yes, no one believe it only produce 51bhp, mainly the "speed limitter" cut off the ignition at 185km/h.

Even in stock, the bike can easily reach 185km/h in 4th gear.

But the real power only show after many "de-restriction" done.

Thing done :
1) K&N filter
2) Improve the airbox inlet (remove 1 big piece rubber).
3) Disable airbox flapper.
4) Seal PAIR.
5) After market end can
6) Change air inlet manifold to big size
7) Red-Rev de-retrictor.

Each 1 step improve abit the performance....

as for mine it`s stock n evrything....as if it wants to ride by itself...it scares me sumtimes..
You want to try mine ?

The VFR800 ABS model OTR without insurance is 20.5k...
The single-exhaust CB1300 is gorgeous. I'd love to have one, but I just don't understand the pricing for this bike in Singapore. In Australia, for example, the official prices are:

CB1300S (Bol d'Or) $15,390
VFR800 $17,490
CBR1000RR $18,990

Here the CB1300 is more expensive than a VFR and nearly the same price as a Fireblade. Why??

I totally agree with u. It's not fitted with full fairing which are expensive. It is back-to-basic bike without the complexity [vfr's vtec n cbr's superlight weight] of the other 2.

Thanks thelex for the info. By the way, I don't have the manual as I did buy the bike brand new.

For those CB riders, I am looking for anyone riding up for MotoGP. Is there any?

Hi to all CB Brothers!!

Finally, I found a device to override the powercut to my bike. Now, my CB1300 is able to go faster than 200km/h. What exactly the speed I am not too sure as the needle on the speedo meter already passed the last marker which indicated 190km/h. It was estimated that I went to about 230km/h.

I think powercut only occurs on the older model of the CB1300 (the one with two pipes). Now I have no more problem riding at high speed as my bike will no more jerking when I touch the last marker on the speedo.

Now I am happy that my bike has no more restrictor.

Hi Angler,

Are you using the same CB13 as me? I am using 1999 model (with 2 exhausts). If you are, I got the device from Motoworld. It cost me $150. I was lucky as it was in stock when I purchased as usually the device for ou bike is rare and have to be ordered. The device is called 'Red Rev'.

Feel free to call me if you want to take a look how it look like. You can call me at. 9430 6737.

hi ayon42,
i m riding cb750f2 , a younger brother.

talking abt exceeding the powercut.
i did remove a speedo sensor behind the speed display,
n it can go beyond 180 with a 4th gear drag.

anybdy have any idea if there is another limiter for the engine rpm.???

if not, conclusion is that cb750 no power.!!!

ha ha ha.

Hi Honda475,

I am not too sure about CB750. But I sure know that there is a limiter on the rpm for CB13 as tested by my bike. The rpm will stop on the red line if you try drag further but that only happens once when I did the testing. But eversince I fix the power cut override, I manage to go way beyond 190km/h and the speedo just keep on going. But, my rpm never ever touches the red part of the rpm.

Recently, I tried to test my max speed and I manage to go for 250km/h. Though I know I can go faster, but that will be more than enough for me. My speed was gauged by my friend riding FJR1300 who was tailing me. And with that speed even, I have not touch the red part of the rpm.

As for CB750, I am not sure which production is your bike. Cos from what I know/find out, if your bike is Europe shipment, there will be no powercut at all. but if yours is a Japan model, you definitely have to make some modification to the bike just like mine. Mine was originally from Japan.

Cheers,
Ayon42

hi,

just got myself a 98 cb1300 (twin exhaust). very smooth bike.
i'm a bit of a heavyweight and was wondering if there is any handlebar replacement that is slightly higher than the stock. maybe about 2-3cm higher. if there is, where to get it.

also, does anybody know the fuel consumption of the cb1300 (carb). seems to be getting abt 200km for the full tank.

hi, i know somebody is trying to sell his old "handle-bar raisers" ( its the 2 pc alluminium securing the bar, for $30 ,

if you want to know more pls pm me,
u can bargain with him if really interested.

re: handle bar 3 cm higher

hard chances finding that,
i think higher after-market bars are either those alluminuim ones or those much higher chromes.

Hi Kooshkinus!!

I am riding the same bike as yours (but I already looking for buyers). The average fuel consumption for full tank till it starts to go reserve is 260 km to 270 km. But I ever hit to 280 km before it hit reserve. It is a wonderful bike and I find the fuel comsumption is average for a 1300cc with 21 ltr tank.

I even have my bike fix with the derestrictor. With it, now I able to go more than 200km/h!!!

Happy riding and enjoy!!

Ayon42
really? 270km for the full tank? this is my second tank. the first fillup, i only managed to get 200km. now on my second, looks like i'll be getting the same. did you do anything to your bike to get that kind of consumption? tweak the carb maybe? sprocket teeth?

btw, i top up my petrol right after switching to reserve and i filled up about 14.8L. If the tank is 21L, means there's another 6L in the tank right?

If at my present consumption of 13km/L (compared to yours at 17km/L), my total range is 273km (from topup to empty&#33

Appreciate is you can share your secret in getting such good consumption.

Don't mind me asking but how come you're letting go of your bike and how much $$$ are you looking at? I got mine at $5.8K and was wondering if that was a good buy. It has 41000km on the odometer.

Hi again Kooshkinus!!

I manage to clock about 260km-270km excluding the reserve fuel. That means I travel for that distance for 17ltr and therefore I have about 4ltr more in my tank which roughly can go for another 60km.

If you are talking about secrets, I have none. All I did is regular servicing of every 5000km. Every 10,000km, I do full service including servicing and tune the carburator. As for the chain and sprocket, I use the original. Another very important part that needs servicing and monitoring is the air filter. If it is dirty, it will definitely affect your fuel consumption. The best is to use the aftermarket air filter (k & n etc.) as it last lifetime.

As this is my second CB13 (as I used to own a different one), I already compared to my first. I find out it has the same performance and capability as my first CB13 (bought brand new, '98 model).

You definitely had a good deal but what plate is your bike? As for mileage, I am a person who do not definitely go for low mileage. I depend on my own style of riding where mostly my bike have the average mileage of about 20,000km/per yr.

I am letting go my bike with no cash involvement. I just need someone to carry on my instalment. The reason of me selling is not that the bike is something wrong or not good, but I am starting to travel more and further wtih my wife. so I am looking for bike such as ST11 or FJR which have bigger tank to travel further. But I am not at all in a hurry to sell.

I will be very happy to help you out with the bike performance as I find this bike to be one of the best bike I ever use. You may call me (9430 6737) for a cup of coffee to chit chat about our bike performance and capability.

hi ayon42,

i must say that you are one friendly guy

yes, will take you on the coffee offer. i used to ride a 95 ST1100 and love the bike to bits. I had to sell it off because I was getting married (1999) and a car seems like a good thing to have. haven't been riding since then, until late last year. got an ACE1100 then but found that the bike it just not right for me. Intended to go for another ST1100 or even the STX1300 but my financing officer told me it is either the car or a brand new bike. So decide to go for cheaper alternative.

Saw the CB13 advertisement in SGBikes. Owned by a Polish guy. Still have about 2 years of COE to go. Decided to view the bike. Pretty good condition. So got it and I am liking every bit of it.

Since I am away from the bike scene for 7 years, I really don't know where to go for accessories. Looking for a padded tank pad now but don't know where to start looking. My current tank pad is the colourful sticker kind but I prefer a padded one as it looks more elegant and it makes people think that an old man is riding it

I also have accessories on the bike I want removed. But afraid that the screws and other stuff are not original. But i think that is the fun of it

Hi again Kooshkinus!!

You are indeed a rider too!! You seem to have the same preference as me. I used to ride ST11 and used to stop riding for a moment before I start again for a couple of years already.

Did you get the the FQ plate CB? Is your bike red and white in colour and with engine guard with foot rest? If that is the bike you got, I find it BEAUTIFUL!! What are the accessories you are taking out? Maybe we should meet up and maybe I will be interested with your accessories you want to take out.

I actually want to change to ST11 again as like I said, I able to travel further without worrying about the petrol.

Hope to see you real soon!!

Finally my bikes is back with me after 1 long week at my mechanic's place.

Changed the :

.Timing chain
. B-set gaskets and oil seals which practically means every single oil seal and gasket on the lower portion of the bike.

Discovered that my cam-shaft is worn by about 1.3mm and since it cost about $800 (excluding service) to replace them, i decided not to as since our bikes have hydrauclicly controlled valves, my mech says it will compensate by itself. Just have to bear with the constant ticking sound.

Now, no more leaks in the engine! HAHAHAHAHA!!! Yet to check the oil level though. If it's still decreasing, then i know, it must be from the pistons.

And here's a few pictures of my bike. Sorry, too lazy to host it from another page.
hi all,

i recently took ownership of a used CB750. only had it for about 2-3 weeks.

just wanna check some things with fellow owners.

William u mentioned ur bike had to change certain parts etc cos the engine was eating engine oil. did you see a lot of white smoke from ur exhaust when riding? if not, how did you know it was eating engine oil? mine gave out some white smoke on the first couple of days when i revved it high to around 6000-7000rpm. but when ridden normally there's no smoke at all. bike shop claims it's because they put a lot of oil into the exhaust to protect it while they were trying to sell it. dunno true or not. any comments?

also, most of u guys are getting at least 300km per tank before hitting reserve. but i'm only getting about 250-270km for about 14.7litres. That works out to be about 17.5km/l. could there be something wrong with my engine or is it just that i'm spending too much time warming it up before riding? also, i always have to use choke to start a cold engine. even then, i would still have to open the throttle just a wee bit, so my initial revs would go to abt 1500rpm, then the choke kicks in and pushes it to about 3000rpm. is this normal?

another thing, wat's the typical idling rpm for u guys? i can't maintain mine at 1200rpm. engine will tend to stall if it's cold. and i have a sneaky suspicion that the timing is out. i've not been riding for a long long time so i dunno who is good at tuning this engine. any recommendations?

sorry for so many questions but i really like this bike and hope mine is not a lemon.

Hi manutd1972,

Though I am not a mechanic nor motorcycle expert, I just find/think that your bike is not at it's normal CB750 performance/condition.As you just got the bike, I think you still should do a full service to your bike as I think the bike shop you bought from have not done any full service. They usually say they will service the bike, but it is only normal servicing that is changing the oil and oil filter. They usually just make sure that the bike is able to move. Well, that is what most of the time I encounter. But maybe not all motor shops are like that. It's just what I encounter.

All I can suggest to you, if you are not satisfied with your bike, send to your regular or any good recommended mechanic. Get him to do a full service. Engine oil, oil filter, spark plug and especially air filter. Get him tune your carburator as well and also ask him to check whatever wear and tear needs to be changed. Gt him to advise on your bike performance. That's all I do whenever I get a second hand bike.

Well, like I said, I am not a mechanic nor an expert but that is my what I practice when I get a second hand bike. CB570 is well known for having good fuel consumption. If you think your bike is not performing like a normal CB750, then above are the basic things you have to do.

All the best!!

Hey all.... Here's my experience from riding the cb750.

Its a very simple bike. No complications. Just carbs and the engine.
My engine oil was leaking due to worn gaskets. I could actually see oil leaking from the bottom. Thats why i changed the whole bottom set gaskets, oil seals and washers.

Timing part... This bike has hydraulic adjusted valve system. So there's no need for any valve clearance. Valve are automatically compsensated by the pressure of engine oil going through these small "bullets" at the cam area.

manutd >> The reason for your eratic cold start and poor fuel consumption could be due to your carbs. Get it cleaned and tuned by a reputable mechanic. I got mine done by Rosli. Servicing the carbs for this bike is not complicated issue as it has a very basic operation.

I used my cb750 as my daily ride as well as my touring bike. Engine oil consumption still occurs at long duration of high speed travelling during touring. But then again, this happens for my current ride too. Anyways, its always advisable to bring extra engine oil during touring trips. Fuel consumption averages at 18km/l for daily rides and 14km/l at speeds >130km/l.

For the description, it appear like something wrong with the air/fuel system.

As usual, do a full service on the carburators, and do a carb balancing.

At the sametime, check if there is any vacuum leakage in the system, check the rubber manifold for cracks, and the rubber seals.

Most of CB bike should have the idling RPM from 1,000 to 1,200.

hi guys,

thanks to all who answered my questions. you've confirmed my suspicion that my engine's tuning is out. i've just not done anything to it yet cos i didn't know of anyone good, reliable and trustworthy. now that a senior here has mentioned Rosli, i will go to him to get it done. but er....where's Rosli's shop?

and is it ok to delay this till i reach 40000km? i'm now at 38000km and just did an engine oil & oil filter change. any permanent damage done to my engine if i continue riding it for now?

thanks.

Hi Manutd,

I would suggest that the best is you do the full servicing now. It's for your bike own good. So the next servicing you can do for your bike will be 48k km.

oh btw, any of u guys installed a bike alarm on ur bike? i'm wondering if the typical "vibration" of our bike will spoil the alarm sooner or later. not that our bike produces a lot of vibration.

Another member in the cb750 family. Welcome welcome!

During these past few months with my bike, i have experienced a lot of ups and downs. There were quite a few major problems with mine as mine was afterall, from SSDC.

Gaskets and oil seals were all burnt. Starter cluth worn out. Clutch plates gone. My engine has been off the bike twice! But now, everything is a-ok. Been to Phuket and back without any major hickups except for a busted fork oil seal and a dead battery (my bad. did not check when the batt was last changed.).

After countless hours with my mechanic spent at his shop looking at how he serviced my bike, i've learnt a little bit of things here and there about the bike.

Basically a very simple bike with no problems with the rectifier, alternator or battery.

Just change the oil regularly, plugs, air filter @ 20,000++km. Thats all. Do look out for leaks as well. After about 50,000km milage, our engine will start to leak especially at the cam-cover. Do not worry as replacement of the gaskets only take a few hours and will not cost more than $50.

Most important of all, CHECK YOUR ENGINE OIL LEVEL OFTEN!!!

Our bike is prone to leaks and even with the engine oil at a low level, the bike still runs very smoothly, so most of the time, you will not know until its too late. So check your oil level often to ensure sufficient amount of oil inside. When i reached Phuket, i only had about 2L of engine oil inside instead of the 3L! I would not have known if i did not check as the engine was still running so smooth! The leak was due to a screw that came loose along the way there.

How to check?

- start engine on main stand.
- let it idle for about 3-5mins.
- off engine.
- after about another 3 - 5 mins, remove dipstick.
- clean excess oil with clothe.
- put it dipstick, but do not screw in.
- remove dipstick and read engine oil level.
- should be between the upper and lower mark, in the middle.
- if too low, top up engine oil to upper level.
- if at upper level, leave it be.

Y'll can reach me at 90088457.
dipstick? u mean our bike has a dipstick? blind me....i didn't even know about that one.

i was trying to check my engine oil level the other day and couldn't find the viewing glass. i eventually gave up, thought maybe this was some kind of a design thing. so now i know we got dipstick, like a car...hehehe....

sidenote....seems like quite a few of you are believers of the faith, yes?

Hi all!!!

Any CB rides out there interested to join me to ride up to Phuket this November? But I am not going for the 3 nation ride. I am going there on my own.
