Sry but frankly the new names a bit long and hard to find threads.

 

indeed, seems all like similar cos starts with same lettering...

 

scrolled up down about 3 4 times then can find.

my eye oredi tak boleh tahan, unkle madman and unkle vince and unkle ausa dunno how.

 

I find it easy to look for the appropriate threads BECAUSE they all start with PK Official. Move my eyes abit to the right, ignore the 'PK official' and I see the actual name of the thread...which have barely been changed from the old titles.

 

So many threads, so much scattered info.

 

Scattered info? You mean scattered like 'everybody opens their own question threads and nuggets of good advice are dispersed all over' or 'important/frequently asked about topics have their own threads so its easier to search through the thread' scattered? You know how the forum search function is like; you won't find much good info by searching through hundreds of pages of 'official questions'. Keeping the threads smaller and more specific will hopefully make it easier to find specific info and cut out chit chat so its easier to search through it.

Official is just to make sure that topics along that vein of thought stay in one thread. Imagine a new lunch outing thread created every week and pushing down other useful threads. Official is just to consolidate, not to make rides or whatever 'official'. In fact what the hell does that even mean? On 'official' rides we whip out a PK banner and shirts and whatnot and go rolling down the street? Its just a way to organise things and I personally don't place any importance on it.

YOU'RE NOT A PK?@!?! THEN GTFO OUT!!!?@!@($U.....is not what anyone here would say. Being a PK or not has no bearing whatsoever on anyone's participation in the forum. However I don't see why a sub-forum named PK should not also have threads named after it.

Give the man a break to work things out. And don't take things too hard on him okie. You all already did well by input too much info all at 1 go.

1st & foremost, I welcome all feedbacks & comments, supportive or negative.

 

I take note on the common start headers.

I also understand that there'll be split agreements.

 

I wish to state that, in this 2 weeks or so, do bear with me for the changes.

As Im in the admist of trying & testing the re-vamp of this PK section.

I appeal for everyone to temporary get use to the new ideas, also, can give constructive comments on how we can make this section better.

 

As for the Official tag, I tag along the title headers because previously, the whole section was quite in a rojak. Thou easy to find which & what thread, but its in a chaotic mode, whereby, when newbies comes in, dont bother to do/use the search & just start a new thread, thus making a many a times repeated queries.

 

For the diversion of thread dedicated to technicalities of specific bikes(thou Phantom only has 2 types), it is to ease the Old Questions For Newbie thread, where, it has been very congested with tons of questions, which makes reading a hassle.

 

As for this Chit chat thread, lun, it is a iconic thread since the days of "Sian" & "The Knights" thread.

Thou SBF has a Chatterbox section, but hey, mostly the PK(or non, will still come to this later) would just camp here, machiam gather @ kopitiam, la kopi & kah sian away the day.

But the main point is, to let the people's off topic chats to be linked to here instead of straddling the respective informative threads.

 

Well, Phantom Knights. Yes, I would say not everyone is a PK. But thing is, PK is all about coming together from all walks of life to have one common thing. That is, riding.

Ok...to me whether the thread is official or not is unimportant, the name can be unofficial, bo liao, kosong, anyhow, whatever, as long as the stuff that matches the thread's description be kept to there.

If you realised, this thread title is SIBEH LONG. And displayed on the menu with the other LONG TITLES it's really terrible.

 

I believe an OFFICIAL thread for TECH NOOB questions is fine, and even OFFICIAL CHIT-CHAT THREAD was fine (the old title). But wah rau, this title.... surely can be improved further.

 

Thus said, I just request if you want to put the tag, just leave it at "[PK Official] Whatever Title".

 

And another request, my lunch kaki thread, please delete it and start new one, I don't want it to be a [PK Official] thread.

I quite like the changes made so far.

 

To me the new tags make things easier for me (to see which threads are worth check out and which are new ones that the newbies start for their own convenience).

 

The segregation and refocusing of topics (i.e TA150 and TA200) is IMO a nice change as well. When people come in, they can see which thread may better suit their interest and go there, rather than something too general and people starting their own threads all over again. In this aspect I feel like the CB400 group has a way of organizing that i find it good to emulate (i.e Separate threads for Engine Oil, Coolant, Boxes, Suspension, Electricals, etc). Makes things easy to find, just by scrolling up and down, and should further deter new (i've got a problem with my bike's ... ) threads.

 

Having the tags such as the Chit chat or lunch kaki threads just help bring people together. There are riders who like to and want to join the PK's (us who have come to know each other as friends through the PK section) and make new friends with common interests (i.e bikes, riding, etc). And most of them are new riders or have not had a "riding group" before. Having the tags help these new people know where to go to start interacting with us, be it joining in our online conversations or FNOs or meeting up during lunch breaks. I personally feel this is what the PK spirit is about (or rather this spirit was what attracted me in the beginning). We probably should not be building our own little kingdoms in a public forum if we like to keep things private.

 

The length of the thread title does not concern me. I still can quickly and accurately identify which thead is what and go where i want no problem (maybe my browser window is larger at a higher resolution? I don't know). If it does affect those who for some reason or another cannot identify the threads, then we can probably see how we can shorten the tags and modify the thread titles.

 

I do think that the changes are moving in the right direction and feel that it has been a great job done so far KeV's. Either way (to stay with the changes or to revert back to what was tried and true), it is for good of the online PK community. Why not we at give the changes some time and try to adapt to something new? Say for a month or two after all planned changes have been implemented? It can probably do the rest of us more good!

If some may feel that the "Official" word is too daunting, may be we can omit that word from the tag? say make it just [PK], or [PKG] or something... can help shorten the tags as well.

Not so much to stop them from fall far away, but to re-consolidate and focus interest. If it the thread does not garner interest, no point stickying it don't you think? No harm letting it fall away even if tagged. Probably can wait for some digger to bring it back up again if he searches for it

You see, for stickies, I classify it for those important notices.

I know that there's hasnt been any change up there, but its coming, as Im trying out the main body 1st.

 

I break down the rest of the topics related to stay in the main bodies so as not to interfere the important notes.

 

I'm cool with the names, tag, length and all. Nice to see things get organized up.
