  1. hey guys, thanks for all the tips and advice. THis Lisence is taking longer than I thought I had to repeat 2 of my classes, and the test date i got is in late Jan. @ srihari: I get your point, but for some reason the phantom doesnt sink in with me. No matter how much i thought it wasnt appealing.. I was considering it too at one point cos its quite a cheap bike with reasonable FC too.. So from what I have been considering, I think it's gonna be a wr2 or xr2.. So i think i'll start the bike hunt in January... till then i've been reading the bike forums to get a feel about common pitfalls etc.... it has really been helpful guys!! thanks a lot!!!
  2. Hey guys, I am in the process of getting my first bike in S'pore. I'm 26, and planning on buying a 2B scrambler (most likely a XR2 or WR2). Though i'm a fresh rider in Singapore, I have driving experience overseas for over 8 years. What kind of premium will I be slapped with for 1- 3rd party 2- fire and theft 3- full premium
  3. Hey everyone! Thanks for your replies. I guess I've made my kind up on going for a scrambler. Now its deciding wr2 or xr2. I would prefer xr (since 90% i'll be using it for transport and many recommend the xr as its e-start and has better FC), but I think wr is a more commonly found and popular bike, so it;d b easier to find. So as soon as i finish my TP test i'll start looking. Well, my budget is 3k, but cheaper the better of course. I should be able ti find a decent bike for that price right? I've seen a number of wrs selling in the used bike section in the 2-3k range. From what I understand I can get a well maintained bike for more cash or get a wasted one for cheap and repair. ut I guess I prefer getting a good bike for my budget rather than have to goto the shop for repairs every weekend as soon as I buy a bike.. Thanks guys for all the tips.... I guess i'll have to overlook the put put sound of the 2T even if i get a wr2
  4. A friend of mine has one, and frankly i dont see myself as a scooter person. Its gonna be a sports bike or a scrambler, but still gathering knowledge about these 2 to make a more informed decision. Thanks! Cheers:)
  5. Thanks guys, Frankly I dont intend to go very fast on the roads. So I thought getting a scrambler (which is slower than a sportsbike) would create a certain amount of natural speed control on me. Additionally I would like to do some dirt biking every now and again for fun, so it'd be nicer if i have my own bike for that. The main (or only) think that puts me off a 2B sportsbike is the annoying 'put put put put' sound of the engine. Scramblers have it too i guess, but they make up for it in size .. If i'm not mistaken the noise is mostly from 2T bikes right? And what kind of FC can you expect from a sportsbike? As I have learned the last few weeks, a scrambler could do as less as 15-18kmpl or as high as 25+ on 4T. Am I correct?
  6. Hey everyone! I'm in the process of getting my 2B and am unsure on what kind of bike I wanna get, after some dirt-biking in M'sia I'm tempted to get a WR2 or a XR2, and have been on slack rider asking the boys there on that. But I also wanna consider a sports bike. i'm thinking of buying second hand and hopefully under $3k. So I have some questions. 1- How is the fuel consumption on sports bikes? As I know most are 2T and none go beyond 150cc right? 2- What would be the pros and cons of going for a a sports bike than a scrambler? 3- Is maintenance easier on a sports bike than a scrambler? Thanks for the help! I appreciate it!
