Yea. In fact I only bought 1 piece, the other 15 I got from a guy in US for USD30 including mailing. The asking price here is too absurd. No wonder Kawa bike sales are suffering here.

Zero progress, I went down to take the photo of my Zephyr right after I read your reply. It is collecting dust now :thirsty:

Hey there Phang, I read through the posts and saw that you have a compression tester for the cylinders. Mind if I ask where did you get it from and whether it can be bought locally? I've got the engine in my house now, need to do a compression test before I decide any further.

I bought the compression gauge from the following shop many years ago when they were still in Balestier Road. Paid around $60~$70 if I remember correctly. There are a few places selling this too, Alltools Pte Ltd and the tools shop above the Tekka Mall market.

Thanks Phang. Have a few tools to get before splitting the engine case:

Compression tester

Electric impact wrench

Micrometer torque wrench

Flywheel holding tool

The compression tester has all the sockets needed for different types of engines?

No problem. If you have an impact wrench, most of the time you don’t need to hold the flywheel/clutch basket to undo the nut.

My compression gauge came with 2 adaptors but the pitch of the threads was not really fit the spark plug hole. I wrapped the adaptor with a few layers of Teflon tape (those white colour plumber tape) to seal it. You don’t need a lot of force to screw in the adaptor, finger tight will do. It will not leak.

Hi Phang,

I am captivated to read about the progress of your restoring your Zephyr ZR750. I envy you have a bro whom is helping you to ship parts from Japan. I register an account with JPCTRADE.COM but the shipping and agent fee can cost more than the item I am bidding.

Here is the break down of the price incurred

Item price JPY 1,022

*Agent fee JPY 5,000

*Inland delivery JPY 500 (Approx)

*Bank charge JPY 700

*Shipping JPY 1,800 (Approx)

I am also doing some minor servicing on my bike, a Suzuki Impulse 400, not much on the road, but I like its retro styling. Its currently down waiting for spare parts from Suzuki Japan, one of the metal coolant pipe is corroded and the o-ring is also worn out.

I am keeping the progress of my servicing here

One more thing.. Any of you guys here know of a shop or place in Singapore that does rewinding of stators? Been looking around to no avail. Should be some electrical shop I guess.. The OEM stators in my bike go kaput after 20,000 on the odo, so was thinking of rewinding it with heavy duty wires.

There's a shop at King George. Not sure if they will rewind it tho. I tried rewinding my remote control car's electric motor when I was a kid. But the wire was given by a friend,so I have no idea where to buy them.

Hi there. Im new to this forum but have been following this thread for over 2 years now. One of the reasons I bought my 750 last year is because of this thread and Im interested to know whats the progress.

My own 750 is a 1996 unit with less then 20k km on the clock but as with all things this age, a lot has to be done to bring it back to its glory days.

I'm impress with most of the purchases that was made for your project and was wondering if the project has been abandoned, I will be interested to purchase most the parts that was described in the post.

PM me if you want to see the parts being used as it would be a shame for them to be lying idle and rusting in storage.

Best regards.
