sorry bro Panther - for my "careless" comments....:cheeky: On second thought, that statement on being "sad & disappointed" is over exaggerated...

Yo bro Gaofar,

How's yr experiment with your scorpio antennae? My antennae is now removed and dangling just outside my seat. I think the reception improved alittle. Before this, the antennae was actually coiled & bundled up below the side cover.

I am planning to remove a short portion of the antennae 's insulation coating at the tip and electrically connect it to one of the chassis frame's bolt. Sort of using the bike frame as a giant antennae. I hope it works.

..........

About the segamat hot spring trip, nobody expressed interests so far....maybe I must try other threads...

'Morning bro tt6389,

Well, I am trying to find the correct type of antennae wire... Will definitely need some time on this... However, you mention that you'll want to connect one end to the chassis? I'm afraid it won't work, 'cause the signal strength will not be strong as the chassis is of too much impedence if you connect to it.

I'm not sure what is the actual term for it but it's like the the power from the MCM trying to transmit signal strength through the bike chassis?... The signal strength might be shorten instead... That's why I would prefer to extend the antennae wire as that will surely increase the signal strength...

I would want to go to the "spring" trip leh! If no one from fellow Bol'Dorians would want to go, perhaps if you manage to find others instead can keep me in the loop? Please let me know the time and place and I'll let you know if I can make it.

Thanks in advance!

"Sad and disappointed" where Tim? I am senile you know. Comes with the age. Feeling better now by the way, once again thanks for the help on Friday night.

About the antenna, I did mention the way to increase sensitivity would be to extend the length of the antenna and have it be free of impediment, ie. the last part of the extended antenna should be somewhere outside the bike, exposed to open air. This poses quite a few hazards if not done properly though.

Also, trying to find the wavelength of the signal might be a good idea. You can then calculate the amount of length needed for the wire, where the signal would be strongest (1/4 of one wavelength of the operation of the alarm's frequency, which I suspect to be using radio waves at this point). The best solution is of course a soft wire antenna as we discussed Tim, because it can be bent and stuff but this of course means the signal will hardly be as powerful as a straight-up all-exposed no-loops antenna can provide.

If it can be a soft-wire antenna a good place to expose it would be near the end, if you got a box. You can then use cable-tie or similar means to keep the exposed part in place and not look messy.

But problem is the white color get dirty easily; hard to maintain. The advantage of the bright color is that it makes the bike look bigger.

If I had a second chance to decide my bike colors again , I'll still take red/white.

Actually I was thinking of a combined modsters + Boldors outing. But I foresee certain problems right now with that.

Hey bro metal jawa,

First a warm pre-welcome, and well, for mine bol'dor it's 14K OTR after calculate everything in lah... I got mine from DeXing @ Ubi there. You can look for Dominic there. Nice chap. I thought red & white is more harder to find?... Silver should be more common... Most common is black...

bro judd, there won't be a problem whether you are riding a bol'dor or not, so long as you have your own 2-wheels machine, you are welcome to tag along the fun...

bro panther, what problem would you foresee that might arise from the possible super4 outing?... And of course, nice meeting you earlier on... and nice bike too...

bro K3, you'll definitely be welcome to come along with the trip. Perhaps a get together is all we need to "clear" things up?..... :cheeky:

Yes Gaofar, nice meeting and talking with you earlier too. The idea for the antenna wire is indeed very good as I saw.

Also KKK mentioned one of the problems, and there might be others too, logistical, time, etc. Well, it can all be worked out I suppose.

Thanks for the compliment on my bike, but it is unfinished, and obviously I have yet to clean it this past week thanks to my illness.

Is that the poor guy whose bike burst into flame during an accident? Any background story how it happened?

So far I counted we have only 4 adventurer/ explorers in this thread....

I think everyone is welcome to join...as long as they share the common interest of exploration & biking...we'll have plenty to chat throughout the trip.

But I guess most of the adventurers are in the "Trips and Outing" threads. So, I started posting there to stir some interests as well....:cheeky:

I think my video clip of the Batu pahat Hot spring might excites them into going for the Segamat Hot Spring. hehehe http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i86/tt63...nt=SSL20216.flv

BTW, I have some Garmin Imagesource CDs for the GPS to swap - Worldmap, Europe & Australia. You have any others to swap? PM me if you have , thks.

Here are some pictures of my bike mounted GPS ( Global Positioning Satellite), I clamped the thing on my mirror holder, and applied removable clear silicone before clamping. I think this position is easier to read coz its highest. I strongly suggest that you consider selling off your b/w GPS and pay the difference to get the color ones - because got unlimited memory (expansion slot) & auto-routing funtion. Also color got better visibility of symbols & routes.
