DIY Cutting of sub-frame.

hi guys.. just wondering if anyone has done dis b4???? can d sub frame of a tzm be cut with a hack saw???? any tips??? any did b4?

changing to a moulded tail.. got d tail already.. but i tot hand itchy wanna try diy.. lol.. its just to hack off abit at the back.. Limsteel.. if i have RVF pro arm spare... i will try.. hahahah

erm... be careful when u modify sub frame... if u screw up the geometry the bike's handling will be affected

Sub-frame can be cut, but you must know where to cut to as not to effect the main frame structure. Another consideration is that it can be welded back to it's original form should you change your mind later.

 

Use angle grinder, with disc for cutting. 5 mins job.

Usually cutting sub-frame usually for inserting drive belt, replacing chain and sprocket. Like for harley bikes. Have to find shops that got do conversion for chain bikes to belt drives, they shld be the expert for the job.

 

For Pro-swing arm i not so sure about that.

Fyi cutting/modding of frame is illegel under LTA regulation. I also tempted to cut off my sub frame.

Modding of the main frame is illegal because it may compromise the structure integrity. The sub-frame is just an attachment to the main frame, and it is usually not weight bearing so any mod on it will not affect the main frame.

I mean if u suay suay kena caught la.. If u look on the road can see so many bikes esp 2b sportsbike doing it, but no prob.. Just make sure the subframe is still sturdy enough to hold the weight of your pillion and dun kpkb if you kena caught..
