hi. my dad's friend is going to pass me his bike next week, a kawasaki krr, FW plate.he's going to make me as a 2nd rider meaning he is still the owner of the bike - but never use it anymore, and insurance-wise, how is it all done? because, he only said i had to fork out $100 for everything - probably including the insurance. i'm 19 this year - and i doubt that $100 covers the whole insurance stuff. and surely $100 doesn't cover alot - coz my friend is riding kr and his insurance 3rd pt, is like over $900, also 19 yrs old.

advanced thank you for your reply ((:

Insurance price will follow the younger of the 2. Meaning if rider is younger or subrider is younger, the premium will base on the younger age.

Past Rides

I think your father's fren thinks that the gov still using the old system of the using the older person age. But now is using the younger person age so for a p-plater, the insurance will kill you le. But be happy, at least the bike is free you only need to pay for the insurance, road tax and the full servicing of the bike.

Yup, initially as long as the owner is old enuff the insurance premium will following according to his age... but now they take the younger of the two... so no point... u might as well take over as owner haha

You just need to pay for the higher premium. For e.g. your premium $1k, your dad's friend $500. The premium you have to pay will be $1k.

Thats how the insurance work now, not like last time can just ask dad to add you as subrider. For buying of insurance, you can go down to any branch to apply for it, if i not wrong they do provide with installments for the payments.
