Anyone seen this slim pannier lid replacement for K1600 / 2014- R1200RT Panniers?
For local can use this to slim down the panniers for easy manoeuvre in city traffic.
Found this in Japan website, blady ex. Wonder if can find locally.

If commute mainly on expressway it's fine, even with traffic jam. With side panniers off, no problem lane split. If you're always stuck in traffic CBD area, then get a kup kia. When I say parking, I am referring to legs down pushing bike around. But once moving even at walking pace, it is manageable, like most class 2 bikes. The GTL seat is quite low, more reassuring to put both feet flat on ground. I agree it is a heavy bike, similar to ST1300. Once you get used to the weight, there is nothing you can't handle

    BTW, teambhp, you ride K16?

It's at Tebrau. Near Jusco. Wearnes Automotive. They do servicing for SG BMW bikes as I have many friends who brought their GS there for servicing. Definitely save a lot considering the Sg:Myr rate.

Bro, i checked the price for servicing for inline 6 engine. Not much savings. Was quoted about 800rm and Singapore PML did one of my friend's GTL at S$277.

I see. Perhaps Boxers and IL6 servicing rates are different. All my friends riding GSA hence the price review I shared earlier. Apologies man.

Anyone riding GTL and GT series can just have some pointers what made you choose one over the other model. I find the seating and accessories provided, is important. The seating is also different.

I'm riding a GT. I like its sporty feel and look and yet comfortable on rhe cruise.

The GTL is more luxurious and pillon friendly, lower seat height and definitely a great tourer.

I sat on a GTL and a GT. The ride seems to be lower for a GTL. But concern that the weight of the bike when stopping or long journey falls on your two feet. A GTL comes with all the complete standard acc.

The clunking is forever there. Hehehe... mine is the 2012 version, it has it. A friend of mine rides the 2015 version also has it... I guess it is part of the character of the bike..

I found a way to shift from 2nd gear to 6th gear without the clunking sound. 1st gear cannot avoid. But difficult to explain. Im riding a 2013 GTL.

    Hello!

I am selecting my first class 2 bike.
By my frame size (6ft3'') and riding preferences it will be most likely a large tourer.
The main usage will be commuting (50km every day on ECP/AYE), weekend spins around town, regular food shopping. Weekend trips to the north will be a bliss of course.

Not sure if I should consider going for the most heavy K1600 or limit myself to lighter R1200RT...
I realize asking probably silly questions on K1600 aficionados forum but anyway - lets take an objective view.
    Thus some questions:

Did anyone had a chance to ride R1200RT and compare it with K16? Please share your likes and dislikes.

What are your views regarding using large heavy tourer as DAILY HIGHWAY COMMUTTER and CITY WEEKEND BIKE (not long-distance holiday cruiser)?

K1600 spec is obviously luxury and better... But how really better is K16 vs RT?

I can see that many parking lots in central shopping malls have narrow small lots, so these are not suitable for a large bike at all (I have problems parking my 400cc cruiser now).
Is it a major headache when you go to central town and cannot park in many places?

Any other difficulties with a large touring bike in SG city conditions?

Would you think of stepping down to 1200RT (which smaller and lighter yet powerful so possibly much practical in daily usage)?

Any views would be most welcome to hear regarding your K16 choice and views on 1200RT.
    Thanks lot.

Hi bro, Im been riding a K1600GTL for 9 mths. Great bike as its nimble to handle. I rode before a R1200RT 2015. I would prefer K1600 as the engine are smooth which handles city ride in Singapore well. A RT is a boxer engine and u need higher RPM to change every gear. But on a K1600 i can be at 6th gears at 60km/h and there are no knocking from the engine. I ride to office most of the time as I like the feel of getting onto this bike. Jam at PIE and BKE during peak hrs are normal and this bike i can lane spilt during jams on highway. I would say yes the bike width are bigger ( Mine with pannier bars ) but still manageable on highway jams.

Take note on the cost. As a K1600GTL equipped with all accessories like top box. When you get a RT with add on top box and some accessories, you might hit the price of a K1600GTL.

Hi bro, many thanks indeed, most useful and valuable advise as you had exact experiences which I was asking for.
Well, I will consider K1600 more favorable than! Choice of choices :-)

Go for it. I have few bikes now and this K1600GTL is my most trusted ones for long distance touring. Take note on the safety aspect too as BMW did their homework on this K. Saved me 2x due to unfavourable situation on wet roads. During raining days, no need to think which bike to ride as I just trust my K1600 on wet roads condition.

    https://carousell.com/grabongrip

    * 100 pairs sold in a month !! Customers who bought it, recommended to their friends coz this product WERKZ !!!

A MUST HAVE for your daily ride !!
    -----------------------------------

    - Grab On Grip covers reduce vibration and give you a softer feel, reducing hand and wrist fatigue, so you won't have that tingly feeling in your hands after a long ride.

    - There are riders riding sportbikes with low handle bars, complain of sore palms from leaning on the grips for so long. With Grab On Grip covers, these problems will be a thing of the past !!!

    - Grab On Grip covers allow you to ride in more comfort, especially on those long rides. PERFECT for the daily commuter, tour rider, and sport riders alike.

    Features
    ---------

    - Slip over existing grips for greater comfort, or to renew worn grips.
    - Work with heated or standard grips.
    - Save $$$, no need change the whole heater grip system which is very costly.
    - Shock absorbing EPDM foam for a smoother ride.
    - Provide comfort to wrist and palm. (Great for touring !!)
    - Glove friendly.
    - Extra durable, ozone, UV, gas and oil resistant
    - Grip Covers MC402/width 1.25-1.45"/5"Length.

** Fits class 2, 2A, 2B bikes as long as its a standard grip, it can fit .

** There's customers that bought and fit it on their bicycles too !!!

Great for city riding where there's lots of traffic light, your hand will be tired during the on going "stop go" situation, this product will help to ease the stress on palm n wrist. Highly recommended for despatch/delivery riders.

"Once you try it, you'll LOVE it"

NOTE : Lot of customers been asking what's the difference between Grab On Grip with another brand that's selling @ $30-$35.

    Ans :
    - 1st of all, Grab on Grip is Made in USA while the other grip is Made in UK. So the difference in currencies. USD vs Pound Sterling
    - Difference in QUALITY. No doubt both are EPDM Foam but customers that have used Grab On Grip and have tried the "other brand", eventually came back to use Grab On Grip. Customers claimed that the "other brand" became smelly after using it for awhile and it tends to slip to the balancer causing the throttle to "stuck" which is VERY DANGEROUS. They have never face this problem when using Grab On Grip. Well, expensive things doesn't mean its good.

    - Some customers asked how come mine is "cheaper" than the rest ?

Ans : There's no need for me to claim i'm the "dealer/distributor" when the product i sell is 100% Genuine Made in USA.. As a biker, I wanted to share my great experience of using this product for more than 5 years at an affordable price.

Greetings, I am now a owner of a2016 K1600gt Sports. It's an awesome ride and I have many more smiles per hour on this ride than others. There's some improvements I hope to fine tune e.g.

    Priority 1
The windscreen which is too low, gives me a headache after 15 mins of 100km/hr... I need a much taller one.

    Priority 2
The seat: I hope to lower it, was thinking of getting another seat. Forget the heater

    Priority 3
    A nice wrap,

Lastly , nice get some kakis for a short ride.

    Any recommendations ? ^^

Welcome to the K. Yes its a great bike as I starting to miss my K since changed to a GSA 3 weeks ago. For the GT, you have a smaller windscreen. Change to a GTL screen. bigger and higher. As for the seat, GT are higher. Go for a trim or look for a GTL seats. its helps.
