    Hi 2_wheeler...thanx for the info i knw about the pointer that u had highlight which was dated 2004...however i got this respond frm LTA last year 2009...

    Our Ref: LTA/VTL/VS/VE/F20.000.000/770
    Date : 10 SEP 2009

    Tel : 1800 2255 582

    Fax : 6553 5329

    Dear Mr Hamir,

    Enquiry on motorcycle registration license plate
    FEEDBACK NUMBER: 20090830-0079

    We refer to your email dated 30-Aug-2009.

    We wish to inform you that the technical requirements for motorcycle licence plates used in Singapore can be found in Rule 15 and Fourth Schedule of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules.

    In summary, these rules specify that licence plates should comply with either of the following descriptions (colour code):

    a) Letters and figures are white, silver or light grey on a non-reflective black background for both front and rear; or
    b) Letter and figures are black on a white reflex-reflecting background for the front, and on a yellow reflex-reflecting background for the rear.

    The front licence plates for motorcycle must also meet the following dimension specifications:

    a) The letters and figures are 35 mm high, 25 mm wide and 5 mm broad;
    b) The space between adjoining letters and between adjoining figures shall be 5 mm;
    c) The space between the letters and figures shall be 10 mm;
    d) A margin between the nearest part of any letter or figure and the top
    or bottom of the number plate shall be 5 mm;
    e) A margin between the nearest part of any letter or figure and the sides of the licence plate shall be 10 mm.

    The rear licence plates for motorcycle must also meet the following dimension specifications:

    a) The letters and figures are 50 mm high, 30 mm wide and 5 mm broad;
    b) The space between adjoining letters and between adjoining figures shall be 10 mm;
    c) The space between the letters and figures shall be 20 mm;
    d) A margin between the nearest part of any letter or figure and the top, bottom and sides of the licence plate shall be 10 mm.
    e) For licence plate that consists of 2 rows of figures and letters, the space the 2 rows shall be 10 mm.

    No other figures or letters, design advertisement or ornamentation shall be placed near the licence plate in such a manner as to render it more difficult to read or distinguish the registration number of the motorcycle when in motion.

    With regards to your enquiry on sticker number plate, we wish to inform you that generally we do not allow owners to affix number plates that are of the sticker-type on their vehicles. We would however consider, on a case-by-case basis, the use of such sticker-type number plates on vehicles that do not have an adequate space/location for affixing conventional licence plates (i.e. those made of aluminium or acrylic material).

    In order for us to look into your case, we would appreciate it if you could provide us with your vehicle registration number and the pictures showing the location of the front number plate. You can forward the information to the Vehicle Engineering Division of the LTA at 10 Sin Ming Drive, Singapore 575701.

    We hope the above clarifies, should you have further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us at 1800 2255 582.

    Yours sincerely
