to confirm:
1) Dad (new owner and main rider) do not need to present when buying Insurance and when doing transfer at LTA <-- both existing and new owner required to sign on the ownership transfer form...so u need to have their signatures on the form even thou they can be absent
2) Dad need to signs the form for Insurance <-- this one i not sure

To bring
1) at NTUC Income : photocopy log card, dad&#39;s IC, my IC, and &#036;&#036; <-- right

u will need original copy of yr bro&#39;s NRIC to do the ownership transfer part
as for signature wise...if u can sign for him...it would be sufficient

Yes, signing on the form is to declare that you agree to all term and conditions of the insurance company.

forging of singature is a very serious offence&#33;

As innocent as it may be or trying to make things easier, you may get yourself into a very big problem. Pls remember that it&#39;s not worth the risks.

how come the transfer of ownership is sent to you in the first place ? where you buy the bike?

the steps are correct provided u have paid for the bike in full amount already
if still under installment u need to go through the motordiam

Therefore from what i know that A must go n apply for his insurance then go LTA for transfering of ownership and thats all bout it. Am I rite? Im subrider n my dad is the owner.

How long will it take to get all this done so that the bike is officially A&#39;s?

My road tax dies 28feb, so what should u advice on inspection, i do it for A, or A do himself?

since u still owe the motordiam installment
the logcard will be with the motordiam also
u need to go thru the motordiam to do the transfer etc
canot do on yr own

if u wan to do on yr own
u can consider clearing yr remaining installments and retreieve the logcardfrm motordiam then do the transfer of ownership etc with the buyer yrself

ownership of bike will be transferred after the documents have been processed by LTA...if u pass to motordiam do...maybe hafta wait ard 1-2days...if settle yrself...on the spot at the LTA ownership will be transferred

however at this point..u may wan to take note that letting the motordiam settle all the stuff would mean the buyer will need to fork out more money for the paperwork + motordiam handling fees

as for the road tax...u hafta discuss with the buyer already...it&#39;s either u renew before u pass to him or he renew himself...it&#39;s all abt deciding who pays

transfer of ownership cost depends on the market value of the bike...but generally for 2B bike it will be below &#036;50
yr dad need not be present....juz require his NRIC only...
this applies when u go LTA do transfer of ownership yrself or if u were to let motordiam do...

IMO...it is not advisable to let an unknown person to be subrider while u be main rider

when the bike kena big case that requires paying of fines or demerit points...the letter will be sent to the main rider instead of the sub rider requesting for particulars of the offender...
if the subrider wan to play u out and refuse to give u his particulars...no guessing to who&#39;s gonna be at the losing end

somemore if u r unlucky enough...what if the fella decide to default on installment payment...the motordiam also will look for u...or worse...the fella throw the bike back to u say he dont wan already...then u r gonna be in some real deep shi.t

some may suggest that u get everything written down in black and white regarding who&#39;s gonna be responsible etc during what events...but personally i feel that it&#39;s quite useless...
even if u wan to sue the fella if he back out of the agreement also it&#39;s not worth it for u...
spend thousands on lawyer fees w/o being sure whether u can get back the full sum of money or not

2. also understand that need the road tax for the bike. means i have to unscrew the road tax and bring it to the office?

3. btw, transfer only can be done at sin ming LTA office rite? usu how long it takes eh? does it still open on saturday morning? if yes, avg waiting time is how long?

4. also for insurance, if im buying another from the same company while refunding the old one, is it true that i usu can get 100% refund of the unused portion of the old insurance which will be used to offset the cost of buying new one?

replacement i believe can be obtained from LTA office bah
but need to pay replacement fee
u r not required to bring along logcard with u when u r riding
u need at most yr licence, NRIC, insurance cert (can be photocopied copy dont need original)

if not...do it but dont get caught
to play safe...maybe u ride the bike in more deserted areas like top floor of multistorey carpark?

for ntuc, from what i read is if you get a replacement policy from them... you will have 100% refund of unused days.....

simply approach the relevant motordiam
since the logcard is kept by the motordiam
only they can do the ownership transfer etc for u

2) I collect the full amount, but seller is suspicious that the transfer is not done.

So what would be a good solution?

the good solution would be that u not let the shop do the transfer for u. since ur buyer have the insurance already, ask him to pay off your remaining loan at the bike shop to retrieve the log card and then go straight to LTA to do transfer. who pillon who to LTA is no issue cos both have valid insurance coverage. once there, do the transfer, once buyer gets new log card, pays off the rest of the &#036; to the seller, and seller says goodbye to the bike for the last time.

if buyer goes ahead and ride while the transfer is in progress, and meets with an accident, there is no legal issue as both have valid insurance. however, it becomes a bitter dispute case on who is liable to pay, whose insurance to claim from, and who shd pay for the repairs.

if u die die have to let the motordiam do your transfer, best option is to leave the bike at the motordiam. no ride = no chance of accident

i have been riding for the past 6 months...no accidents whatsoever...

but the bike im going to buy may not use the same insurance company. does that mean i will not get to enjoy any NCB the next time i renew my insurance? meaning the insurance company views me as zero riding experience?

first you need to earn above 2k payslip, second you need to make sure what you loan is according to the market value ie. a wave with a single digit number, you try loaning for 7k on a wave? impossible...If its a wave normal, you need to 2k loan i think it will be possible, something like this, cause they will assess your bike and your current pay and the the percentage of loan is calculated based on that.

im planning to go singapore to buy a bike this weekend. im buying it cash. but im malaysian. I hav class 500cc above liscence. My good friend is singaporean n he is willing to let me use his address. Any other thing i need to standby? Pls enlighten me with tis case.

Question1. i know i can buy the bike with my name but can I be d authorized rider tat being covered by insurance?

Question2. If i cant buy the bike with my name can i buy with my friend&#39;s name n i be the authorized rider n inssured by insurance.Preferable i can own it with my name n ride it as well.

just a question.. if i wanna add a sub rider.. say a few months after i bought the bike.. where do i go.. the motor diam or the insurance company?? if i want to go straight tot he insurance company.. can?? any charges will be imposed??
