my PI bike also get its replacement parts without issues.

for anyones info, z800 is not gona be brought in by the agent. so if u want it u have to buy from other places that bring it in. there are tons of z800 on the msian roads. parts wont be an issue, the kawa factory where the bikes are assembled are all in thailand anyways. cheers

sorry, i realli dont know more than that. i dun have comparison of price between FJT and AD's. nor do i know whether Evershine (Kawa AD) is same parent company as Malaysia's Kawa AD.

i can tell you one thing though. when i dropped my CBR600RR last time and needed to replace one signal light housing, my workshop's 'source' quoted $60 just for the housing. my mech straight told me expensive and "maybe i can find somewhere else myself". i do not know his 'source' is AD or trader like FJT. but then i went to Regina's, exact same part like the original, right down to the embossed part number on the orange screen.... for $20. consider the mark up yourself bro. it did not occur to me last time to ask my mech what his 'source' was, but certainly its not him doing the marking up because he himself reluctant to get me the part in the end.

Thanks bro. Guess at 1/3 the price its worth it, Even if its meticulously faked in China since its not a critical moving part. Appreciate.
