hi guys, i have narrowed down my options to either SYM GTS200/200iEvo or Honda PCX due to COE ending soon, thus need your valuable inputs related to GTS. my ride will be for commuting between home and work and occasional weekend rides. currently on phantom TA200, which i diligently change EO monthly. throughout the years, i had changed the dead batts twice, apart from the tyres/chain - which i think is really-really low maintenance & high in reliability.

1) how is the reliability of GTS?

2) maintenance?

3) spare parts availability and cost?

4) any other negs experience that you had?

TIA!

i would ask u to get GTS200 over evo or PCX

assume both GTS and EVO same. aka abt 32km/h.

PCX more abt 40-45km/h as claim. nt sure

give this and the starting price. i need to travel alot to earn back the difference.

the next will be GTS there are parts in singapore and malaysia.

but EVO and PCX i cant comment. i know EVO is not in malaysia. do become da boleh... haha

only thing abt all 3 bike. to me is super under power. which i cant tahan. that y i change to maxsym :p

for your consideration.

The price of a machine in Singapore is rather complicated. $4500 (not $4500k!!) sounds low for a GTS -- this excludes the COE and insurance? Currently, I would expect a new GTS to cost more than $7k, all-in.

From ASphoon, all in based on COE $1902 n insurance under 31. total about $7600 for GTS

yes bro..machine price is the price of the bike only without anything :)

excludes: IU, COE, Insurance, Road Tax, Agreement Fee and Of course GST

same like Maxsym: machine is 9k

den plus all the cock and bull: $13750 :(

Cos Sym is quite a popular brand, don't think there is any problem with spare parts... though I am not absolutely sure on this one. But in terms of technology, the 200i is probably more advanced than the GTS. Of course, there is a also a significant price difference. But if you spread the cost over a few years, it may be worthwhile to go for the 200i. Anyway, I was faced with the same choices and opted for the 200i for that reason.

Thanks for the advise. I think ill think harder and go down to see both again, to know which design i like better. but for now, 200i for the efi engine. But to me the best looking will b new 400cc sym max, saw it in other shop near mah. lol

thanks to all for your inputs. i think the difference between both models is in the range of $1k+, which is why they ended up as my options. good to know there are some good recommendations on gts.

Power depends also on the rider profile. Those who want to travel at high speeds for long distances may find the power of the bikes inadequate. But for those who are content to cruise at about 80 km/hr (which, for me, is already very high speed!) most of the time, the bikes would be more than adequate.

It should perhaps also be borne in mind that the speed limit in Singapore is 90 km/hr. Hence travelling over this speed at any time is breaking the law. Having a bike with a small engine displacement capacity thus actually helps one to stay on the right side of the law. Travelling at lower speeds is also much safer.

Anyone experienced any difficulty pumping tyres? Went to a petrol station and tried to do it, but couldn't get the tyre pump nozzle to fit into the tyre valve opening. Is it easier to pump tyres at a tyre shop? Please help.

Is the tyre valve on the evo L shape like the GTS? If not, you can change it to the L shape valve which makes pumping more easier. Cost between $10.00 to $15.00

The rear is L shaped. The front is not. Will consider your solution. Thanks.

Are the pumps at petrol stations and tyre shops identical in terms of shape of their nozzles? Does anybody pump at tyre shops at all? What has been your experience like? Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Long time no see guys!

Takes me hours to read these several pages when I did not visit here, glad to see more bros are joining GTS rider!

One good news my FC is about 28KM/Liter, it keeps on increase in mileage. Thanks a million to all the bros that discussed that issue and gave me advices!

Recently wanted to invest some money for my GTS, would like to purchase some additional rear box bracket like these:

I will keep my original/stock bracket, the new bracket is for extra support. Any bro knows where I can buy the above type of bracket?

Please do not laugh out too loudly at this true story...

I found out why I was having so much difficulty pumping my tyres. It was about 6 am, see.... so the lighting wasn't too good. I had tried to pump the tyres but did not remove the caps on the tyre valves!

This morning I did it again but it was at 9 am so everything was bright and clear.... and I suddenly saw the black caps on the valves and realised how silly I was. After that, there was no problem, of course.

generally, the tire valve are all the same size/diameter.

L shape valve is gd for tire pump.
