I think the driving schools teaches you how to handle the vehicle, not the courtesy and etiquette of it.

My turn. Have anyone seen a lady texting on her phone in a convertible with the top down? I did! I saw it this morning :slapforehead:

Don't worry, this was inside Coronation Road, where those expensive cars are.

i had the experience of stopping behind a car during red light on a gentle slope~ and suddenly the car started to roll backwards towards me.... :giddy:

and i saw the driver and passenger like playing while waiting for the lights to turn green~ and pressed my horn but they like didn't hear it... and next i heard the super LOUD horn from the truck behind me... couple immediately stopped, and the car ceased rolling~ one inch from my front wheel.... :faint:

My friend told me.. maybe it's just coz he waited in line so that more people can admire his car...

Nong nong time ago... I remember while riding my small tiny scooter.. this Lexus SUV, overtook me and forced me off the road in a single lane road. Rod into the the bus bay to avoid an accident. Then caught my senses liao i follow that stupid fella till stop at traffic light and scolded him in front of his family. His reply "sorry, I didn't see you" Can dun see me when overtaking me MEH? best thing, it could have all been avoided if he had just turned his head to check his blind spot.

Just 2 months back, me also rode into another bus bay to avoid an accident. Took down that fella's car number but in the end did not to complain to the authorities.

Thank goodness the bus bays were always empty.

It is a good habit to always check your mirrors every other second while riding.

My eyes do not stay focus to the front all the time but rather switch every other second from front to left mirror and then right mirror and back to the front.

The only time I look in front and not in the mirrors is when I am on the track.

That is why up till today I do not understand why there are some idiots who ride around on public roads without mirrors on, the worst kind of idiot being those who ride with their mirrors FOLDED in!!!:faint: :nono:

Its just like jumping into bed with a whore whilst the condom you bought is left in the pocket of your pants laying on the cheap hotel floor.......... and discovering that you contracted AIDs from her a few months later. :giddy:

just sat a stupid red plate rx8 i think anyhow cut my lane, was takwen back... out of nowher he just appear and cut in front of me all in a spilt of second, scared me as i almost wanted to change to another lane, if i really change lane we will collicide!   stupid fellow

later a yellow car keep tailgate me in cte, i am in e middle lane riding at 100km, consider slow meh?? He wanna be faster can change lane to the right lane, from my rear mirror look like a evo or lancer (dunno hw to See).

Y those drivers so fu@ked up! evo and rx8 v big meh????

Yes, do watch out for wrx, evos, lambos, ferraris, integras, 3-series etc... many (not all) are driven by people who are out to prove a point... that they have fast cars that eat other vehicles on the road.

a wrx tailgated me on PIE just now, and almost crashed into my tail when I braked for cars stopping in front. he cut left and overtook me and i saw a young guy at the wheel.

other incidents:

an evo gave me a super loud and long horn when i took a bit long to get out of a filter lane, cause I was giving way to a car on the main road.... overtook me once on the main road... young male driver.

bmw refused to let me go first after the lights turned green, and drove side by side with me along a narrow one-lane road until I was forced to brake to let him drive on to avoid me ending up in the drain... a young male driver at the wheel.

black lambo speeding and weaving and cut right in front of me along sims ave. such a small gap between a taxi and me and he/she still insisted on overtaking... wonder how long his driving skills will keep him alive.

Don't mean to stereotype, but I try to stay away from these cars whether I am riding or driving. More often than not, they seem to pose the highest risk to me... and guess we shouldn't forget taxis.

Ride safe.

In this case, I slightly sympathize; you were very unlucky to have met so many drivers with patience thinner than their brains as well as having egos bigger than their engine.

Can't stand those people.

Back to the topic: When you've established a constant crusing speed on your bike on a major road, have you guys ever encountered vehicles turning into your lane from a minor road?

I've had that happen to me several times when the distance between me and the car was near, and that justified my need -- if not for a requirement to get out of danger, to brake...

I'm thinking that these group of people misjudged their abilities of their vehicles -- thinking that they would not cause inconvenience to the vehicles on the main road when they begin entering or filtering into it...

Haha... at least you got 2 horns, I only have one and muz rev engine then got sound... den when I rev the horn's sound gets drowned by the engine noise cos 2-stroke quite noisy :sian:

Those taxi uncles prefer to overtake me instead. But always overtake too close... sometimes I see very dangerous hor then want to give them a piece of my mind but my poor bike cannot keep up with them I LL.... :sian: It's a good thing also lah, cos it prevents me from speeding unnecessarily

Always make sure you have eye contact with the driver. If he/she has no eye contact with you... they have not seen you and will turn onto your path.

They could have their heads turned in your direction, but if no eye contact, assume they have not seen you and take proactive evasive action.

I read in a bike mag, and also agree, that even eye contact does not ensure that the driver will not turn into your path. I have no ready solution to this problem. When I am involved in a similar situation, I will do one or a combination of the following:

- flash my headlights

- sound my horn

- slow down

- filter to an outside lane if it's clear

- get ready to stop, fingers always on the brake lever

- watch the wheels of the car, cause movement there always best indicator of car starting to move

My 2 cents please.

Saw one on CTE just now...

dark coloured WRX with 4 headlights (??) and sky-high spoiler, speeding down a still fairly congested CTE weaving through traffic... I estimate about 120-130 kmh when other traffic was going about 70-80 kmh.

Haiz... michael schumacher, he thinks he is... haha

But michael had to brake hard cause taxi uncle refuse/no time to give way to him on the overtaking lane. :cheeky:

Stiebel, Fiamm or Magnum.... very loud horns.

That's always the first accessory I get when I get a new bike.

Ya, agree with you. Some people look but don't see and some listen but don't hear. :faint:

In this case.. it is better to take control of the situation by initiating the defensive options first.

Certainly better than having to find out that your right of way was not respected. Could end up dead right.

Most valuable 2 cents from you. :thumb:
