I'm going to be brutally frank to you.

1) You have made a really BAD financial decision on buying the bike before understanding fully what you have committed yourself into...

2) Did you pay any downpayment for the SP? IF not, your BAD decision just became WORSE...

3) The only way to get out of your problem now is to spend MORE money. Getting rid of the SP will cost you $$ (including losing your 'investment' on the overhaul) keeping the SP & living with the fuel consumption will cost you $$. Changing to a Phantom will cost you $$. Insurance thingy is troublesome? Too bad, that's the way its going to be. Troublesome also you need to do it. You can get a refund on cancelling your insurance for the SP, but again that will lose you some $$ & the refund will take time to process, so you won't get your (partial) $$ back immediately.

4) I actually think that you are NOT ready to own a bike. IMHO, the best option for you now (without any further details from you) might be to get rid of the SP to cut your losses & go back to public transport.. OR get a part time job to earn more $$ to support your bike & limit your usage so that you do not spend so much on fuel.

:btw:

Did anyone tell you that petrol prices will continue to rise & rise? So keeping a bike will continue to cost more & more?

Did anyone also tell you that your SP will continue to depreciate exponentially the longer you keep it? If you took out a huge loan on the bike (i.e. very little downpayment), or your loan period is very long, you have basically dug yourself a big financial hole.

:sorry: if I'm being brutal. That's life sometimes.
