Yesterday i was filtering into the left filter lane when 2 bikes filter pass a SUV from its left and joined the heavy traffic at Bradell. Me third bike a short distance behind. The SUV steered left deliberately and moved forward a little to close the gap and i had brake. What a sick sh*t. He cannot join the traffic must hold back bikers to wait with him. Confirm he got something against riders squeeze, or he envious but cannot squeeze and trying to educate us not to squeeze. Pui!

No space. Its not the inch forward innocently kinda blocked me, its the steer the 2 front wheels left 45 degress and inch forward to block completely kinda block. Anyway, no rush to let the driver eat my 2T since it was heavy traffic, i sure got chance later. Patience... :cheer:

Got this incident to share. A couple days back, i was cruising along TPE at 110. Since i often have to cruise some 30 to 40km on local expressway i usually dun cruise at 100 when its all clear.

Then saw this 400cc sportbike rider cruising at 100 on centre lane, left arm across the fuel tank, leaning his weight on the left arm and right hand only on the handle, (like how those Maylaysian Kups like to do it), no side mirrors at all, wearing bermudas, sandals and open face helmet. I wanted to pass him on the right. But somehow i knew there was going to be trouble.

I'm riding NSR, wearing full face with gloves. riding jacket and shoes. I didn't bother taking out my P plate although I'm not one. i knew he was not going to take it lying down, letting someone let me pass him. He must be thinking "Bloody poser! Small bike only pose until like that. Yaya papaya P pLate!" Having followed behind for a while, i decided i had to pass him. I wanted to avoid a sticky situation. Option A was to give a thumbs up as i pass, friendly gesture. Riders like him have a point to prove on the road and probably have big egos. I decided not to, since i was not going to encourage his behaviour.

So i pehhhhh past him, as expected, he came out from cruising behind lane 2 and push forward. As i entered lane 2 he came in too. Chose option 2. Spotted him in my blindspot mirror, shift a little to the left to make space for him. to squeeze. Later the second time i pehhhhh past him never come and disturb already.

Wonder what do you riders do to avoid sticky situations before they happen? Some people really cannot take a small bike going faster than them even when its a properly executed, soft lane change. Have had many big bikes chase after me. OPne particular one went a short distance ahead, both hands off the handle bar to extend his rear foot pegs. I mean, you gotta be kidding right? Shielding your rear fairing in preparation to race with me? These days i find adopting the docile submissive kinda "i make space for you" behavior after overtaking them is the fastest to appeal to their egos and get me on my route again.

Those who die on our roads in accidents through no fault of others are actually killed by their own ego.

If he needs to blow past you to prove a point and then get himself plastered onto the back of slow moving vehicle.... thats his problem. Its not your fault.

The ego should be taken to a track and left there. Those who need to prove that they are 'fierce' riders should do it at the track.

It is at the track that the men can be separated from the boys. He who holds the throttle wide open the longest and brakes the least wins the ego game.

Ride safe Bro. Never never let these people bother you. Most importantly, never succumb to the temptation of letting your ego take over your sensibility.

The last time I was on my small bike, I had a few encounters with those people. Their common action is to always overtake recklessly, letting me hear their exhaust as they do so.

He must be thinking "Bloody poser! Small bike only pose until like that. Yaya papaya P pLate!"

I dislike riders that think this way: Always thinking of and/or performing stunts of exclusivity unless the rider is of the same engine capacity as him (or her - in the rarest cases)

These days i find adopting the docile submissive kinda "i make space for you" behavior after overtaking them is the fastest to appeal to their egos and get me on my route again.

Let me guess? They were slow and somewhat hogging the lane that they're on? :nono:

I almost got swiped yesterday from a SFQ plate Camry. Stupid old man got into my lane. If I didn't horn, I think he'll cut through and then leave me on the road. That was at Patterson Road heading towards Scotts Road. He wanted to cut to Orchard Boulevard and he didn't signal. After I overtook him, then he signalled :slapforehead:

One of the ways I avoid conflict is to overtake, but do it gradually.

I think it's somehow less offensive than tearing past another rider.

Ego = Trouble

tats why not only need to watch the front, the side the back the entire 360 degree road also must watch... But sometimes there are unpredictable situations when a speeding vehicle suddenly appears from behind and swirled beside you...

my sp broke down on the ns highway on the way back from kulai and it was 30+ clicks away from singapore customs, luckily my r1 bros escort me back with hazard lights and by kicking my pillion footrest with me on it back to singapore! have to thank them so much for their help, luckily we came in in a group

Looking at the ride tells everything about the rider

haha.. me on the other hand, once saw a litre sportsbike along first link on the causeway. Pulled over to offer to kick his foot peg, at least into Singapore or whatever. he whole head sweat until like pig, but say dun want, not safe. Told him to on his signal light at least, cause he's kinda hard to spot from behind, it was 10 plus, me coming back after petrol. Lol... Guess he not confident seeing my P plate, dun know will cause him to fall not. haha... can't blame him.

I chanced upon this thread some time back. Was surprised at some of the things on the road. As i scrolled through the pages i realized there were many case examples of road bullies and how some riders avoided close shaves etc. A consequence was that i got a bit desensitized to such things. As i ride, i kinda took all the incidents on the road in my stride more easily, thinking, "hey! i think i read of a worse close shave on that chatterbox thread!". I finish about 50 pages already, whenever i having a break, or surfing net, a few pages a day.

Anyway... today while riding, stupid dog run across the road while i cornering into the expressway. Cute dog, but not so cute if i didn't brake in time. Vigilance saves lives.
