  1. Find a decent brand oil that meet the required specs stated in the owner manual, change it regularly and maintain correct oil level. I still have not seen any proof that certain brand of engine oil increases engine life except anecdotes evidence.
  2. Xena disc lock can buy at Chong Aik. For chain, U lock and other, motoworld got quite a selection.

  4. just bring along the tool kit that come with spark is enough for most situation. if you want to DIY. you can get the following tools: size 8 wrench - for changing oil filter size 20 spanner - for oil change and chain adjustment size 17 spanner - for chain adjustment
  5. i checked with wing Yap on the price for the plastic basket with cover and lock. they quoted me $75!!! guess i going JB tomorrow night to check.
  6. don't be bluff by the big number like 80W90 for gear oil. it pretty much the same viscosity as 20W50 Engine oil:) personally, i think EO / GO is ok for small bike. if riding someone bigger, get a proper lubrication will be a better bet.
  7. i got faster with more experience:p actually it just opening a nut, let the oil drain and locking the nut. the part that take up most time is draining and house keeping. to be more realistic, i should say it take 10-15mins:cheeky: a few points i learn: 1) don't have to wait a good 10mins to drain those little droplets of oil. most oil should be out in a min or 2 especially when its warm. it doesn't make much different so save your time. 2) have the correct tools and material at hand. basic is a correct size spanner, fresh EO, rag, any material that act as drain pan, a bottle for used
  8. will changing to a better suspension help the bike ferrying a pillon? i find that except my wifey, the rest of my pillon tend cause the bike to sink too much. thinking of changing in malaysia.

  10. i think you will have a hard case to fight since you are lane-splitting. i think you will need to share the blame for the accident since you are passing him without safety distance. the third car will surely be able to claim from you. it just how much can be done to put some of the cost to the first car. as mentioned, call up your insurance ASAP.
  11. it only show the oil is good in load bearing aplication. i have read before this is due to the extreme pressure additives. such additives is normally found in greases. as for it role in engine oil enviroment it is somehow limited and might not be idea. in modern day, one will be hard-pressed to find a bad engine oil. for most commuters, as long as servicing is done regularly, the chance of problem due to engine oil failure is very low.
  12. it is not possible to "field test" fairly. because it is impossible to design and build 2 bikes where everything else is the same except it engine cycle. if that is possible, you will have the 2T bike having faster pick up but eventually both bikes will end up with the same top speed.
  13. i don't understand what is "without including friction". care to explain? you need to be clear. a 150CC 2stroke bike does not produce twice the power of 4T. it produce the same power at twice the rate due to shorter cycle. therefore adding up to a theoretical twice the amount of power at a given time. you are making it sound like a 150CC 2T bike can produce power equal to a 300CC 4T bike. it doesn't work that way. the rest i agree. as per why, thread starter will have to read up if he is interested:)
  14. a great time? do you mean a hard time? when the problem start, did you do anything to your bike?
  15. the longest i park my bike so far is 1week. expect kick-starting need some extra "kicks", i don't feel much different. i also just changed my engine oil when i left it untouch. the only problem i can think of is condensation. by just riding it for some distance should get rid of the water in the oil. i doubt there will be any problem with the spark plug. it might be due to fouling of the fuel in your carb.
  16. that pretty technical. you can do a search online for 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine which will help you to understand better then someone typing a wall of text. bascially 2T bike produce the same power output as 4T but at double the rate. so 2stroke pick up is faster but top speed should be the same if everything else is equal. 4 stroke generally have better fuel economy and slightly easier to maintain. the main problem with 2stroke bike to me is it produce excessive white smoke unless it is very well maintain. excessive white smoke = fine. if it is 2B bikes, but 4stroke and 2stroke bik
  17. personal feeling about OCI is not scientific but rather based on experience which is hardly accurate. the common ways are what we feel is a safe interval, follow manual recommendation and using UOA. as we don't have easy access to UOA, we can only depend on the earlier 2 methods. where can we do this "visco and density measurement"? sound interesting. not sure how a test of viscosity and density is going to review so much about the oil.
  18. it about the insurance agreement. i suggest you ask for a copy from your insurance. also, you want might to call up other insurance company and act as you are interested in getting insurance from them so you can seek advice whether this is standard practice. anyway, how did you lost your bike? did you lock it? any additional lock?
  19. i agree. for small bike, 3000-5000km should be a safe OCI with quality oil. as for bigger bike, it can go even longer. just check the oil level regularly. the only person who push for short change interval is from motortiam. it clear why are they doing it.

  21. my insurance company called me back to let me know they received my fax of police report and the lawyer letter. they have also received the claim sent to them by the lawyer. i ask for some details of the accident. i suppose to have hit the car from behind. my bike suppose to be a black yamaha(mine is a blue/white). i suppose to have badly injure myself. police report suppose to have been made by me early on. nothing mention above is true to me. i think it a case of wrong or false registration plate. major faint....... hope it settle soon. thanks everyone.
