I think there is this aerosol spray that you can get. It is a colourless pain spray that u can spray over the easily rusted area. Works just the way as how paint will prevent rust. only this is colourless.

Autosol or however u spell it will not prevent rust. It only remove the rust. I spent ytd's afternoon scrubbing off rusts from my phantom. ha. so i know it.

use steel wood? >> bro, where to buy?

Steel Wool, before it misleads someone ... :faint:

You can get it at Mustafa, but do apply clear lacquer or rust converter / paint - or the rust will come back in no time. :)

Don't ever use steel wool. The abrasive effect will cause more rust in future. Then you'll be a slave to polishing. Rust lppl.. because of our humid climate.

Best to just get a metal polish like meguaire (spelling nt sure).

dun use autosol, brasso.. you got to always use it after that.. nv tried steel wool.. but i know it removes rust fairly fast.. i bought a rust remover from diy shop.. about $11+ a bottle.. useful.. ever used aluminium foil as well..

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

Hey dude, any recommendation for rust protector? brands? I haven't come across any. Not sure which is a rust protector.

For yourself, if you use steel wool and polish + coat with rust protector, how long till the rust comes back?

me? i also haven started using steel wool and rust protector too. my bike is a new bike as of now.

i was quoting my buddy as an example as he had rode his brand new bike for 6 years already. he uses steel wool every 2 weeks with no rust protector.

for rust protector, i believe that you can find it at those DIY shops.

eliminate rust.. use steel wool or an aluminium foil.. be careful though.. some surfaces are actually painted silver over the metal so it may appear to be pure metal.. the rust had actually formed through the thin layer of paint.. so when u use the steel wool or foil on these surfaces u may damage the finish.. try not to use on chrome areas as it may cause scratches.. or maybe rub lightly

convert rust.. use rust converter.. available at autobacs just ask the salesman

prevent rust.. a coat of WD-40 every week would protect ur metal like magic.. spray on and wipe off excess with a kitchen towel.. no need to buy those fancy rust protectors.. u basically have to reapply them as frequently so might as well use the cheap and good old WD-40
