7k should be fine, no worries.

Regarding the KRAK sound, does it happen only while starting? Is it a single KRAK or continues until the bike starts? If it is continous then its the starter motor.

For those wanna give a 200NS a tought ....

another reviews for consideration ....

http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcycle-ownership-experiences/22741-pulsar-200-ns-218.html

" Hello NS Owners and perspective owners.

I guess its time to ride.. oops Write a detailed ownership review of MY 200 NS. (its important that you note that I have ridden my bike and am going to write the ownership experience of that only, other bikes may have other issues or might not have the issue that I have)

Also note: Whatever I am writing here is not after reading some forum but from my Experiences.

Date of Purchase - 13.06.2012

Date of Delivery - 17.06.2012 (as I was away for work and couldn’t collect the bike)

Total kilometres done till 15.06.2012 – 2653

No. of days my bike was in Service centre – 5 (Please don’t jump to conclusions on reading this line. I will give you the reasons later in this post only)

Let me talk about my experiences in discreet segments:

1. Handling – 5/5

I doubt that anyone has any doubts regarding this. Handling is the most striking feature in this bike, its so so so easy to handle be it on smooth highways, heavy traffic or on off roads . Handling gives you confidence in zigzag city traffic also. Agreed the turn radius is bigger but I now don’t even think of it, might be its all about getting used to it.

In my rides which are mostly through non-highway (NH/SH) roads I felt very very comfortable with the handling. Even on off roads it was easy to handle.

2. Acceleration/top speed/braking – 4.5/5

I guess I am not the correct person to comment on top speed, because I have touched just 122kmph on this bike. I am not a fan of top speed, all I wanted from this bike was that it should be able to cruise smoothly without strain in 3 digit speeds and i am happy to realize that it does that effortlessly. Acceleration is not the kind as it is in duke/p220. The beauty of the acceleration is that you won’t even notice it, but post 6.5/7k rpms the story changes a bit and you feel that you are in the power band. I don’t know the figures but all I can say is the acceleration makes overtaking on highways effortless. I am also happy with the braking, but sometimes I feel that my front brake is a bit spongy. (But I have not taken any steps to rectify it as Its not that critical)

3. Build Quality – 4.5/5 (as compared to other Indian bikes or earlier pulsars)

Does the bike vibrate? – YES, IT does. But the amount of vibes that I get before 7-8k rpm is negligible, post 8k rpm it vibrates more, but even then I can use my RVM to locate my fellow riders. So the vibrations didn’t hinder the ride quality in MY case. The plastics are of good quality. But the vibes are more in the pillion seat for sure. I just sat twice as a pillion in my own bike  and thats all pillion experience I have with the NS. And it has been discussed a million times that the gap between the panel and the seat should have been reduced.

Someone in this thread asked how does the underbelly perform in normal real life conditions, as in muddy waters and all. I guess this pic will answer it all.

4. Tyres – 3/5

This is one part where Bajaj can improve a lot. I do not say that they are the worst tyres but it could have been better. Given the kind of bike that the NS is, it surely deserves better tyres. The tyres doesn’t inspire confidence in corners in wet roads. In many cases I have felt the rear tyre slipping in the corners. In dry roads its good, only when at high speeds and I change gear it seems to loose its grip for a split second and then again grips back. Last Sunday while trying to accelerate on a wet road, I experienced a wheel spin and I guess I was not that harsh on the throttle to get that response from the tyres. But under hard braking I have not faced any issues in any conditions. And yes the tyres do well in off-roads too.

5. Mileage: 35-38kmpl

This is the average of mileage calculations thrice. Yes I had posted that i got a mileage of 42.xx but as mentioned at that time, I was in run-in period and 90% of it was highway riding.

This figure here is calculated over a distance of approx 1200kms in different riding conditions. I guess looking at the pics you can understand what I mean by ‘different’. This is decent enough for me, given my riding style and conditions.

6. Issues that I have faced in these ~2700 kms

1. Bike drifts to the left at low speeds, but this does not hinder my ride quality.

2. Post 6k rpm the front small visor makes noise due to vibrations

3. The neutral light fickers sometimes

4. The gear box is very very smooth but i had false neutrals 2-3 times. Is that ok?

5. Even after having the rear tyre hugger, the bike throws dirt on you (only when riding at high speeeds)

6. There is a constant noise that is coming from the front of the bike. This issue is not sorted yet.

HEAT ISSUES ?? I don’t have any. The fan switches on when required and it has switched on many a times, but my legs do not complain about anything.

7. After Sales-Service- 2.5/5

The service centre guys surely needs to know more about the bike, my bike has been in the service centre for a total of 5 days (excluding the 1st service day) in the last one month. They svc guys claimed to have rectified issue 2 and 6 last week after keeping my bike for 3 days, but after 10 kms things were back to normal. Now again my bike is with them.

I did not have any performance based issues with my bike.

Am I happy with the quality of after sales service? NO

Why didn’t I write a mail to bajaj? Just testing my tolerance limit I guess.

As I had said in my previous posts I am not good at writing these things (reviews I mean). But this is what i feel for the bike, my experiences.

To sum it up:

I didn’t expect the bike to be flawless, because I guess that is impractical. All I wanted is a bike that will let me take it anywhere I want, will be comfortable, will handle well and will give me a decent mileage (Ok my CBZ classic gave my 25-30 kmpl, so I am happy with this  )

I am very happy with the bike the ride quality it provides, and I guess me doing ~2700 kms within a month itself proves that the bike is so inviting that everytime you see it you want to go for a ride...

Its been a difficult thing to write this and its time to rest for me... "

200NS .... since too many pros we knew already ... better to know the cons too

Cons reviewed ....

cons

1: first thing i would like to mention are the horns , i did not like them at all they sound weak and they will not be enough when using it on highways i think

2: There is lot of gaps between the pillion seat and the side panels which i don't like

3: There is very less space under the pillion seat i can only keep the documents in it nothing else

the bike sways to the left when i leave my hands

4: There is no center stand provided with the bike You have to buy it as an accessory

5: Tyres are good but they could have been better( but u cant get everything under that price tag) :68:

6: The yellow console looks sporty but i would like it more if it was blue

7: The digital speedometer is not good enough it has shown me incorrect digits many times

8: There are little vibration for the rider and pillion which can be felt but that create no problem in riding quality.

9: After three days of riding i was getting very irritating and weird noise from the back of the tyre , i showed it to the svc guys he told me that it is coming from disk brakes because the dirt has gone in it so he washed the bike and the sound is gone but after riding few km the sound was again coming so i have wash the disc brakes everyday with water i hope this problem will be gone after the monsoon as told by the the svc mechanic.

Note:All these points are according to my opinion and my experience it may be differ from person to person. at last i would to say that its a great bike no bike can provide everything to you its just marvelous bike with minor issues in such tempting price(under 1 lakh).

200NS .. carb Idiling screw adjustment

http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj639/Ashwini_Anand/Pulsar%20200%20NS/200%20NS%20Service/d90a4f85.jpg

Pulsar 200 NS idle rev ranges from 1.1 to 1.5. For people who have some problem with any tuning part, you don't have to wait to take it to service for this. Its a DIY - All you need is a screw driver.

In some bike you would have seen the screw which is adjusted for tuning the bike. You can locate the same when you put some throttle, you can see some steel wire part moving. If you look closely, you will find the screw there itself. Same goes here with our NS, but due to the frame its hidden and inacessible. So, its extended by a ~1.5 inch screw as seen on the image.

4. Top speed and torque are two different issues, for over taking you do not need top speed.

It is good to have a buffer when overtaking. :)

if the top speed of the bike is 100km/hr, no matter how much torque the bike have, it will never be able to overtake another vehicle travelling at 100km/hr.

and it is also unsafe to overtake at the bike's top speed.

Slow down abit, smell the air and enjoy the scenery.

Caught the touring bug once again!

relax bro .. do note on 200NS i too has uploaded the DOWNSIDE or CONS ( pls see #50286 ) and will keep updating the cons once i received infos on it ...

reasons doing it is to have future owners to aware the possibilities they will face when getting the bike ...

and hopefully with the infos we got from India owners riding 200NS will have umpl and bajaj to aware and do their part to rectify these issues ..

for future owners will know what to expect the pros and cons to have their mentality prepared to accept what they will probably experience ...

which bike has no pros and cons ??? ... ;)

of cos la, new bike mah. wait like 2-3 years, then c how.

Some bikes can take more abuse some can take less. Lets just say that if you pamper the pulsar, it will pamper you back. If you screw it, it will bite you in the back. Honda and Yamaha are not like that, they will still take care of you even if you screw it.

This forum all bike lovers so its natural pulsars are praised, but if you go out to UM and check out the regular folks who come there they will scold pulsar. Ofcourse they are not taking care of their bike properly, but other bikes owners are also not taking care but never scold their bike, why ah?
