Default Front and Back Camera on Motorcycles

    Hi guys,

I would like to know if anyone knows where to install front and back camera on motorbikes? And roughly how much will it cost?

Let me know please as I getting more paranoid when i watch "Singapore Reckless Drivers" clips in facebook.

    Thanks!

My only worries for bike camera if non-removable might be easily stolen.so far many rider I saw uses portable cameras that either installed on helmet or front of the bike.
As for those that install on the front of the bike, the common problem is that the front visor cause the recording at night to be very dark. Almost difficult to see the car number.
Good to share what other experience they have and we all can benefit from it. Cheers

mounting on the helmet makes you looks like some weirdo shity with poop sticking out of ur head.. lol no offense!

i have been looking for a front and back relevant mounted cam for bikes for a year or so. found nothing and its still not in the market. there are like 100 variety of car cameras and only about 1 or 2 model of helmet cam for bikes.. (GoPro and a few spy camera on ebay)

hope someone can design it finally soon.

Then again design a camera suitable for bikes mounting is 100x more difficult than cars as there are alot more factors to consider. e.g theft, shock proof, water proof...
in the mean time, TS can just buy a 20-40bucks tiny spy camera on ebay and hide it in your helmet.

    I got mine from Raj: 8161 1427.
Really helpful lad. Can get it fixed at southern motors for a pretty reasonable price.

Mounted on bikes can be locked. No way to lock those on helmets, you have to carry them everywhere if you don't have a box.
    Mount - 1
    Helmet - 0

Mount on helmet = less vibration from engine = clearer video. Mount on bike = crazy vibration (unless you use padding).
    Mount - 1
    Helmet - 1

Depends on each person if you ask me.

I using helmet camera for daily riding. And camera mount on bike for long distance riding as it can be charged for continuous recording. For camera mount on bike poor video recording due to vibration more than 100km/h.

I believe the right person will know how to do it. Question is, who is the right person? Try working with those in SLS/SLT and your bikeshop. Or the guys from BlackVue.

1 Pinhole HD Camera in the front and back. Connected to an SD card reader under the seat. Powered by the bike's battery. Switch on the handlebar. I think it would be more feasible with a sports bike so you can hide the wiring in the fairing.

Theres one guy selling on facebook, can't remember his name. Front and back camera. For $120, maybe another $20ish for installation.
I ordered from him and DIY. Hid it under my front fairing and below my box behind.

You can find him on Facebook under Primero Racing (https://www.facebook.com/Primero) or Raj Kumar. Very friendly and chatty guy who is a motorbiking enthusiast. He responds quickly to SMS too.

$120 excludes installation, which can be done at Southern Motors (his partner workshop) for $30, or just your regular workshop. Raj will also give you detailed instructions on installing it yourself but I haven't installed it yet.

Note: When recording both front and rear, both feeds will be combined into a single 720 video. So each feed (front and back) is only HALF the video resolution and size. You can see a sample here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMPU2ExX9-w.

So if you are using it to record accidents, it's probably good enough(eg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7fVGqqD2lc). But if you are using it to record your tours and rides and details are important, then you might require a higher resolution dvr (he also sells a full HD dual DVR for $350).

Never encountered such with any of the cams I had and am using. Not even some cheap looking car dvr retrofitted to my bike. Except the SJ1000 when using the waterproof case. Reason being the fitting of the cam in the case is not really snug.

Only possible reason that that somebody's cam is vibrating is the bike is vibrating wildly at 100km/h hence in turn vibrates whatever that is on that somebody's bike. Or it was just not installed securely.

    Considering for C3(DV7229) 120$ , Have you already install @duo ?
Please share a few infos, how about raining. I don't mind capturing quality since even our naked eye can not see clearly,
but does it able to go through rain ( cabeling, host ) with no fry circuits and water proof of camera lens ?
Where you guys put the host (under the seat?) evertime need to manually record?

Just make sure the water droplets does not stay on the lens. Any cam no matter of whatever brand will give a disfigured imaged when there are water droplets on the lens. The water droplets will act like magnifying glass. But usually it will be blown off by the wind as you ride.

No issue about frying the circuits. Have left bike in lot for a few heavy downpours and its still working. Just gotta wipe the lens. When you turn the ignition key to on it will start recording and when you turn it to off it will switch off after a few seconds. This can be set to your choice in the menu.

but does it able to go through rain ( cabeling, host ) with no fry circuits and water proof of camera lens ?
Where you guys put the host (under the seat?) evertime need to manually record?
Buy it.. its good for a safety camera.. you have to waterproof the main unit.. the rest is highly water resistant(proof to an extent)
You tap to ignition at fuse box. the other to ground.

Hi. Any idea anyone tried before adding extra secure to the action camera if were to mount onto the helmet? I'm wondering will the 3M tape be sufficient enough to prevent the camera from flying off when riding at high speed?
