hiya guys, im thinking of getting a gpr70 or bt090 for my gixxer4. but im thinking of the size, although for gixxer4, stock rear tyre size is 160, i thinking of changing the rear to a 150 rear instead, since i cant finish my tyres, and my bike steers like a buffulo so hope it'll quicken up the steering as well.

any opinions about this? or it'll be better to stick to the stock size?

whats the most recent quotes u got for the above tyres? btw, would 150size be cheaper then 160? or same price?

    like to ask :

    - what is this mean? ex: 110/70 17, what is this number mean?
    110/70-17

110 = Tyre width in mm. A 110mm wide tyre is also called a 110-section tyre.

70 = The profile, or height of the sidewall in relation to the width (height of the sidewall divided by the width multiplied by 100). A 70 profile tyre is also called a 70-series tyre.

17 = The radius of the rim in inches. Also called rim size.

I will pefer to use "heat cycle" to rate if the tire still usable.
A Set of tires can have very healthy profile but reaching the end of the heat cycle and deem unusable.

Since u dun feel the rear gripping, maybe its tome for u to get a fesh set of tires.
    agree wat u said

Gixxer use 4.5" wide rear rim, same as CBR400, and they happens to shod 150 60/17 as stock trim, and i should add that they turns much better as compared to 160 60/17
the latter makes the bike feels lardy.
give it a shot with the 150 60/17, u like it.
    hmm... thanks

The front of my BT010 is almost worn out, but the rear still quite ok.
This is common a BT010 problem?
Cos seems like the rear one shld go first.
    ehhh same as mine.......front change 2cycle...rear 1cyle.

my friend if u lookin for tyres dat gives good mileage dont expect it to give u good grip... and vice versa

all the tyres manufacturers are tryin to find tis golden formula, to able to come out a tyre dat can give u outright grip from cold, and give us wonderful feedback frm traction and road surfaces, and yet u can do some serious mileage on it...

pls let us know if u manage to find such a formula...

so for know.. all of us can only compromise... btwn how big is yr pocket hole is, grip and milage...

GPR70 is really a good tyre for a 400cc bike if u lookin for some grips and serious fun wif yr tyres... but seem like yr pocket hole is small, den i suggest u go take Bridgestone.. its a decent pair of tyres dat offer 'resonable' good grip and a very good decent mileage, a rather good compromise.. i would say..

    Grip Vs Mileage

    Mileage Vs Grip

If Mileage is your major concern, u lose some grip

If grip is your most concern, mileage is secondary

for GPR70SP, if mileage is your concern, my advise, dun buy it
i agree tat . safety is more important everybody only live once !!

hiya dude, D208ZR are out of the list in terms of grip (for my standard).

if u like grip, try Pilot Sports, Diablo Corsa and BT012SS etc
Is it the best for TZM to replace using battalax tires? For best grip that suit s'pore weather.

Any recommendations for front and rear.

Bridgestone Battalax BT39 (SS or no SS) lose to Dunlops TT 900 GP (Made in Japan). But use matching front and rear tyres from the TT900 family for your TZM.

UPDATE: I changed it at LAB for $88. But cheap = must wait...
Yeap, too expensive. another 40 bucks more u can get a pair of rubbers.
IMO, if u don't want to wait @ LAB, go early in the morning.. best during weekdays.

Bridgestone Battalax BT39 (SS or no SS) lose to Dunlops TT 900 GP (Made in Japan). But use matching front and rear tyres from the TT900 family for your TZM.
Care to explain why u feel that BT039 loses to Dunlop?

Yup. I actually reached the workshop, went to buy takeaway chicken rice at the nearby canteen, finished the rice, then the tyre was changed. So slow! But the queue was pretty long, I was quite lucky liao.

Anyway went to South Buona Vista road today and did a few rounds to run in my tyre. Road was dry and there was no sand or debris. The wax on my new tyre should be mostly gone by now. Can see the difference in texture between the used and unused (the very edge part - I never go down so low lah).

One thing I noticed, my bike now has worse reponse in top gear. It is quite difficult to pull from 5.5k up to 7k rpm even when I'm riding alone. Shifting down seems to be the only way to go around this, especially with pillion.

Anyone has 110/80-17 BT-039SS fitted on their rear tyres KRR/SP/TZM?
Went motorshop, boss told me BT-039SS doesn't have a 110/80-17 profile.
Asked me take the 110/70-17 profile. Orginal size for my bike(KRR150) is 110/80-17.
Anyone can advise me on the difference if i used a 110/70-17 instead of 110/70-17?

If don't have 110/80, take 120/80 which is OEM size for SP. Don't ever take 110/70 because 90% they will give you a "front use only" tyre. And tyres are not labelled "front" and "rear" for fun.
