    Never tried Carbone Lorraines?
Very good. Affordable. Can get at Excel cycles or Extreme. They're cheaper than Motorworld.
Extreme? u sure better not... the last time i went there to ask for the price of the C.Lorriane rear pad for my bike, the bloody man tried to con me sayin pad cost $35 as per stated on the pad but additional $15 muz pay for installation so dat adds up to $50 & he still got the cheek to tell me all his pads oso muz add $15 for installation!!!!!!
WTF so i went down the road to MSC to change juz cost me $35 as it shd be
so the $35 must include the installation fee? anything more than $35 don't buy right?

Brembo does make brake pads..... but they have a limited selection.... only for certain bikes (ie calipers)..... about $80 for one side (front)....

I have used Carbon lorrine before but can't remember much about it. Currently using EBC HH.....cost about $75 for one side, so the front brakes cost $150 (there abouts) in total. Am using stock brake pads for the rear.....

Brake dust is part and parcel of brake pads.... can't help it..... when you go down to your mechanic, use their air gun and clear your brakes..... that way, you can ensure clean brakes....

Braking performance can be further increased by changing the whole braking system.... Brembo braking systems cost start from about S$2,500. This would normally include rotors, master pump and calipers.... But try changing the rotors and you will notice a difference. The reason being that most of our stock rotors are either non floating or semi floating..... floating rotors disipatate heat better and pushes the brake pads away from the rotors..... thereby reducing wear on the rotors as well as the pads.

So far, my EBCs are pretty decent... sure a little pricy but cheaper than repairing the bike after an accident.

those who want good brakes can get AP brake calipers. Actually they are more for track usage.

i have tried Carbon Lor before... they making a hissing sound.... like sandpaper sanding down wood kinda of sound....

they last about 7000km on my bike where braking is 90% done with the front brakes..

they are consistent.. both wet and dry... Impt. thing is to bleed your lines when changing pads... it helps with the modulation of the brakes..(IMHO)

not sure how much they bite into my rotors as I didnt measure...

I'm using SBS too. So so only. My bike sound like a double decker stopping at bus stop like that...so noisy..haha@!

EBC i heard not bad....I wanna try Carbon Loraine for the next.
Mine too! Even when not braking also got that "scratching" sound. When you have changed to Carbon Lorraine can please update us?

I'm using Isumi brakes. Bought from the shop at alexander village, the one that is facing the main road. Paid $28. Anyone knows if this is too much? I was in a hurry to change as the original TA200 brake pad was giving a lot of squeaking noises.

i guess you better check your brake dics...it might be damaged already(not by the pads you bought) coz my frens GSX oso have got the sound..at 1st din noe where the tick tick tick sound came from..and found that it actually came from the disc it self as it is already damaged and is dangerous to prolong the usage of it..go check carefully...

    Hi Ae86

Did you try rotating your wheel ? I also heard some similar sound from my front wheel. When I rotated the wheel slowly, it is apparent that at some point some part of the brake disk is rubbing against the brake pad. This may be due to the brake disk not flat (??)

Can anyone comment whether it is safe to continue using the brake disk? How much to change? I am riding Phantom 200.

    Thanks for your comments.

Riding Phantom150. Need to change brake pad. The current one suck during wet condition. Don't feel safe using it during wet.

Anyone know of other alternative except for using SBS. Do notice that a lot of bike shops don't have it.(only LAB have?)

I only need a acceptable brake pad like they described for SBS. Suitable for both wet and dry condition. Anyway, please include the price for 2 sets(front and rear) if possible.

    Thanks for any help.......

A word of caution to everyone .... AVOID Carbon Lorraine pads. It is PROVEN that it EATS rotors. A few of my frens rotors have been EATEN by Carbon Lorraine pads. One of them even suffered a broken Carbon Lorraine pad in the caliper. Wonder how it happened. EBC is good. Pay slightly more to save ur live. EBC HH the best .. Sintered pad.

    Aiya....SBS quite cheap liaos...
It is both good on dry and wet weather. The other alternative for Phantom is Honda original pads, but not so good on wet weather leh...but at least better than original phantom ones.

I tend to agree with that. But OK lah in the dry... I still managed to outbrake an awful lot of people in the turns at the Shah Alam circuit with Daytona pads.

Somehow, they took a damn long time to bed in from new though (they make a lot of annoying squeaky noises until they do).
May I know how long do u need to bed in? I suppose ur bed in means "run-in" for the brake pads.

    Thanks for your comments.

mayb wen u fixing the new pads u have mix up both screw for the calliper...... hapen to me b4 n i realise 1 screw is longer abit than the other....so make sure u put both screw at the right hole.....hopefully tatz the problem u r having......

the tick tick sound i guess from the brake disc rivet hitting the xtra end of the long screw(wrong screw at the wrong hole) tatz watz happen to me

u can try vesrah or ferrodo pads from eversuccess.
    vesrah's all green packaging.
for my gn250, ferrodo got 2types. one's organic. the other's semisintered.
    the 1st one abt $18 i tink. the other one's $24.

most of brake pads comes in 3flavours. organic, semi-sintered, fully-sintered.

unless u ride a fast bike, get HH pads or fully sintered.
y HH? becos they can withstand higher operating temp. GOOD?
but BAD thing. need a longer time (higher temp) to be effective.
so y run with racing pads in normal street riding wen an organic pad's provides more braking power compared to expensive ones.

normal transport bikes wun go wrong with cheaper organic pads.

at most. get semisintered for front ones n organic pads for rear.

brake pads choice depends greatly on how u use the brakes, or bikes

    hope tis helps...
