Just spent few bulks and install one on any bike, do be reminded that the 12V supply on bike is not properly regulated so expect charger to damage faster compared to car.

Anyone interested can let me know, the parts price estimate:

1. power socket for cig plug - $8

2. fuse holder + fuse (3A) - $2

3. Regulator (optional): China made ~$16, Taiwan made ~$45, Local made ~$30 - the regulator is used to stablise the 12V supply from the battery, limit the charging voltage (can be up to 17V) to the regulator for iphone or GPS charger, the regulated supply is not for cig lighter or vacuum cleaner usage, the fuse will blown. If cig lighter or vacuum cleaner is needed, cannot install regulator but not advisable for iphone or GPS charger as the high charging voltage from the alternator will damage the charger almost immediately.

4. workmanship can be from $10 to $30 depending on the skillset and difficulty of the job.

5. recommended workshop - ask me.

Anyone noticed that GTS 300i Evo have a Cigar Lighter slot for 12v Dc plugs? Woah ! this is new for my riding experience! finally can charge iphones on the go!

Super Awesome!

Does that mean the Cigg Lighter which comes pre installed cannot be used to charge iphone? If the socket is not regulated.. i just need to purchase the regulator for the plug right?

Bro, you still haven't collected your evo? my goodness :dozed:

I am not too sure but I don't think this is normal or everyday's event for Mah (right?) to delay collection, sound to me something is not right. Have you go online to check your COE? one of the possible reason for delay is COE, if you COE is not validated, they may actually waiting for next bidding to get cheaper COE (if your package is fixed price, ie not subjected to COE pricing).

Next thing is you can call up LTA to enquiry about your registration to confirm what Mah said is true, as whatever LTA checking should not affects registration of vehicle, so what check Mah is talking about?

My feel is either they screwed out somewhere or simply trying to be funny with you.

Sorry bro, press on! :dot:

I understand from GTS 200 the power source is directly from the ACC line, which is directly from the battery, not regulated, so I supposed 300i should be the same.

You can try using it to charge your iphone but risk is burnt the charger and maybe the phone if the voltage is too high. The alternator is designed to output up to 16.8V or slightly higher for charging the battery cells (each 2.2V charged, charging need up to 2.8V), which I am sure not many iphone charger can take up to 16V from the socket, even if you installed voltmeter, the reading is average and no peak indication, where 14V readout could actually peaked at almost 19V, too high for normal phone charger to take the stress.

To play safe is as you say, get a regulator to stablise the voltage and limit it to not more than 13V for your iphone charger, you can try Sim Lim Square/Tower if you just need the regulator, you may need to modify a bit to add the cig plug and cig socket for your charger.

Make me pointed out name and all.

And they let me understand tat all new bike need homologation check even COE and all.

But the make d buying of bike ugly and all.

So bro plz enlighten me on what to do and about the homologation process?

Will they b so unprofessional n short giv me on my new bike since im such a pain customer.

Try to get to the higher management, this is totally unacceptable practice. Don't talk to the same group of people as they will not give way even they are wrong.

I think you can demand for a good discount to cover the poor sale service, of course if you are free and really up to the line, can do things like call frontline (TCS8), forum (Chinese/English papers) and stomp, etc. but only after you collected your bike.

If you checked and there is no COE under your name, quite sure that they are trying to bid a new COE at lower price (the next round all aims to be very much lower) to increase profit margin. You can have option to ask them to use existing COE and transfer to you for registration, you can get the bike in 1 to 2 days through this way. Otherwise, I believe you need to wait till end of the week or early next week for the new round of COE to be ready.

On the side note, you may ask for full refund and buy it from elsewhere, I think you will get cheaper price and better service.

BTW. Lets say if i wanna add my own LED lightings, can i connect it directly to the battery with a seperate switch for it? Will this cause my battery to drain?

The switch is used to cut off supply from the battery, so it should not drain, but better to add a fuse to protect the battery and prevent fire hazard due to accidental short circuit.

Thanks bro for the advice. I sincerly think no point talkin to the boss as Mr chew claim the boss was listening in with him on-ing d specker and there a damn super rude top guy in d background asking y i call LTA n such and who ask me to call. I was so damn pissed that i told him off that its not impt 4 them to know who n why i call, since im a customer and i have my rights to know whatever they are telling me and i cant b a fool 2 just listen to whatever they told me. U guys will know what happen, all shut up their mouths and suddenly become a good salesmen from heaven and explain all details to me very nicely and good.

Ok to be fair to them, i did a google search on LTA Homologation, & in mycarforum its seem to what Mah was saying was truth to certain extend as there alot of practice in the market. But im not too sure if car and bike undergo the same process.

Den after all this drama in the late noon, in d night d jr malay sales msg me asking me if i call LTA n all but is talking very good with me but he was always nice and potite to me even when i demend discount and freebie but he do know how to escape with answer. the final was now try to cover with some not very good discount of about 100+ for the extra item i request 4.

Seriously i really super sian of all this sh*t and im scare i'll get lousy standard of bike from them since i do so much pattern.

But i wont go to the extend of media as too much drama 4 me and i will b starting my new job nxt week and dont wish to have all this trouble.

Ill see how it goes, let myself rest and see how things goes. S i belif either its goes the best or worse case after all this drama that im no pushover but who knows they might have better story and method to eat me up.

Cheers bro and thanks for the help!

bro, I feel for your angst, the choice is yours, need to wait or bail out, customer is always right

Thanks bro. Ill wait and see how! Forum is really a good way to reserach and share! Cheers for SYM Cafe!

Hmmm ... just pointing out. Gts 200 already has a 12v plug installed on its bike. look near the battery compartment.

The battery is on its left on the right is an empty space. If you shine a light in it you will notice theres a small round plug cover. pull it and it will reveal a 12v plug. I always use it to chrge my hp on emergency

Yes GTS 200 has it installed but not regulated, so use it with caution.

How exactly to install the regulator from the socket itself? Or is it a device which draws current from the socket and outputs a lower voltage?

If you don't want to modify the original (recommended) circuit, just buy a plug-in regulator for the socket and plug your charger into the regulator socket. The regulated voltage will be limited to around 13v max.
