Hi,

I'm an expat, just arrived in Singapore a week ago, and am looking for a small used bike for weekend rides. Does anyone have a list of dealers that sell used bikes and their addresses? i'd like to visit a few dealers and pick something up either today or next weekend.

Thanks.

Tom.

Thanks for the responses, the boss (wife) has spoken and she wants a vespa (of course i want a 1098, but it's not worth arguing). I'm looking at a few in the garage sale section here, thanks for the tip.

Is there a Vespa dealer in Singapore? New and/or secondhand?

Thanks.

How about a Vespa for the missus and a 1098 for you instead? Thread moved to correct section.

From your post you sound like a keyboard warrior with a grudge against expats (and i'm guessing you're a "local" too. I don't think i'm better than Singaporeans. . . just you) My reference to being an expat was to explain why i don't know about local bike shops, since i had only been here for a week when i wrote the first post.

If you don't like my posts then please don't read any more of them. but keep the rude and racist comments to yourself. No one likes a smart arse.

As for my riding skills, which i think you are referring to in your last sentence. I believe in respect for others and responsibility for your self both on the road and on the internet. I hope you show a little more respect for others on the road than you do on the internet.

I apologise if my previous posts offended any locals, i'm new here and sure i haven't learnt all the cultural and social sensitivities unique to Singapore.

Tom.

P.s. In Australia my reply would have simply been. . . "Oi, Jezza. . . How's get ****ed sound?" but i'm trying to respect that this may not be appropriate in Singapore.

just my 2 cents... Singaporeans are more united and more "conservative".. Try to be more restricted in your words as the way you speak in Australia will be VERY diff from Singapore, unless you are already SUPER close to THAT particular person..

Just a comment... not to offend anyone as well.. :)

Cheers..

Kindly read thru at least the intro section first before decide to post any comments.... thanks...

Please proceed to this website/web link if you guys have any technical issues on Kawasaki Kips/KR150, I'll update the 1st POST as and when there's a new question. Newbies questions on the top as well. :)

if u're aussie, u shd've figured out i'm aussie as well (look at the nick - jezza jezza jezza). me dad's aussie and i spent the last few years there.

don't be so quick to anger. i caveated my remark by saying "i may be wrong". i was just saying you could be more polite.

coming into a public forum and saying **** like "Umm, hello bike shops? I have cash and want to spend it at your shop, please tell me where you are." and "i want a 1098" paints u as a snobby elitist b*stard" who expects to be waited on by the locals.

i'm proudly singaporean but more often than not, i'm prematurely judged as being rotten because of my (our) features and skin colour. and let me tell you, there is good reason for this - you are one of them.

i conclude with a reminder that i speak for no one but myself. i do not purport to speak for either singaporeans or aussies.

Jezza, if you're Aussie you should know you can't caveat yourself out of a smart arse comment. Say what you mean and mean what you say. If you wanted to say "you should be more polite" then thats what you should have typed.

I accept that my comment "Umm, hello bike shops? I have cash and want to spend it at your shop, please tell me where you are." is not appropriate here in Singapore and i apologise for that. As i said, i had only been here for a week and really did not know that singaporeans are more conservative than Australians (who would have read that with a jocular tone). Again, thats my problem and i apologise. I'm slowly learning to fit in a little better.

As for wanting a 1098 making me a snob. . . why? What bike do you want? Shall i use your choice to make a judgement about your personality? I've owned, ridden and raced many bikes from motocross, motard, supersport and scooters. I don't think my personality has changed with each bike i've owned.

For a person who claims to be Australian Jezza, you have a very unaustralian attitude. The bike communities in Australia and even Dubai where i have previously lived are extremely helpful to new comers and accept that sometimes a new person might not fit in perfectly and needs help, not attacking. Here i've found everyone except you to be helpful and welcoming, yet you say it's me that gives Australians a bad name?

Thank you to the kind member that advised me about Tong Aik, the shop that specialises in Vespas, i'm heading there today and viewing another bike from the garage sale section tomorrow. To the people that have offered to show me around the bike shops, thank you, it's much more generous than i had expected. If i can't find something on my own then i'll certainly take you up on the offer.

Again i apologise to anyone i offended with my previous posts. . . except you Jezza, since you're so Australian i'm sure you can handle it without an apology.

Welcome to Singapore Tommy D, there are time people get too sensitive, maybe due to tense in their daily lifestyle, hang loose friend.

Ha, funny story. Yeah Tong Aik was open today, but not the showroom upstairs that has the bikes. The lady at the counter said to come back tomorrow.

peace man, just a misunderstanding.

as a foreigner visiting bike shop and getting a bike, first thing comes to my mind is getting you to pay more than necessary. *not all bike shops, but sadly there're black sheep out there.

go around, check their prices *our used bike section very useful too

queries or doubt feel free to post and check out with our friendly forumer.
