I can use your tips on north Thailand riding.. As I will be relocating back to Singapore from Phuket, I will be heading up north of Phuket before riding back home.. Plan to depart around 20th - 22nd Feb and taking 2 - 3 weeks to tour.. It'll be helpful to know which stops are recommended.. Am planning to head to the northern most peak of Thailand before riding back south..

Cheers mate..

Did you block off the kleen air injector? Wouldn't give you more horsepower but willl stop the backfiring.

And yes, removing the secondary butterflies is the cheapest and best mod available for the 2006/2007 ZX14. Be careful not to snap the throttle open too fast in 1st and 2nd, or you'll be looking at the sky REALLY quickly!

You are spot on mate. She's opens up real quick even if you are on a decently low speed on a higher gear & suddenly twist the throttle. Wacked it around a bit last night, but this saturday I'll be taking her on a speedrun.

Mate, I still need your help to know in details how to block off the kleen air injector as she really does some killer popping while coming down from higher to lower rpm. Please do let me know if there are any reference photos & write up to take me through step by step. This is really required. Pls help. After this I'll install the speedo healer & then She's set for the drags. Really appreciate it.

Hey guys,

What will be a realistic timeline for a Phuket - Chiang Mai - Singapore road trip?

Your original plan 2-3 weeks will be good for Phuket - Chiang Mai - Singapore. You can even try the northeastern route like Khon Kaen and Nan. Since you are located in Phuket it's a good time to get hold of a good road atlas from any book shops there. It's in Thai but the major roads will be in English.

Can you PM me your email? I can send you an iternary of 3 weeks which I did 2 years back.

I don't have my camera with me right now, but I try to describe it as detailed as possible. I'll post pictures when I can.

1) Remove right side fairings (3 pieces)

2) Look on top of the engine, theres a tube going from the airbox leading into a device just infront of the cam covers. This tube is about 2cm diameter.

3) Pull out the tube from the airbox, then block it off with a marble or something tight fitting ( I used an old AA sized battery)

4) Seal off the tube with some epoxy or rubber glue. I used liquid gasket.

5) Refit the the tube, put back the fairings.

Done!

Thanks for the email.. By looking at your schedule already got me excited for the upcoming trip.. Haha.. Your starting point and ending point is GP.. You mean Gelang Patah izzit?

Did you travel alone? Is it less dangerous further up north of Thailand?

Cheers mate..

When I'm back, let's catch up for a cup of coffee.. My treat..

Is your distance chart accurate? From Hua Hin to Khon Kaen looks further than the 608km in your chart.. Time taken you didn't fill in.. :( That'll be of great help! :)

I'm planning to just set a daily destination and go for it.. I'll limit to 6 hours riding per day max to fully enjoy the trip.. Hotels wise, do you think it'll be okay to search for accommodation when I reach the destination?

Cheers..

The distance chart's a guide I took from the road atlas. We took almost 10 hours riding from Hua Hin to Khon Kaen as there were way too many nice scenaries. Had lots of stopover to take pictures. Another alternative is to stay in Khorat as it's a major town. I'll be sending the GPS waypoints of hotels that I stayed and some attractions via emails to you. Open it with mapsource.

Do you have the time taken updates for your table? That'll be real helpful.. :)

I'm thinking of riding a maximum of 6 hours per day to fully enjoy the trip.. How's your daily riding pattern like?

My first 3 days was siong cos I wanted to cover more distance. But subsequently I had trimmed down to maximum of 6-7 hours per day other than that it's about 5-6 hours of ride. Sorry can't give you the exact timing. I calculated the timing based on the distance of 100 km in 1 hour. From the road atlas you should be able to calculate the timing to reach. From there I added another 2-3 hours delay like toilet break, take pictures, meal breaks etc etc sometimes may be more.

Hey guys:

Tentatively my plan is as follows:

1. Phuket - Hua Hin (637km)

2. Hua Hin - Nakhon Ratchasima (474km)

3. Nakhon Ratchasima - Khon Kean (150km)

4. Khon Kean - Sukhothai (423km)

5. Sukhothai - Nan (249km)

6. Nan - Chiang Rai (250km)

7. Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai (242km)

8. Chiang Mai - Mae Hong Son (178km)

9. Mae Hong Son - Tak (374km)

10. Tak - Kanchanaburi (578km)

11. Kanchanaburi - Chumphon (606km)

12. Chumphon - Hat Yai (487km)

13. Hat Yai - Singapore (890km)

Total approximate distance - 5,538km

I haven't factored in on interesting spots between the planned stops. Do you think it's realistic?

Cheers mates..
