tyre sealant

alot of mixed reviews about this though... and it's very messy when u need to change tyres~

I doubt this thing will work. Cause if inject something liquid inside, the tire balancing will be distorted alot. Imagine if you half fill a rubber ball with water , and try to roll it...it will wobble. I think at high speed, bike will vibrate if balancing is off.

There's another product selling in most petrol kiosk - a spray canister which inject foamy stuff into puctured & fully deflated tire. The spray canister has enough gas to fully inflate a tire and seal the leak. The foamy stuff will harden into something rubbery. I got a colleague to tried it twice when tire punctured overnite at carpark. He charged up the tire, then drove to nearest tire repair shop.

I asked him what happened to those harden foamy stuff left inside his tubeless tire rim? He says no problem , the repair shop just clean up for him.

A friend of mine tried this before but his cut was a bigger. A can of it is enuff to inflate a tire but it couldnt really seal due(the big cut)..what happened was the sticky foam actually spits out while the bike is on the move and his bike rear was messed by the sticky foam. It didnt, anyway sealed it as we found out the next day it went flat.

I kept a packet that consist of 2x mini canister pump on top of the conventional "beef jerky" look hard rubber, rubber glue & pincer for emergency. Till now, touch wood no "explosion" happened

Hi bro tt6389 and bro panther,

Okay, okay... I am quite a fickled minded person... You know, Libras...... :cheeky:

Anyway, I've just went to Motoworld to upgrade my Scorpio from a 1-way to a 2-way system...

I think I have found a way around the receptivity problem. The Scorpio web-site would want you to believe that their product's signal can permeate through shopping malls and basement carpark right? I would want to believe too...

So I had a look at the installation instruction for the antennae positioning. What Mugi does is that he'll snip off one end of the antennae and make it into a pronged connector so can be screwed to the chassis right? Well, when he's about to do that I told him that I'll settle it myself cause I want to experiment something...

The instruction says try to place the antennae in a position that is vertical if possible, not to be close to any metal, and if possible expose the wire... Well, the only best way that I can place my antennae is to run it along the place where the seat covers over, towards the brake light in a horizontal position. The end is not being cut in anyway, just free-hanging in a straight position...

Now I am now on my 11th floor house, with my bike at Basement 1 carpark and I am still able to receive the signal!

Any better ideas? Basically I'm sort of applying the computer wi-fi router system theory, that is so long as the antennae is straight and long enough instead of crumpling up, the signal strength should be strong then... Just like a laptop with Wifi, it's antennae wire is also surround the chassis of the laptop to receive good signal...

Daymn. Why did we not think of that? That is true, with a longer antenna and making it straight and stuff, free of impediment, the antenna receptivity will be much much better.

The unfortunate part is, I suck at doing such stuff so I will stick with this for now...unless you are free to help me do it. :cheeky:

I think I'll go Motoworld tomorrow and ask Muji to rewire it for me, similar to yours. I think he wouldn't charge me anything coz its a very simple job.

Hey bro panther,

Sure will help you one! Got time and place, sure can one lah!

Anyway, my current experiment is far from perfect... While I can still receive signal when I was in the lift going up to 11th floor, the moment I step inside my house I lost the signal... Only when I put near the window can I receive signal... :cheeky:

I have decided to experiment on extending the current antennae length as the current one is too short and not able to expose out the bike... I intend to run it along below the bike cover, towards the brake light assembly, out through one side of the bike, run along and across my wing-rack, back through the other side of the bike, and back towards my MCM again... That takes a whole lot more of antennae wire but I'm quite confident that it would boost the signal a whole lot better...

BTW, did you guys register your Scorpio on their web-site? I ask Mugi and he said they only provide 3 months warranty..... :giddy:

Off topic question: May I know use what to clean wheel-rims and drive-chain most effectively? I going to petrol station to buy some petrol, or should I buy diesel instead to clean?...

Heh heh, not right now. I am feeling like shyt, TT knows why.

Anyway for rim cleaning I suppose you have to raise the wheel somehow, use a degreaser, oil will also do. If it was never sprayed before or anything, using a thinner is ok, but you will get weird noises from the disc brake for like one or two days. This is an area I still need more touching on myself.

TT, thanks for all the help tonight.

Hi Bro Panther,

no problem man ...hope you recover soonest...

btw...you feeling sad & disapppointed yr dream gal never show up at Dr guru 's place? hehehe...hope she's reading this...and send u a consolation pm :cheeky:

..............................

Bro Gaofar, I hope yr experiment works, coz if it does, I can shop in places like jb holiday plaza and have peace of mind. :thumb:

I didn't register my scorpio at website coz muji says it is only local warranty based on reciept.

I normally use car shampoo (with anti-rust properties) when I wash myself. I also use a water based degreaser (for household kitchens) on the chain and rim. I think water based degreaser is safer than oil based type - because I heard some oil based type can damage the paint work , if accidentally splashed during brushing of the rim or chain.

But whenever I send for servicing at De Xing, the mechanic always give the bike a 20 min FOC bike wash - with 2 cups of soap powder mixed with a pail of water. Then hose off with water jet. He painstakingly wash every corner with cloth, and use soft brush on rim and chain. I was so satisified with the cleanliness that I always give him a $5 personal tip - to ensure he repeats the performance next time I come again. When he declined, I told him even car wash refuse to wash my bike for $5.

When I reach home, I immediately spray the whole bike with a layer of high gloss silicone based coating to protect the paintwork - which also repels water & dirt. It makes my next wash easier also - coz dirt and grease cannot stick so easily to the paint work. The gloss & shine also stays longer than waxing. I bought the gloss coating spray from motorworld.

I think thinner is effective for degreasing and cleaning but bad for the paintwork if splashed. Turpentine is better /safer in that sense. Petrol shouldn't be use - its too flammable & dangerous. It also contain small concentration of carcinogenic benzene. Diesel is much better - but got to soak for a while before brushing off the grease.

Dammit Tim edit your post. If the person we were talking about sees it I bet she will send me a whole lot of PMs trying to kill me. Probably take her bike and ram it all over me thrice for good measure. >_

i used silicon sprayed before too... cos it is really good for keeping everything shiny and slight protective ability...

however, after some time i stop used them for the tend to catch small particles... and if you never notice, during wipping off, you might actually scratch you paintworks with those trapped particles...

in the end, still think the best protection is wax... thick layer of wax... kekeke...

just sharing my little experience...
