Well, was having an issue with a bad battery the other day, it kept dieing. Well i needed to get home, so I had someone jump my bike from their car... well didnt realize he had it running. Got home fine, and replaced the battery....

Well now my headlight wont turn on, and I just replaced the bulb, so it cant be that. At first, it would take a little while to come on, now it wont come on at all. Bike runs fine, and starts fine now, but no headlight :(

Tried messing with the start switch, but it seems that is not the culprit.

Any ideas??

I can think of 2 likely causes which I have experienced

a) Loose wiring, esp those which have been cut and tied together previously and covered with black tape.

b) bulb holder faulty - the two connecting points to the two points of the bulb corroded

No point slapping or banging your headlights.

Could i just check: what do you see as the correlation between having the car running and your current set of problems?

Well, ive heard that if the car isnt running, the bike draws only what it needs from the battery. If it IS running, then it draws whatever the battery gives, plus whatever the alternator is pushing... but thats just so ive heard. Maybe its just coincidence...

techincally you are right..... :thumb: :thumb:

In this case, it does seem something gave way during the jump-start.

Another point to note - jumper cables, most ppl over look the size & quality of the jump cable used. Cheap jumper cables normally dun connect well & dun carry enuff amperage across to help start. They get stiff after a few Jump Start. :cheeky:
