I have lost confidence in my GTS to do any long distance riding let alone ride in Singapore!!! Yesterday on the way to work along TPE near Ikea, the same **** happened again. No fuel supply. Had it towed back to Mah Pte this morning. This time the cause is a choke fuel filter!!! WTF! Towed back to bike shop twice within the month!!! ANyone interested to buy a 1 month GTS?

 

Sad to hear that you encounter such problem.

 

There a few question which i will like to ask before i submit ur case to the chief mech in penang.

 

1) what petrol did u use ?

2) Did u ever dismantle ur faring ?

3) Is there any sign of black colour stain on ur fuel pump ?

an old fren ride 3yrs already gts say the gts always fuel pump give problem..i have yet to have this problem..maybe someone can share if he saw the pump...tx

 

It might not be the fuel pump that giving the problem. trust me.

Alamak..how come the fuel line can bend?..so is your bike okay bro?

 

It bend due to improve installation of the faring.

Yup my bike under hire purchase, thus only one original key given, btw any key recommended shop that GTSer had their SYM key dupicated?:cheeky:

I think the key no micro chip like honda S4 (HISS) right? prefer the original ones as the key head can bend.

I thought of ask Mah if they bring in new set of keys which is not cut to the required shape & size.. just the key head can bend.. :cheers:

 

Key can be dup but not the key lock.. Our key lock is consider of four hole with 3 magnet and different position. North and south combination. different bikes have different combination.

hi guys,im new to this auto scoot..its bn 5mths i use..bought 2nd hand at aljunied black,FBE2xxx,mileage 6k-nw 12k..at SGD5k..nd sm info frm seniors here..when to change the belt?hw much to change it?my batt light always on but no problem everyday handstarter-what is the cause?.....last last fri saw a sym gts at marina barrage -the owner with sym group juz went malacca-is this group frm here?tx lots...

 

 

Belt changes @ every 15K or 12K.

 

With Battery Light onz, doing the following step ( from cheapest to the most exp)

 

1) Check battery voltage ( min reading 11~12V)

2) Check rectifier (If Volt meter reading go up to 14.4 and above... good luck)

3) magneto coil ( super expensive to replace )

 

Step to check ur magneto coil.

1)Start ur engine, off all light.

2 )wait till the temp meter go up to 2 bar.

3)look at the RPM it shld be stable by now.

4) no ur head light

5) if RPM SHOULD NOT shoot up, abit is ok but not too much.

6) after shooting up, is normal that rpm will go back to the reading before you on the headlight.

If RPM shoot up too high... then there might be problem with ur magento coil.

I strongly advise all to install volt meter. The volt meter reading will help the owner to identifty problem before the problem become too major

Singapore GTS is direct import from taiwan. So possible is that in singapore when they are fixing the faring... the petrol breather hose got pressed up thus causing air unable to smooth travel into the fuel tank. Rmbr that our fuel system is using pump system. Is more like a techincal glitch.

Hi Nemesis, you must be one of the pioneer sifu that Katana is referring to. So far after the 2nd towing back to the agent, the problem is rectified (I hope). Because of these 2 boo boo, I just do not have the confidence in this GTS of mine. It is frustrating that this should happened to a brand new bike which was hardly a month on the road !!!

To be honest.... sometime is based on luck. No confidence in ur GTS is good for start. Try to know more about ur bike. It will serve u better.

yeah la...buying bikes/cars all must count on ur luck also. some buy can use for yrs w/o any probs. some 1-2 wks kena prob already. my new excel II also within 1 mth signal got prob. went back to mah n they changed some wires n ok already. till now so far so gd.

me encounter only every morning i start my bike, warm up for abt 5 - 10 mins, but still have vibration while moving off slowly..

after a certain jerking than the bike will travel smoothly as per normal.... it is normal???

IT is not normal. I also have this problem but yet to rectify it. In meanwhile, please warm up the bike till u see at least two bar b4 moving off. Once i got the confirm answer, i will let u guys know.

This only happened in the morning.

High chance your roller is due to change right?

 

Vibration occurs on below 2k rpm. Warm up Abit more, u will feel less but will still have. No worries.

lights up than start moving off slowly at low rpm.. The jerking is there. After the rest of my ride,

all the way smooth.

 

If its the roller issue, can i changed the roller first & not the belt? Or need to change

both roller & belt together?

Bro ok i try to warm up till 2 bars b4 moving off.. See if the jerking still occur.

Or maybe like bro quizesilver said might be the roller starts to worn off..?

I bought a 2nd unit registered year 2009 from Mah Pte Ltd last month, rode the bike for almost a month now, first 2 weeks no jerking when moving of.. Only recently encounter it, according to the sale person,

They changed the belt & rollers, eo & gear oil b4 took the bike. I trust his words, therefore milage till now i took the bike abt 3k after i took over.. I nvr changed anything yet for now.

 

The sale person told me when milage turn 5k change eo & gear oil, & change belt & rollers after milage reach 12k.
