i think the coe going to go up north again. most probably going to hit 3K and above.

Stop voting for PAP. Its really that simple, argue also no point. Alternatively,we should just migrate, I can't help but feel this country is nothing more than a prostitute.

yes, little red dot with the most millionaires n billionaires.
thats where all ours rice bowl...are.
too many luxuries cars on the road, best sellers mercedes benz followed by bmw.
top 5 car models sold r mostly continental with exception toyota (purchased by local sillyporeans).
next coe bidding cat 'D' motorcycle will be >$3k.
motorcycle is not a poor man transport anymore.
motorcycling is no longer cheaper than bmw (bus, mrt, walk).
papaya mind is theres no need for sillyporeans to ride motorcycles, transfer more n more coe to cars.
dun scrap your old bike, papaya will transfer it to car A,B,Open cats too.
motorcyclist will be a rare breed in the future, consider yourself lucky to be able to ride now.

was thinking of getting a 2b bike and wondering if the PQP will drop for this month.
looking at the current number of bids at LTA current number of bids still lesser than available quota?
or do they only start bidding seriously on the last day tomorrow?

if the bids remain low then high chance the price will come down right?

The biddings will be logged in furiously in the last half an hour or so. Trust me.

pqp is for extending coe after 10 yrs, coe bid is for new vehicle.
bids will drop-in (like crazy) on the last minute, no chance the coe will be low.
pqp will not drop, feb 2014 pqp is S$1,952.
pqp mar 2014 will be higher, est >S$2.2k.
reason is simple, based on 3 months rolling avg.
jan month second half is 2.7k (benchmarked), feb month first half will be >2.7k (cut supply, demand goes up).
highest % cut among all cats, coe cat 'D' quota cut from 503 down to 358 (28.8% drop).
dun dream of falling coe or pqp, papaya will cut on cat 'D' (motorcycle) quota n transfers to cat 'A,B,Open' (cars) on every opportunities.
if u want old 2b bike, it better to extend coe this month. dun wait, definitely higher next month.
car population (cat 'A,B') have grown from 400,000 (yr 2000) to 600,000 (yr 2013).
whereas bike (cat 'D') population has 133,000 bikes in yr 2000. there were only 145,000 bikes on sillypore road by the end of yr 2013.
jan 2014, record shows 144k bikes, motorcycle population will decrease as papaya implement cut only for this category.
there r no known cuts for cat A n B, only additions.

Ok so basically also means that very low chance of COE bid price will drop.

I don't think it will go down in the near future, as a lot of ppl are buying cb400x and the quota for the COE drop. Some bike shop are absorbing the coe increase, for class 2A and 2 bikes

if u wan different price for different cat of bike most likely 2b bikes will have higher coe. since more demand, unless they give more quota to 2b bikes.

It will not change a thing. The main reason for reduction in quota is the transfer of deregistered COEs to category E. And here, the shorter the lifespan of a vehicle, the faster COEs from a given category go to category E, that is to cars. Bikes suffer most, because they are deregistered faster, but the same situation is for the goods vehicles as well.

If you separate the class 2B COEs then, just because small bikes are deregistered more often, the COE drain for this category will be fastest. And at some point there will be a reversal, when COE for big bikes will probably be cheaper.

I remember myself opposing views of forummers saying motorcycle COE was too expensive, that was when it was 1-2k. Now i can join in the ranks and make noise as things really starts to go bad.

I guess this has to do with cutting of motorcycle quota to fulfill open CAT COE. Doesn't make sense to me, how can reducing motorcycle on the road to increase car coe ease congestion? Now is car jam or bike jam?

Heng I just buy 2k COE, hope some drastic change happens before 10yrs up.

.....why can't there be different categories of coe for different sizes of motorbikes just like cars? .....
u r wrong if there r segregation coe like cars for bikes, coe class 2b will rocket up even faster.
reason is very simple: population for class 2 bikes r very few as compared to class 2b bikes.
    75% of riders r class 2b licenses holders, <20% class 2a licenses holders n <10% r class 2 licenses holders......do your maths.
class 2 bikers will benefits the low coe prices. unless u r a class 2 license holder, tats y u r asking for segregation in category.

    ps:
many class2 lic owners also own another smaller bike, becoz big cc too powerful, fast n furious, only for weekend get away.
in sillypore, u can get lic revoke. in malaysai, just pay $$$.

very soon all mototiam will close shop, many will loss money coz too expensive to extend coe for old bikes.
based on current first half coe @ S$3051, pqp est for mar is S$2400.
if 10 yrs bike in good conditions, still can keep n ride for another 10 yrs.
more than 20 yrs n rotten bikes can scrap, its not worth keeping it to pay so much money to papaya.
can foresee many rk, rx, rxk, nsr, kr all heading to scrap yards soon.

Ironic, because under current system of 0.5% growth and 15% allocation to Cat E average bike has to stay on the road for 30 years for the number of bikes to be the same

something is not right, growth 0.5% of ???
current bike population is 144k down last month from 145k end of yr 2013.
looks like 1000 bikes r scrapped each month, assuming this is truth.
0.5% of 144k is 7200........bike population should grow instead of shrinking.
    smelling fishy........

Cant remember when but in the late 90's they took away bike COE quotas and converted to other vehicles 'cos bike COE was then very low ,as low as $1 while cars were $30 to $50k, this was before we had forums to chat and complain.
Back then all riders and dealers could do was mumble and grumble, even so now, more than 15 years later, our voices are not heard. Only money talks, so the rich can buy the newest cars their hearts desire, makes gahmen happier so got more money to help public transport improve. Have you seen enough improvements to make you decide to take the overcrowded and worn out, erractic public transport?
