super 4 i wld consider it heavy mainteince comparing to other bikes..abt xjr i not too sure abt its specs.

S4 u change engine oil we know it, its 4 bottles(4 litres) if i m not mistaken. some bigger CC engines use lesser engine oil. XJR i not too sure how much engine oil it uses.

Just a personal opionion i find S4 engine not as smooth as some other bigger CC bike from yamaha n suzuki. As i have test n heard the sound of some S4(2nd hand) ones at some shops, it might be the way the previous onwers rode or mainteined it. So far i haven't seen a XJR to compare with.

i believe vtech model are slightly lighter then XJR however both bikes have dual suspension design unlike suzuki's bandit(so handling wise both honda n yamaha are not my taste at all). However its a old model(bandit) now n no more newer editions, chances are u will endup paying a lot for replacement for seasoned parts.

however lots of ppl claim tht S4 has low consumption comparing to other big bikes. I believe the S4 is a reliable bike n has resale value where as XJR doesn't really have a market like S4.

Another consideration if u are like still in yar early 20s n insurance is EX for u, too bad NTUC don't offer policies for S4 anymore. Where else u can get a XJR under yar dad or uncle's name under NTUC n pay lesser for insurance.

Lastly everyone has their personal opionion, so jus gather info from others abt these 2 models n consider for yarself which is a better buy for u.

Personally I would have chose the XJR400 because its not so common like the Super4. Being unique, spares will be hard to find or expensive to replace. But what really makes me chose the XJR is the OEM bike is equipped with brembo brakes and Ohlins shocks, which gave better braking and handling compare to Honda.

Just my experience, I once met a technician who claimed that he has been waiting for an XJR400 component to arrive to Singapore for 2 months already, think it's something from the top front. From what I see, not many shops have "links" to XJR specific component, so probably will have to seek Hong Leong or Automachinery (heard of but never been before) when facing this type of situation.

About the Ohlins shock, I remembered someone already said that Yamaha have bought over Ohlins, so those shocks should be Ohlins low end stuffs. Nevertheless, it's still Ohlins, so should have some guarantee.

A particular batch of Super 4s also come with Brembo calipers for the front.
Oh did u know that the Ohlins on the XJR is not any much diff from the Showa on the Super4 ?

That Ohlins has got to be the cheapest Ohlins ever made i guess.
    Cheers !

CB4 is a very good road bike, and although weight about same as XJR, I find the CB4 smaller and the XJR a bit taller. So depends on whether u like 'bigger' bike or not. On the road, no prob with my CB4 at all... nissin brakes a bit lacking, but if don't speed should be ok. Find the showa suspension all right, but then I not a track person. Appearance, I like the Yam, but for spare parts etc etc I bought the CB4 just to play safe. Anyway, now I'm trying out a Yamaha after my CB4, so will have to see if spare parts are really a prob. Good luck, I think both are good bikes. Just buy the one u like.

This is how you don't hv to wait for spare parts for CB400 in Singapore. See enclosed picture.

the number of CB400 in singapore is so huge that it reminds me of Nissan Sunny 3 years ago and LC Kia during the late 80s. Throw a stone and you will hit one.

'lol' because u spammed this pic on so many topics. it shows how pathetic you are. i do believe in retribution and i do believe in karma and all the laws of whatnot. i also believe that people will only keep posting pics of lost items that belong to them. nobody is stupid and redundant enough to do so for others. i suggested a bike cover in goodwill only to get your implication that i lack eq. you made me laugh. are you a clown?

Guess which word had this meaning.

    1. Any code or set of principles containing different provisions for one group of people than for another, esp. an unwritten code of sexual behavior permitting men more freedom than women.

    2. A set of principles permitting greater opportunity or liberty to one than to another, especially the granting of greater sexual freedom to men than to women.

    3. A set of principles establishing different provisions for one group than another; also, specifically, allowing men more sexual freedom than women.

dear alex i am a first timer in this forum and dont know if my advice is helpful to u
hopefully u have decided to buy the s4 cos its maintenance is quite low if u really take care of the bike. The main problem with the s4 is the rectifier but now the new models comes with rectifiers that has fins to cool it down much faster from overheating. For the xjr it is the spare parts availability that is in question and also the balancing when it goes into a steep corner for the bike is much more bulky than the s4. I rode a s4 version s for 4 years and had lesser problem than my fren who rode the xjr. Some of my frens are nw riding the vtech version and find it to be not much of a problem. The reason for this is that honda engines are much more compact and last longer under extreme conditions. Hopefully my advise here helps but it is entirely up to u to make the decision.

the number of CB400 in singapore is so huge that it reminds me of Nissan Sunny 3 years ago and LC Kia during the late 80s. Throw a stone and you will hit one.
When did u take this pic?

My friend's meter spoiled after he buang. He went to bike shop and they took it out for him. He still finding 2nd hand replacement so he riding without one now...

    FJR fuel injected? hmmmm *puzzled*

Anyway i would prefer Super 4 Vtec / Spec II / Spec III over FJR if u like smoother powerband performance at mid range balanced with excellent fuel economy on cruising... heres how the VTEC is activated.

VTEC = above 7200rpm (all gears)
Spec II = above 6350rpm (all gears)
    Spec III = above 6350rpm (1st - 5th gear), 6750 (6th gear)

S4 may be less torque compare to FJR on low to mid range but once u dail the rpm pass 5.5k, it's where the fun comes in, engage VTEC up till 10000rpm (max bhp) u will be holding on for dear life hehe... (my advice to 1st timer on S4, take her slow n easy for a few mths )

For fuel management (FULLY STOCK BIKE PLS) wise, she can goes up till 420km including reserve.

XJR & S4...XJR parts can be hard to find but this bike is made specifically for people who knows how to perform..EVEN THE WORLD CHOOSES XJR OVER S4 @ bikez.com...coz XJR is in fact DIY friendly..Further more Vtec only gives a small surge in power @ sertain rpm but The xjr shall NEVER b left behind...as for cornerings it totally depend on tyres and rider minimal on shocs unless otherwise imbalanced..

IF u are so much of a soficticated and a need for speed 400 cc rider XJR is the #1 for u........

Well said guys....After riding the XJR for 3 yers i must say that though the parts gives me headaches/heartaches, i have no regrets so ever for buying the XJR400R. It have its flaws with a rough engine sounds but with no overheating probs or coolant as the bike is air/oil cooled using EO as its cooling mechanism, i have no complaints at all. ON top of that, i feel special all the time as I dont see that many XJRers at every other corners that i make. Sweet ride, sexy tails & big tanks that filled up to 20 litres of ptrol & a raudy engine sounds to boot....I loved my XJR400R...& nothing u say wud change that. Too bad the market for Yammie bikes here is poor...

Super 4 will win in terms of
engine oil used and most importantly of all,
most common 400ccbike on singapore roads!

No offence Superfour riders, but it's too damn "taxi" la the bike.
I ride KRR also damn sian.
So many on the roads. Haha.

At the end of the day, it's a personal choice.
