I strongly recommend going to that workshop and look for the more experienced ones. As for the name, I don't think I will mention it as a lot of us actually frequent it often be it for upgrades, repairs or purchases.

Anyway, didn't managed to go there today as no one picked up my call. I assumed they're closed for the public holiday. I may drop by tomorrow to have my bike checked.

I've tried to research on google and saw some people mentioning that it could be some issues with flapper valve or something like that. Some others mentioned that it's because there are excess fuel sprayed out so combustion took place in exhaust pipe. It really makes me wonder if it is due to that mechanic's action of removing half of my pipe that resulted in this lor.

Now wherever I travel, when I close throttle and my speed drops to 60, it will give out a loud bang. It is so loud, pedestrians will all turn my way and see what happened. :nono: If my observation is right, my fuel efficiency has reduced too. Haiz..all I wanted to do was to just change my back tyre to a Michelin Gold Standard. What a headache now.. :nono:

Sound more like a mis-firing engine to me.

Hello all, I just got a resale black GTS 200 from a bike shop along upper serangoon. The bike outlook condition 7.8/10. Internal condition yet to be tested.

It is FBA plate 05/2006 , millege is 31,000km at $3,300 inclusive of 3rd party Ins, 6mth Road Tax,transfer fee,new OEM Belt & Rollers, EO,GO. Anyone like to comment whether it was a good buy?

To collect bike next week.

Used to ride a Suzuki Intruder400 chopper many years ago. Then followed by Yamaha YBR 125. This is my first time owining a auto gear scooter. Not sure how the pick up will be as compare to my previous bikes. Also very worried whther it will have enough power to do overtaking on express way.

Hope I won't regret it when I got to ride my GTS next week.

no we are hanging around. it would be nice if u can read all 15 pages of this thread and maybe then some of the 2008 thread.

hmm i also have a black fba plate gts. 10/2006. (22000km mileage)i'm not sure if u call that a good price from the shop but i would have sold mine for $2500 if i was selling it. since u already bought it, just enjoy it and report on your findings here once u have ridden it a few 100kms. i'm sure the rest would help you out if you find any kinks or problems on your ride.

whats the mileage on the one u bought? One notable quirk is the stock exhaust pipe. A piece will break off inside and u can hear irritating rattling sounds sometimes which causes a slight drop in FC. No fix for that unless u buy an aftermarket pipe, wield open the current one and remove the offending object or get a new pipe (which will break again after 15-20k km?)

hmmm bro so how's your bike now?? problemm resolved?

Problem is solved, guys. I went back to the workshop and the very senior guy there spotted a hole on my exhaust pipe. It's the part that is under my bike at the belly part. Apparently, the previous owner had got it welded before. The loud bangs must have came from this hole.

The thought of my previous visit to change my rear tyre immediately came to my mind. I recalled the "runner", who were asked to change my tyre, having tried to unscrew a nut below my bike's belly. As my bike wasn't placed on a ramp, he had to bend a little to try to have a good view of the screw. He didn't really get a good view, from what I recalled and he was turning the spanner without looking at it. He failed a few times when his spanner had slipped. Gosh! I've got a hunch that his spanner must have hit the pipe and caused a hole. Why this assumption? Cuz right after I've drove out of the garage, the bang bangs came soon after a few streets down. :dot:

Anyway, the guy removed my exhaust pipe so there's only the thin first half of the pipe with the thicker end rotated out and left there and we went to another workshop couple of shops down. They did some dripping ("di1" in mandarin) of some metal on the hole to cover it up. Viola! The bang's are gone but a new hole was found in my wallet. :dozed: damage is $25 ($15 for the dripping and $10 for the workshop's svc charge). Thing is, if my assumption that their "runner" had created that hole is true, then it's really a damage to my wallet and it's not worth it. Anyway, thank God it's not $100 over.

Lesson of my experience: Spot the most experienced guy at the workshop and have him/her service your bike for you. ALWAYS! Even if it means a long queue! No "runners" please!

Photographs attached:

1st photo - shows the bolt that's on the belly of my bike (don't you think that a spanner that had slipped from trying to remove this bolt can hit a hole on the pipe? quite obviously, the answer is "yes, it can!" :( )

2nd photo - the bolt that holds my mud guard

3rd photo - the welded part of the pipe after welding done
